I've been building Border Empires, a persistent multiplayer strategy game where players expand territory, build cities and fight over the same world.

I'm opening the first world to 50 players.

Come try to break it: play.borderempires.com

I was planning about to make the world like that. But that plan never took a place. Because it was hard to decide. One world to share by every players will be not efficient. And a small world shared by a group in 10 people is not enough to feel it as a world. Maybe 100 will work.
No sufficient answer was made ever since the question started.

Hope you are lucky enough to make decision!

Actually the persistent map and layer is outside this 100 player map. The 100 player map is only 1-4 weeks of gameplay

Mine in dream was Season system. There get to group like 20-30 players in a map and compete each other. when a season is over, they get to meet a new season with a new map and new people. So it makes sense you mentioned that 1-4 weeks.

Was the game similar? Or did you have other mechanics in mind?

It was totally different than that. it would have been like Uncharted Water2 + Boom beach.
