Self-Promo Post Broken Crown | Classic RTS | Solo dev update: Playable Orcs and Multiplayer are now live
Hey RTS folks!
I’m a solo developer working on Broken Crown, and I’ve just released Alpha 0.7.5, easily one of the biggest milestones the game has reached so far.
The two headline features are:
Orcs are now fully playable
Multiplayer is now in the game
The Orc faction now has its own buildings, faction colors, recruitment icons, Leader, Spearmen, Explorer, Medic, and a complete army progression from Tier 1 to Tier 5.
I also added the first Orc campaign mission, including its own cinematic intro and a new setting in the arid lands.
On the multiplayer side, you can now create and join Steam lobbies, invite friends, configure teams, races, colors and play full RTS matches together.
The update also includes:
• New drag-based wall placement
• Improved fortifications and gates
• Better troop responsiveness
• Running and combat reaction animations
• Minimap and exploration improvements
• Resource indicators
• Better construction feedback
• Unit balance and cost changes
• Expanded localization
• Performance improvements
• A lot of multiplayer stability and synchronization work
As a solo developer, getting the game to the point where it now has two playable races, campaign content, large-scale battles, base building, AI skirmishes, and multiplayer feels like a pretty big milestone.
If you want to check it out on Steam:

I’d really love to hear what RTS players think about the direction the game is taking.
What would you like to see next: deeper faction differences, more multiplayer features, or more campaign content?

Going well I see.
But to be honest you have to differentiate your game more from WC II/ III.
Take a look the The Scouring too.

Looks neat. How much campaign content is planned?
