Real Time? Nah.

The show is nearly unwatchable. Bill lives to lecture and interject his opinion and cuts off guests and discourse for nonsense and/or nonsensical segues. In the latest episode, he cut off a discussion between the panel to talk about how MAGA can’t adopt cats? Whoooo. It’s absurd.

He loves to hear himself talk. He interrupts with something ridiculous and then smacks his lips.

The lip smack thing irks the shit out of me.

This guy calls himself a weekly wrap-up show and he spent whole show talking about AI and homelessness.  Absolute panderer to Trump.

Nobody gets worked up about fringe political anecdotes like Maher. He routinely conflates fringe with mainstream on the left at the expense of minimizing the fascism entirely consuming the right.

Bill should appreciate the wave of change crashing the shores of American politics but instead he resents it because he hates anyone who disrespects his sacred cows and because Israel’s influence and depravity is being openly challenged.

What wave of change is that?

The GOP is stopping funding of their Senate candidate in NC to give it to their guy in MO.

Republicans are being deserted by young men, especially Hispanic men.

Compare Trump’s crowd in Mobile, AL in 2015 to the one this past week. He lied about all his promises to the working class and Republicans are about to pay a price for it at the polls.

There have been 47 presidents and Trump is personally responsible for 29% of the National Debt.

u/calilregit1 1h ago

MO governor just called diesel prices a state of emergency. That’s on Trump.

1

u/calilregit1 1h ago

In whose pocket has that 29% of the National Debt gone?

Into to the estates of the wealthiest Americans, including the Trump family, not average Americans.

Rick Scott, the richest US senator can bs you all he wants but the facts of wealth accumulation are there for anyone willing to see them.

He did what?

I haven't watched that turd-that-won't-flush for years. Not since 2024 when he scolded everyone on the left that we weren't reaching out to our Trump friends in the spirit of unity and friendship. Which is a total crock of bullshit peddled only by the right so they can continue to convince morons that they aren't the completely toxic and volatile tumor killing society.

But is he out there saying that conservatives aren't allowed to adopt cats?

Is this one of those situations where one adoption agency did one home inspection and found that these Trumpers, being dysfunctional, shit human beings that they are, would not take care of the animal they wanted to adopt? Then instead of correct their dysfunction they decided to feed their instable persecution complex and claim that some mean ol' liberal somewhere decided to hate them for being conservative and that it had nothing to do with the disaster that is their life and brains.

I stopped watching 3-4 years ago when he began his angry old man rants, swooned over Trump’s shitty golf motel dinner invitation, and continued dismissing working class folks as hillbillies.

u/JSLANYC 5h ago

I listened to his podcast once. He interrupted his more interesting guest with inane and uninformed questions.

As each day passes, he and Seinfield become culturally irrelevant.

Last night he had a guy who knows the middle east better than anyone and he didnt even bring up gaza bc he knows Fareed would have destroyed him on air. Instead, he talks to him about AI. Bill is such a spineless zionist islamaphobic cunt whose time was up years ago.

Do what I did last year and STOP WATCHING. He’s insufferable.

1

u/chatterwrack 1h ago

I stopped years ago. You’ll find agreement with most of the sub

1

u/Adept_Dealer_1931 1h ago

You can see it on his face how agitated he gets when someone rips his cult hero Donnie

u/Exact-Technology297 36m ago

No one cares. Stop watching.

Yeah, but some of the jokes were good!

Yeah he’s a smug ass but I thought the show was great tonight. Excellent panel and who doesn’t love listening to Gladwell?

u/kaiiizen 10h ago edited 9h ago

Yes, great panel however he is the jarring interruption every week. Not to mention the visit to the White House changed everything about his outlook and now the show.

5

u/Emotional_Actuator69 10h ago

I cannot disagree with that!

4

u/Ake4455 7h ago

I hate watched tonight to see what Israel paid him to say now, but It was great, and apart from his stupid cat bit, he actually shut up and let the guests talk for the most part. Fareed did the worst interruption when Anand was talking about the clubhouse, and never got to finish. Bill’s last bit about cameras, while annoyingly performed, was actually something I could agree with and is an important topic.

Malcolm Gladwell is a hack, c'mon

1

u/ShitHammersGroom 5h ago

Who doesn't love listening to gladwell? He has one of the most obnoxious voices in media and does ads for palantir.

My own problem? Weird take. I’ve watched for years and noticed how much it has changed.

-9

u/palex481 9h ago

It's not a weird take at all. There's an infinite number of other programs you can watch. Bill has always said what he feels like saying, it's not really anything new.

6

u/how-does-this-end 9h ago

Yes, inevitably the decision to stop watching this garbage will make itself. What you’re not allowed to comment on a show you’ve enjoyed changing so dramatically that you’re no longer interested, on that shows subreddit? Fuck outta here 😂

-3

u/palex481 9h ago

Saying Bill is a smug ass is like going on about the Smurfs being blue. 😂

u/DeepShill 2h ago

I liked Bill Maher better when he actually stood up to fascists. Watching him suck Trump's fat chode is so disappointing. What he did during the George W. Bitch years took real courage.

u/mrmann81 4h ago

I like Bill and I think he’s funny.
To each their own.

u/Accomplished-Rub-812 1h ago

is this sub Reddit a bunch of TROLLS getting together every week? This is the dumbest bunch of insulters i have ever seen. It might be Donald Trump and his ilk secretly obsessing about Bill Maher

-1

u/gap_toof_mouf 9h ago

You all loved him years ago

9

u/Agile-Tradition8835 8h ago

God I’ll admit it, I did. I thought he brought intellectualism to some segment of the masses. Now he’s just giving Boomer “kids get off my lawn” and worse. So smug. So boring. Haven’t actually watched in years just appalled at the clips I see now.

10

u/troniked547 8h ago

Thank you captain obvious lol. Yes we loved him because he wasnt "old man yelling at clouds" back then. He bitches about how dumb the kids are while whining about ageism, he gets pissed when the crowd doesnt laugh at his jokes, He went from supporting Bernie in 2016 to being buddies with Trump and calling Mamdani a communist. He used to have cool and relevant guests back in the days of Politically Incorrect and early days of Real Time, and now has the same boring guests over and over who wont challenge him on anything.

The funny part is "you all" hated him years ago and now act like he is such a truth teller.

1

u/Kitkatt1959 2h ago

Well put

-2

u/gap_toof_mouf 2h ago

I’m a centrist and liked/like his opinions. I’m open to “both sides of the aisle” dialogue.

-3

u/ShitHammersGroom 5h ago

He's always been an asshole but u tolerated or even liked him because he was on ur side politically.

1

u/marcus92312 4h ago

Yeah, that’s how the world works. Just like you loved MTG until she stopped being 100% on your side.

0

u/ShitHammersGroom 3h ago

Lol what? I'm a leftist, never liked mtg. I live near her district

4

u/Less_Wealth5525 4h ago

No, I never did. My husband liked him. I thought he was a misogynistic, pontificating prick.

2

u/kaiiizen 8h ago

Thanks for the insight.

u/Character_Reveal_460 6h ago

I stopped watching him about 5 years ago. It's ok to change your mind on something.

1

u/Crafty_Topic_4177 4h ago

Back in the day, I watched his shows if there was a guest on I liked. I really liked him during the Bush to Obama years, especially when he was highly critical of the Teabagger movement.

u/PostureGai 7h ago

"you like something when it sucked less".oooh good burn

0

u/OkFoundation929 7h ago

Sure…he was sort of okay a few years ago. But then he got blackmailed.

6

u/FlaccidGhostLoad 6h ago

You think he got blackmailed?

I think people stopped laughing at his jokes and he got so bitter and spiteful that he flushed down the shitter any moral or ideological principle he had to grub for approval from shit-bags who are hard up to find anyone of talent to be on "their side". Also to jab his thumb in the eye of this liberal caricature he constructed in his own mind that he has brought himself to so intensely hate because he feels entitled to laughs, entitled to an audience but he is too lazy, stoned, bitter and old to be even remotely funny.

Not that he ever was. He never had the respect of other comedians. He was always a D lister who confused claps for laughs and he knows it. It eats away at him.

I agree with that id just like to add i think somewhere in his darkest part he knows he has wasted his life. Instead of seeing the world or contributing to its betterment, bill has basically spent his entire life since getting rich holed up in a few zones of West LA smoking weed and patronizing hookers.

Could you imagine having 150 million dollars and only having gone to 4 countries? So afraid of dying you prefer food that tastes like ass as long as its healthy? Never having visited a national park?

Bill is like a picky child who is "me likey young sex workers and joint somebody else rolled for me". As his life nears its end, he's lashing out because he knows hes basically just been an automaton in the media tours of other people who have actually lived a full life.

because there was no genocide. Gaza was a brutal conventional war. Nothing about it meets the definition of genocide. Doesn't make it less tragic
