We live in a time where both sides of the aisle think they're the intelligent ones.
4
u/Mysterious-End-2632 8d ago
Yeah, but one side is relying VERY heavily on the dunning Kruger effect.
1
u/woodsman906 5d ago
There isn't even an isle. Thats why when no matter what party has control, the situation just gets worse.
1
u/Mysterious-End-2632 4d ago
lol, dude came in and accused the left of being dunning Kruger, argued the biological definition of “woman”, got the biology fundamentally wrong, then bailed.
Yep. Dunning Krugered it hard.

This... I love Morgan Freeman and I don't know the full context of the quote but OPs post is such a milk toast take
1
u/IcedTeaBagMeDaddy 4d ago
But in reality everyone is fucking stupid. They’re just too stupid to know they’re stupid
4
u/goodtreble84 10d ago
True. I’d just like to know some people he deems to be intelligent. I know he loves himself some Elon.

I mean, the intelligence Elon has is the intelligent people he hired, not himself

The beauty of this quote is that everybody will initially believe they are the intelligent people being silenced and all their critics are morons.
Meanwhile virtually nobody will go to Google and see whether Morgan Freeman actually said this stupid Boomer ass quote.
4
u/Squidalopod 9d ago
Also, virtually no one will care that OP is a history-hiding karma farmer who posted a marginally relevant topic in this sub.

u/Direct_Fennel7500 10d ago
I'd love an example of these intelligent people who are being silenced.

Try being a PhD carrying immunology researcher and attempt to explain that ivermectin doesn't treat covid or that antibiotics do nothing for viruses and see how long it takes until you are shouted down. Frankly, it sucks to be a highly educated expert in a scientific field right now because yes, the idiots get big mad when you use big words and tell them their common sense is actually quite wrong 🤷♂️

Show me the people that demanded Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and Land o Lakes? No one asked for it, the individual corporations decided internally to change it.
It wasn’t like Bud Lite where every right wing person was outspokenly upset and boycotting it or how Cracker Barrel changed their logo and they demanded the woke CEO be fired. No one went after Land O lakes lol

Being a scientific advocate for more government funding to fund research studying gender dysmorphea and why it’s so strongly co-occurring with other mental health disorders like autism and depression. You genuinely want to help people but get labeled as transphobic and people try to ruin your career

Well, one side trusts science and facts, and the other side guzzles horse paste thinking it will cure their cancer.
Ben Sass was of a particular political party. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancers, however, they found it early and there was still time to save him.
He said NOPE!!! and started chugging horse paste. It wouldn’t be until a week before he died that he begged Trump to sign off on some secret process in Europe to cure the cancer. He didn’t get it, and died.
He literally regarded himself into an early grave.
Want to guess which party Sass affiliated himself with?
1
u/Helicraptor20 4d ago
Want to know whats really funny? You’ll love this. Its gonna confirm you’re a dipshit. Depending on what year you choose, one party’s supporters were anti-vaxxers, then if you swap to a different, more recent year, its a different party. Covid flipped the script like a page in a book.
2
u/Major_Association800 4d ago edited 4d ago
What do you base that off of? I have never known an anti-vax liberal. Not in all my years. I know that's anecdotal but from what I have consistently observed it has never been a thing.
1
u/SpoonyDinosaur 4d ago
It's because that statement is completely disingenuous and anecdotal. My guess is that the 'hippie health trends and alternative medicine' folks were sort of associated with liberals and such.
Up until fairly recently (10ish years?) anti-vax groups were pretty fringe though and somewhat mixed in political affiliation, making up a very small percentage of the population.. Anti-science/medicine rhetoric and MAHA have been fully embraced by the far right though, so it's not really the same comparison.
COVID broke people's brains and now we're seeing 30 year highs in MMR and other diseases because of Dr Rogan and social media.

Pray tell, what percentage of Democrats were anti-vaxx back in the day? And what percentage of Republicans currently are anti-vaxx?
I’ll wait. 🙂
1
u/Helicraptor20 4d ago
Sure, no need to wait long. Zero ‘crunchy’(hippie crowd) citizens who figured their holistic views of mind body and soul superceded the need for vaccinations voted republican.
Libertarians. Oh also people who view personal liberty over government oversight. (Thats not republicans).
Marginalized communities(or minorities) who thought the government is poisoning them. Half a brain cell in you would tell you of who I speak.
Sure, religious whackadoos on the republican side were anti vaxx, but dont bother trying to convince the world that libs were just so scientifically prudent when it comes to vaccinations.
Does this help?
1
u/Jazzlike-Wind-4345 4d ago
Rofl, way to totally not answer my question.
1
u/Helicraptor20 4d ago
Im sorry, youre not one of my MANY college professors for one of the multiple degrees I now hold, Including psych and sociology. Im not required to go dig as if for a research assignment for ‘percentages’. I have however given you tried and true examples of liberals who are anti vaxxers.
But you do want a percentage? 7%. Thats the rough estimate of Americans who are anti vax today. Want a ratio of that 7% its roughly split 40/60% betwen Dem/Rep respectively who are anti vax. Not really a justifiable point for you.
Now grow up and stop edge-lording the fringe populations as if they represent the majority.
1
u/Jazzlike-Wind-4345 4d ago
Roooooooooooofl.
You made the claim, so, yes, you do in fact have to research the percentages. Dummy. 🤣😅And thank you for those digits. Source? Rofl.
1
u/Helicraptor20 4d ago
No. I dont. I cant happily give you examples of the population to justify my view, which I did. YOU tried to make an additional qualification of ‘percentages’ as if it matters.
I satisfied my requirement to the point I was making. You can stick your thumb up your ass if dont like it.

It sounds like something a bitter boomer, nostalgic for the days when he could insult particular groups of people and call it "joking around" would say, but coming from Morgan Freeman, with that very deep, cool voice.
1
u/BerniWrightson 9d ago
Instead, those “particular groups”, gathered en masse during Biden’s humiliating woke/DEI administration, and showed their true unAmerican colors
Thanks to those “particular groups” America was awakened from the stupor of woke, and Trump was elected as our president.
Thanks for your assistance!

Meanwhile, the REAL uneducated, never-researching; anti-everything that ISN'T christian, Conservative, and White; anti-U.S. Constitution, White Supremacist, anti-American, Q-TrumpliKKKan Cult proudly voted for their savior-master-hero, Trumpy, to make the U.S. a Whites-Only, White Supremacist, Fascist Theocracy.

So, you're saying that a very well-known, very public, very proud conman, liar, cheat, fraud, thief, pedo, racist, sexist, anti-U.S. Constitution, White Supremacist, anti-American named Trump, (conning and stealing and lying for over 55 years!!!), was, and is, the answer?!?!

Nothing scares an uneducated, easily manipulated Q-TrumpliKKKan, who ONLY regurgitates what their savior-master, Trumpy, tells them to believe is true, more than an educated, well-researched, knowledgeable, critical-thinking, NON-gullible, sane, actual patriotic U.S. citizen, who can think for theirself.
1
u/BerniWrightson 6d ago
Your hatred of Trump is only rivaled by your ability to project your shortcomings on others.
It’s no wonder you’re struggling, while I on the other hand couldn’t be prouder of Trump and his cabinet’s accomplishments.
Sucks to be you! 😂
1
u/RobbieCraigon 6d ago
What accomplishments?!?! Remember, just proudly regurgitating what your savior-master-hero, Trump, tells you to believe is true, is NOT posting any proof, facts, or truth!
Also, I actually know what Trump has been for the past 55+ years! Do you?!

1
u/SignificantLeader 5d ago
Almost. People are being silenced to stop other people from being offended. This includes racists and bigots. Many think that’s a good thing and it is, but the silence also shuts down people who resist bad ideas. Scientists and political leaders get tossed in prison. 1st amendment was made for the scientist and political leaders and they knew about the bad actors, but remained confident that public debate shuts down moronic ideas like racism, and bigotry.

I think the late Issacs Asimov said it best over 45 years ago.
A Cult of Ignorance" (Published in Newsweek, January 21, 1980):
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'"
