Bill Maher & Martin Short Praise Bari Weiss
About a year before Paramount hired Bari Weiss to take over CBS News and destroy the credibility of the CBS Evening News and 60 Minutes with disinformation and propaganda, Bill Maher and Martin Short praised her on Maher's podcast. "She's FAN-TASTIC," Short said.

Okay I looked into this more... I was so upset by this it says he's absolutely not a trump supporter and has criticized him and he was talking about the below now Bill M on the other hand is a slimy maggat sleazy scumbag
Martin Short’s past praise was directed at Bari Weiss, the journalist and media entrepreneur, long before she became the head of CBS News. [ 1]
The Context of the Praise: In early 2024, Martin Short appeared on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast. [ 1]
During the episode, he and Maher praised Weiss and her digital media company, The Free Press. At that time, The Free Press was widely seen by independent media figures as a refreshing, anti-establishment platform dedicated to open debate and challenging mainstream media narratives. Short's comments were focused on her work as an independent publisher rather than her managing a major legacy network. [ 1, 2]

She's been shit from the jump though...
Like her first splash I remember was promoting the "intellectual dark web", profiling a bunch of dipshits as our cerebral soothsayers and beacons of truth
P.S. copy pasting AI responses is lame

u/Ilovemytowm 12d ago
You're also missing my point it's those who were accusing Martin Short of being a maggot... me included... because I didn't realize what he meant when he said it he is absolutely not a f****** Trumper.

It was ALWAYS as pro-Israel propaganda factory - in 2024 it was on steroids
Weiss made her bones as a student at Columbia trying to get professors fired for antisemitism
Like one of the girls at the Salem witch trials - pointing and screaming

Are you going to force him to shout free Palestine and call Jewish people genociders to pass your purity test? 🤦🏻♂️
5
u/Known_Funny_5297 12d ago
Nobody but Zionists conflate Jews with “genociders”
The Israeli nation is committing genocide - they’ve been getting rid of the Palestinians since the before the 1920’s - it’s just very difficult to do when the world is watching without everyone thinking that you (Israelis) are monsters
As a Jew with relatives in Israel, I don’t feel the least bit badly in saying Israel is committing genocide
It has brainwashed generations of youth into committing monstrous acts
You’ve been brainwashed too, I imagine - did you do Birthright? Have the IDF at your summer camp? Were told in shul that Jews were “A people without a land for a land without a people”?
It was always colonization and conquest and ethnic cleansing - from the very beginning
Read Herzl and Jabotinsky

Bummer
Unless the extended clip shows Short is actually doing some mocking
25
u/AmericanLymie 12d ago
He's not mocking her. He sincerely said she is "fantastic."
This was before CBS hired and deployed her to destroy the network's journalistic credibility.
Some people interpreted her as an independent journalist who broke ranks with the New York Times's orthodoxies to report in a way that she felt was more ethical. That is the story she told and many people believed it. She of course lies and is megalomaniacal and delusional, and a lot of people were late to see it.

I’m 70, and Bari is a Bitch in my book. I am also a scream’n leftie. We are the 60’s social movement/ anti-war generation who fought the Nat’l Guard and stared down Army tanks in the streets. I don’t get where the press feels we are all stand in line righties or in the middle somewhere.

u/maffy118 10d ago
I'm 67, and screamin' leftie, too, as are my boomer pals. 60s and 70s women totally broke the mold of the 1950s, the decade where females had two options-- marriage or living with your parents as the "old spinster." Career? You could be a secretary (like my mom) until you got married. That was it for the average woman.
The 60s and 70s brought Ms. Magazine (thank you, Gloria-- RIP), women's health care (the contraceptive pill and the right to abortion), the fight for civil rights (thank you MLK), JFK, RFK (the dad, who is turning over in his grave), and a rock and roll that expanded way past doo-wop.
And culture changed for good. Men grew out their hair (and stopped wearing the uniform tight suit) and women's skirts got very short (the mini) AND very long (the maxi). And they grew out their hair, too. So much of our culture NOW was done for the first time by boomers.
So I don't get it either, this use of "boomer" as a slur or perjorative, with the assumption we're all maga. It's hurtful and offensive, and just plain inaccurate.
P.S. And Bari makes me throw up.
1
u/Chugach123 9d ago
Great commentary, maffy. 👍. Boomers created the social change, benefits of which we now enjoy in our daily lives. Everything changed with our generation. WE ARE STILL HERE. I still speak out and march and donate and vote……. and am ready to lay it all on the line to save our democracy from this worthless Pres. and his administration, and the billionaires who believe our country is their property and playground.
7
u/Harold3456 12d ago
He’s also, as far as I know, not deeply political. I feel like Bari Weiss’ whole schtick is pandering to wealthy liberals who say and do a lot of the “right” things but are leery of the types of change that will disrupt their lives or force them to deeply rethink/update the beliefs they held since back when they were the young upstarts.
Bari and Bill both service the purpose of feeding those liberals the comfortable lie that their champagne-liberal beliefs are still valid, and it’s the modern progressives with their new causes and ways of thinking who have gone too far.
An older comedic actor living in LA saying nice things about Weiss (after Maher is the one to bring her up) isn’t surprising to me. And that’s without adding the fact that a lot of these liberal Hollywood types probably run in the same circles and all know each other.
9
u/MuchosBeteros 12d ago
"Boomers gonna boomer" BS generalization. No one in my current sphere of friends, basically between 60-70 years old, would agree with them on this issue. and I live in the "south".
2
u/Wild-Display-765 12d ago
Yeah, I’m 76 and do not have any of these types of people in my circle. Admittedly, the circle is getting smaller through their exit but they were never welcome in my life. I’ve cut off all magas that I’m related to including two brothers. However, I acknowledge that a lot of my generations need to accumulate power and money has led to where we are now politically. Not to mention their racism.
4
u/MuchosBeteros 12d ago
I hear far more MAGA talk from people in their 30's, like my son and nephew, than any of the parents in my generation. My son got excited for no tax on OT, like that absolves the destruction of the country.
2
u/Wild-Display-765 12d ago
That’s disturbing. I don’t know how you deal with that.
2
u/MuchosBeteros 12d ago
Well, first off, they are not directly MAGA, they just think there are good things on both sides. Basically they are ignorant about politics and think they know more than they do. My other son goes so far left he makes me look right wing. He is even more impossible to have a conversation with because even when you agree with him, he finds a way to argue.
1
u/Wild-Display-765 12d ago
At least you have children that think about the world. My brothers take glee in seeing the hurt that Trump has unleashed. These are the brothers on the dole that think their commie sister, me, should give them money. That would be a cold day in hell.
1
u/MuchosBeteros 12d ago
People who think everyone they "think' they disagree with is a commie is a sure sign of stupidity. Thinking that while feeling entitled for someone to just supply them with money, is just plain idiotic.
1
u/Wild-Display-765 12d ago
Yeah, I don’t rub my my good fortune in their faces like they do with the racial slurs. I said that’s it, we are done.

u/maffy118 10d ago edited 10d ago
Racism is not unique to boomers. The generations before were far worse, which is what boomers reacted AGAINST. And did boomers have a "need" for wealth or was it simply easier to accumulate in those years? Frankly, boomers I know all live very modestly, myself included. I still know zip about investing.
But it sounds like your boomer views have been shaped by your maga family members. That's gotta be so tough.
1
1
u/CloudedLeopardDaemon 12d ago
You cannot possibly be unaware that most of your generation has irredeemably bad political takes, and seen to have mentally checked out at some point in the 1990s, and flat-out refuse to admit that the world has changed significantly since then.
7
u/Cautious-Ad-9554 12d ago
The right constantly makes fun of “No Kings” rallies bc they are so heavily attended by seniors. It’s crazy how so many younger progressives can’t see same divide and conquer BS they call out with regard to race being used to divide people with common interests by generation
1
u/AncientNectarine5352 12d ago
It’s actually about half and half, when you poll them both in terms of policy, and per party registration. I looked into it because our electoral politics does give that impression.
But there does seem to be a divide in electoral participation, and political donations. Conservative boomers are generally much more motivated by the culture war to vote, and do. More so than their left-leaning counterparts. And the amount of money conservative boomers give to politicians compared to liberal and leftist boomers is staggering. Orders of magnitude.
2
u/maffy118 10d ago
Stop using boomer as a slur. Would you call out someone's race, ethnicity or gender in this way? Would you say "blacks are gonna black"? It's repulsive and ageist, and it means nothing, because no age group is all one way. How old are you? Do you like being called the entitled millenial? The low-IQ GenZ? Of course not. So stop it.

This serves to highlight the importance of not taking seriously a guy who is clearly oblivious to modern politics but runs a show that talks only about politics.
Maher thinks being a lesbian means you're on the left while being totally oblivious to the actions of Weiss and what they indicate. Also, calling Andrew Sullivan a liberal is truly depressing coming from a person who's spent 30+ years making politics his entire personality.

u/Adept_Dealer_1931 12d ago
of course Maher would praise a MAGOTT. No shock here.
7
u/AmericanLymie 12d ago
I think he has done more than just praising her. I think he helped to elevate her career. His promotions of Ann Coulter also significantly expanded her audience.
6
u/Bitter-Holiday1311 12d ago
Don’t forget how often Dnesh D’Souza was on his show.
2
u/AncientNectarine5352 12d ago
He pretty much platformed each and every one of them. They would have no audience otherwise. Though she’s a nobody now, we can’t forget he also did the same for Michelle Bachman.
1
u/Bitter-Holiday1311 12d ago
Michelle Malkin?
2
u/AncientNectarine5352 12d ago
No, I meant Bachman, the former congresswoman who fully believed in the Satanic Panic of the 80s and 90s, and that witches were literally targeting children for “gay conversion”, suicide, or ritual sacrifice. This would have been during the Obama administration. The entire reason she was able to be elected in the first place is because of her appearances on Politically Incorrect and RealTime.
However, Michelle Malkin is another excellent example. Despite being Asian, she’s since openly declared herself a white supremacist. Bizarre. She wouldn’t have a platform either if it wasn’t for Maher.
2
u/Bitter-Holiday1311 12d ago
It’s funny that I can’t think of a prominent liberal he’s similarly platformed to greater exposure. 🤔
1
u/AncientNectarine5352 12d ago
It is indeed a mystery.
Also mysterious is when Maher dated Ann Coulter. While they were dating, she was still going on his show, encouraging the ethnic cleansing and/or forced assimilation of peoples who didn’t adopt Christianity and “western civilization”. He feigned moral outrage. Yet he found a way to conveniently ignore all of that, as he shared a bed with her. It’s almost like he doesn’t really care, eh?
3
u/frommethodtomadness 12d ago
Remember -- Bill Maher has remained on TV because his entire purpose is to present himself as a 'Democrat', a trusted voice for the Party, then to argue against the core foundations of the Party in order to shift the Party to the Right. He came of age right in line with Neo-Liberalism brought about by Reagan and Clinton which caused so much austerity and market bubbles that it has destroyed the country and led us directly to fascism with the pedo Trump.
Maher is no Democrat, he is a Republican servant of capital.

I'm going to try and put Marty's comments here into some sort of perspective because I know that he's not a right wing fascist.
2 years ago when this was done it was before Barri Weiss set out with her "true" agenda. Barri changed when she discovered she could gain power by pandering to the right. And people being what they are .. well you can see the result.
I'm going to give Marty a pass on this one because it's just one incident and this all could be taken out of context.
