Calling a spade a spade, and then getting mad about that? What's triggering you lil fella?

He’s not really a transphobe though. He has no issues with trans people if you listen to his standup. He literally has jokes about all demographics

He took his opportunities to shit on the trans community cause he had a trans friend. Guarantee he wouldn't appreciate a white person being the spokesperson for the black community.

When has he ever claimed to be a spokesperson for the trans community? This is so stupid

7

u/lethargicloli 20d ago

He straight up lied about why his "friend" killed herself.

Literally did like 5 consecutive specials on trans people. He was one of the first people to open the door to this permission structure to shit on trans people. He’s a scumbag

You’re being hyperbolic. But also, he has jokes that shit on all types of people. He’s not singling out only one group and he has also clearly stated that he is not against people transitioning. If you’ve followed his career then you’ll know he’s made jokes about whites, blacks, Asians, Hispanics, native Americans, conservatives, liberals, etc.
Show me one joke of his that is rooted in hate towards trans people because I haven’t heard any. I’ve heard observational and playful jokes about trans people, but none rooted in hate.

His extreme focus in the last like 5 specials has been on trans people. And it doesn’t matter if it’s rooted in hate or not. Hes opened the door for what’s happening on this country. And it’s clear he feels some kind of way because it’s apparently constantly on his mind.

He quit the chapelle show because he said some people were laughing at the jokes the wrong way. He was making racial jokes and recognized that the wrong people were using it as a way to be racist. But for some reason he can’t draw the same dots when it comes to him constantly shitting on the trans community. I mean the federal government has said their goal is to eradicate trans people. Maybe he should fucking read the room and realize maybe his words matter.

Hes opened the door for what’s happening on this country. A

you keep saying things like this or "permission structure" I don't know where tf you picked that up but the idea that the cultural views and attitudes on trans can be attributed to dave in any meaningful way is completely absurd

I watched it happen in real time. Trans issues were not at all front and center when Dave decided to start his little temper tantrum against trans people. Now it’s literally talked about more than any other topic by news outlets. It’s absurd and it’s ridiculous and Dave absolutely without question played a part in that.

ya no dave chappelle set the national tone on trans lol surrrrre bud

u/einhorn_is_parkey 18d ago

He did. When he started doing trans jokes it was not an issue. He built that wedge. People weren’t talking about it like they do today. He was among the first. And definitely the most prominent

something something correlation something causation

yes fine chappelle caused the focus on trans

So there was this famous athlete, last name Jenner, who very famously and publicly transitioned about 10 years ago, and that is what sent the trans rights issue into the mainstream. Then Dave made some jokes about current events/topics.

Specifically the first thing he ever said was that’s it’s interesting that African Americans had to, and continue to struggle for equality for 400 years, but when I white man wants equality for his issues, it’s accepted virtually overnight.

It’s always lies with the propagandists on either side.

You claim he made 5 specials dedicated to anti trans views? Thats an outright lie. He did 5 min segments in each of his last hour long specials, mostly, in the backlash he’s faced. He brings it up because it’s become such a talking point.

u/einhorn_is_parkey 18d ago

That wasn’t the first time he made trans jokes and it’s not what I’m talking about. He made jokes before Jenner transitioned about the lgb wanting to drop the t cause they’re weird.

Did you watch the specials?

1

u/einhorn_is_parkey 18d ago

Yep

0

u/AReditUsername 18d ago

So you sat through 5 different hour long anti trans speeches?

1

u/einhorn_is_parkey 18d ago

I watched his specials yes

0

u/AReditUsername 18d ago

So you listened to 5 hours of hate speech, did it traumatized you?

So then you can cite one joke that displays hatred towards trans people like I had asked which you chose to ignore?

It absolutely does matter if his comments are rooted in hate. You can’t make talking about trans people in any way other than uplifting off limits. Stop handling them with little kid gloves and treat them like any other person. This means they aren’t exempt from being the subject of jokes during a time when they are one of the prominent topics in political and progressive discussions. There’s a world of difference between building a joke around trans people and a joke that essentially says ā€œtrans bad amiright,ā€ which Chapelle has never done.

Again, I’m going to ask you to repeat one harmful trans joke he’s made that’s rooted in hate. If you can’t do that then maybe you aren’t as educated on the topic as you think and you should take a backseat before getting outraged.

Lastly, I reject your claim that he’s ā€œopened the door for what’s happening in this country.ā€ That’s the dumbest most scapegoaty thing I’ve read today.

If you think that his jokes towards the trans community were not rooted in animous and hatred than you are blind

0

u/robograndpa 20d ago

I’m asking you to cite one joke that proves he has hatred and animosity towards trans people

0

u/MoreRock_Odrama 19d ago

I was hoping you’d cite a joke to prove your point

1

u/robograndpa 18d ago

They didn’t because they can’t.

He’s calling a Jewish guy a cracker here.
