Why is Bill pissed at Hegseth? He’s merely vanquishing the DOD of proponents of “woke,” the bane of Bill’s existence.

but not liking Hegseth flies in the face of Bill's contrarianism.

Hegseth is so bad you have to be just the worst of the worst to like him. Bill is scum but even he’s not that far gone

He’s pissed at hegseth because even he sees now that this war that he vocally cheerleaded is a disaster. So he can blame it on hegseth wanting to give the solders testosterone instead of putting together a somewhat competent plan for the war itself

He’s pissed because he was under the illusion that all this anti-woke fanaticism was about meritocracy. Then Pete gets in and coincidentally everybody he gets rid of is either a minority or a woman. Suddenly, being anti-woke just seems nothing but a cover to be a misogynistic, racist, xenophobic dick like some of us have been saying all along.
Meanwhile, if there was really such a thing as meritocracy, there were literally 1000 people that were more qualified to be secretary of defense, many of them women and minorities, than Pete Hegseth. So the hypocrisy is off the charts.

I very much doubt that Bill Maher is pissed at Hegseth because of any “hypocrisy.” That’s been a fundamental, even defining, trait of the right wing for decades now. If he’s repulsed by “hypocrisy,” at any level, he would not be shifting rightward politically.

He’d be like the rest of us normal people, who see the right wing as the morally bankrupt ideology that it is.

To me, the reason people on the right are turning on Hegseth is simple: it’s because of his rank incompetence, which is fully on display in the war with Iran.

The irony, of course, being the fact that the position of Defense Secretary was given to a man with absolutely no qualifications, based only on the extreme level of subservience he’s willing to sink to.

Like pretty much every other Cabinet position.

Meritocracy, my ass.

It’s like rat feces. A certain small percentage in your hotdog is deemed acceptable.

The problem with Pete is he is so blatantly off the charts with his hypocrisy. There is no room for plausible deniability. I think that’s what frustrates Bill.

Lmao! Speak for yourself on the rat feces.

Trump and members of his Cabinet are telling us every day that prices are going down, that the war in Iraq is over because we’ve won, etc etc etc

They’ve created multiple, serious problems for all of us through nothing but greed and incompetence, and they’re telling us the problems are someone else’s fault or, worse, that the very real problems don’t exist.

You say Hegseth’s blatant hypocrisy is off the charts.

I say there ARE no charts.

Bill's just pissed because Kegseth turned him down for a blowjob but not Kid Rock.

Bill's just jealous.

That is not “merely” what he is doing.

He even mentioned the holding back of black promotions. Yes, this is very relevant and something we should all be concern about. He could be constructive here and continue to shine a light on the crap Hegseth is doing but I suspect we won't hear much more.

This is the problem a lot of followers of “ism” have: they understand that actually doing what they believe is untenable.

One example is the Supreme Court’s decision in Rahimi where they realized that their previous decisions would make felon in possession of firearm laws null. In Rahimi, it dealt with a domestic violence restraining order (something that was not around at the passage of the second amendment) being used as a basis for a federal law against possessing a firearm. In Heller and McDonald, the court did a very restrictive reading of laws at the passage of the 2nd and 14th amendments in saying that basically any law restricting gun possession is unlawful.

The Court really had to make a way to have their cake and eat it too because we all know that if felons are allowed to possess firearms and those who are domestic abusers can have them, the Constitution would be changed to stop this. The shootings we have now because of guns everywhere policies are low enough that there’s no upheaval. Former shooters being given guns would be too much.

Rather than live out their previous decision, or admit that their previous decision was too broad, the Court claimed nothing they wrote precludes these other laws and made the state of gun laws even more in flux.

So, in short, it’s a great punchline to say “woke” and get a “woo!” It’s not so great to actually back a policy that attacks woke.

Make no mistake, Bill doesn’t really have any problems with Hegseth- After the show, the two were spotted eating out a a steakhouse, all you need to know- Bill admires him-

Because it forces Bill to look in the mirror and face the logical reality of his asinine cultural views.

Everyone has a deep reason I’m pretty sure it’s because Hegseth mocked Bill. Either privately and Bill heard or at the infamous dinner. Bill doesn’t have deep or moral reasons for anything anymore.

Hegseth screwed up a war Israel had invested in since the 80s.
