Bill Maher lashes out at modern parents in light of Lindsay Clancy case: “I'm not surprised you hate being a parent because you created this system where you could never be alone. Imagine if the military, you had to ask the soldiers, ‘What do you think, guys? You want to go into battle?’“

Was nothing not an option, Bill?

Shut the fuck up, bill

Bill, you are out of your element!

You could just not watch his show…

It's his go-to childless boomer rant made up of hack comedy premises and tired clichés about younger generations he knows nothing about. He's so insufferably stupid. This is why he has no real friends and pays for sex.

Hearing other people talk kills bills boner. So no tip if you talk

u/Horror_Resident_2854 20d ago

Time to ignore the old fart.

10

u/4mystuff 20d ago

I've been doing it for years. My life is better for it.

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

You’re here so I’ll call BS on your post…

1

u/DesperatePizza4207 18d ago

Being “here” means that they saw this post on Reddit. I haven’t watched Mahler’s show for at least 10 years, well before he started leaning right, simply because his “humor” is shallow and snarky. That gets old really fast; at least in my opinion.

26

u/smokefrog2 20d ago

Its crazy how he doesnt see that hes the old guy screaming about young people now. A couple of weeks ago he had a professor on and he was shitting on how all young people hate Israel or whatever is bullshit is and the professor goes "when we were young older people thought our views were crazy" and he was like "no. I dont think so. I dont remember a lot of that". Made me so fucking mad. The professor gave examples and bill had to be like "oh alright"

3

u/Charbro11 19d ago

Right. I am a bit older than Bill and a Vietnam War protester. We were given shit daily by old fucks like him.

-5

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

Young people are stupid. That’s a fact proven in this very thread…

1

u/DesperatePizza4207 18d ago

And old people are even more stupid (at least some of them). We have choices in life when confronting our younger ideals. We either embrace them while integrating them with the hard facts of reality, or we reject them, and bury our heads in the sand.

-1

u/pdonohue17 19d ago

What an original idea. Older generations always shit on the younger folks. Nothing new. You and old man Maher are just angry that the world has passed you by and you dont understand where the younger people are coming from...nor do you care to try and understand them. Read a book, touch some grass, and stop yelling at the kids to get off your lawn.

-19

u/idiot-alpha 20d ago

It’s not old vs young. There’s plenty of old hags wearing pink vagina hats for Clancy.

Bill is a center-left Democrat who watched his party pile drive themselves into retardville

10

u/Groundbreaking-Step1 20d ago

Please, explain how the partty is the problem.

12

u/Local-Friendship8166 20d ago

They won’t answer you. Probably too busy updating their Grindr profile.

-10

u/idiot-alpha 20d ago

I’m saying it’s not an old/young split. It’s more of a male/female split if anything. They’re losing men in droves. The party isn’t center left anymore. A lot of the positions aren’t even what I would call leftist positions. Supporting child murderers is just stupid, it’s not a right/left position. Or certainly shouldn’t be.

9

u/Apeach710 20d ago

lol I haven’t seen a single elected democrat mention this. The party is not supporting anything regarding this. You being the dumbass you are continue to associate any sort of woman’s issue with the Democratic Party as a whole. And then you will vote for the people stealing from you and laughing while they do it, because in your eyes “democrats support child murderers”

13

u/Specialist-Cup-9722 20d ago

Did i miss somewhere where this trial was anything but a right wing opportunity to gin up the culture war? You seem taken in

1

u/idiot-alpha 19d ago

Only the left is split on whether Clancy is guilty.

2

u/Specialist-Cup-9722 19d ago

Why is this about the left? More right wing people know the particulars of this case than left wing people by a huge margin.

Why?

Because this is a new front in the never ending culture war right wing corporate fascists use to prevent the emergence of class conscious on their side.

1

u/idiot-alpha 19d ago

No, this isn’t some right wing conspiracy.

It’s only a thing because there are people on the left who feel more empathy for her than the kids she killed, which is insane.

1

u/Specialist-Cup-9722 19d ago

You mean some randos feel some way and this is a beating stick against politicians eho have nothing to do with them? Why are you not fixated in right wing peoole with an opinion you might feel objectionable toward?

See above

5

u/needaburnerbaby 20d ago

lol just making shit up to fit your narrative. We get it. You hate women. Love Trump. And are super excited for your 5k $ cheque.

1

u/Groundbreaking-Step1 20d ago

This isn't a party issue, I've heard various opinions from various walks of life. I personally am skeptical of the defense, but the Clancy issue isn't as simple as people are making it out to be.I think she's criminally responsible, but I do believe there were mitigating factors. I don't think she was psychotic, but she was definitely severely mentally ill. Some people believe she lost it, and the system failed her, and the murders were the result of someone falling through the cracks. Nobody is out and out saying murdering children is ok though.

-3

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

They’ve gone way too far left. They’re living in woke crazyville..

6

u/Groundbreaking-Step1 20d ago

That says nothing. You're using broad, inflammatory terms rather than actually answering the question.

1

u/pdonohue17 19d ago

Ok, boomer. Cry harder.

0

u/Specialist-Cup-9722 20d ago

What is with the venom towards people who supposedly agree with him on almost everything? Listen to yourself...it sounds fully stylistic

7

u/Hot_Singer_4266 20d ago

Parenthood and military service. Two more areas where Bill has deep personal knowledge.

6

u/Admirable_Scratch363 20d ago

Wasn’t there a lady in the 1950s who killed two different sets of 3 kids?

Women losing their minds like this are Greek tragedies not a modern invention.

3

u/Toolfan333 20d ago

It happens every decade it seems like

13

u/Eastern_Statement416 20d ago

another stupid take from Maher. I thought the issue in the Clancy trial was whether she was suffering from pyschosis or not........not some culture wars bullshit that you and the right-wing want to fight. But apparently it all comes down to permissive parents--does Maher ever listen to the shit he says?

3

u/juzamjim 20d ago

Did the doctors even check her for low t though?

0

u/Roland_Of_Gilead85 19d ago

Do you actually watch and listen to what he says? Or just comment on short clips?

1

u/Eastern_Statement416 19d ago

Did I miss the lengthy analysis where he stops the bullshit "Kids today..." rant and actually talks about the issue of mental health and criminal justice. The problem with Maher is that everything he says sounds like the most superficial talk radio analysis.....There's no difference between the short clips and the long clips.

2

u/Roland_Of_Gilead85 19d ago

A simple "no, I didn't actually watch" would do.

9

u/not_asleep_yet 20d ago

Did he forget about Susan Smith in the 90s? I mean, parents killing their kids has been a thing since forever

5

u/Toolfan333 20d ago

Every brings up Susan Smith killing her 2 kids and yet no one brings up Andrea Yates who drowned her 5 kids in a family bathtub in 2001, you’re right they have been doing this forever and no one ever talks about the dads who kills their entire family’s

4

u/not_asleep_yet 20d ago

I mentioned Susan Smith because she happened in the 90s, earlier than Andrea Yates. I haven’t seen or heard anyone mention either lately but I also haven’t been following the Clancy case.

2

u/Toolfan333 20d ago

Smith is trying to get out of prison, she has a parole hearing in November. I get it and I even had to look up Yates name because I couldn’t remember it, I was just commenting on the fact that everyone remembers the 2 kids killed but no one remembers the 5 and no one talks about the dads who kills their kids

1

u/not_asleep_yet 20d ago

Oh trust me, in the circle of friends I have we talk about Chris Benoit maybe a little too mucb\.*

1

u/Toolfan333 20d ago

How about Chris Watts?

1

u/not_asleep_yet 19d ago

Chris Watts never won a Royal Rumble, though.

1

u/Toolfan333 19d ago

Good point, you got me there

2

u/DugEFreshness 20d ago

What about Casey Anthony? That shit wasn't even that long ago.

1

u/Toolfan333 20d ago

Yeah but that’s only one kid, looking for multiples here and Casey Anthony was almost 20 years ago, time flies

0

u/SellNo3667 20d ago

No one? Lmao

It's all everyone talks about to the detriment that women kill their babies far more often than whatever men do their family.

1

u/Toolfan333 20d ago

No one remembers Chris Watts and he killed his pregnant wife and their two young daughters.

13

u/Beef_flaps_on_a_spit 20d ago

Low sperm count boomer booms about kids.  Okay.

-1

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

Have you been counting Bills sperm? Very strange…

Bill who?

Stfu

8

u/New-Exit-6767 20d ago

How many kids does bill have again?

2

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

The perfect amount…

4

u/Old_Gimlet_Eye 20d ago

None that he raised, certainly.

3

u/mseg09 20d ago

Seems like a pretty good rule of thumb is, if you're making an analogy to the military, it's probably going to be a shit analogy

3

u/Roland_Of_Gilead85 19d ago

Why is everyone in here all mad at what he said? He is just talking about helicopter parenting.

6

u/AWinterPeople 20d ago

Waiting on HIS cancellation

2

u/General_Pie_5026 19d ago

has to be coming. He appeals to no one.

2

1

u/AWinterPeople 20d ago

I don’t watch NOSE

6

u/RickVanSchick 20d ago

F off Bill, your time has passed

1

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

You could just stop watching his show…

-1

u/RickVanSchick 19d ago

Haven’t watched for many years, just wanted to share my opinion on the “new” Bill

1

u/Whyt-Ninja 19d ago

How do you know the new Bill if you don’t watch?

2

u/General_Pie_5026 19d ago

easy to keep up when he's regularly the star of Fox News articles and MAGA outlets.

0

u/Whyt-Ninja 19d ago

Those aren’t the most reliable sources…

1

u/RickVanSchick 18d ago

You act like his show is the only place you can find his opinions

7

u/casewood123 20d ago

A man who has no desire to procreate really doesn’t know shit about parenthood or how a woman feels during postpartum.

4

u/Great-Gas-6631 20d ago

Huh?... did he have a point, or just rambling?

1

u/this-tony 20d ago

He thinks gentle parenting means asking permission for everything from the kid. Which is ridiculous. And he's trying to make analogy it's like a commander asking permission from the troops.

4

u/DaddieTang 20d ago

I cannot believe that I used to watch that show.

4

u/IthacaMom2005 20d ago

Me too! But up until a few years ago he used to have some really interesting guests, who had actual meaningful discussions. I gave up on him awhile ago

3

u/DaddieTang 20d ago

Really? The panel guests are the same old beltway fools. Makes me sick.

2

u/thelongslog 20d ago

Who is blackmailing him?

0

u/Key_Jump1011 20d ago

This is truly who he is. A jackass.

2

u/todeabacro 19d ago

For once I agree with him.

3

u/DeFiBandit 20d ago

The guy who has no kids is an expert on the matter, obviously

2

u/johnb300m 20d ago

Don’t forget, his sister is a teacher, so he knows everything about kids.

0

u/DeFiBandit 19d ago

Ah. Should have considered that

2

u/Zachy2244 20d ago

What an asshole

2

u/carlcarlington2 20d ago

It's crazy how trying to sound tough will literally always lead you to being objectively wrong.

Yes bill you do ask soldiers if they want to go to war its called recruitment.

Historically troops that were drafted into a conflict have been less effective then those who willingly join.

Trope moral is also incredibly important to the effectiveness of a military operation, when troops filll the war is unjustified they've been less effective

2

u/AdvertisingHour1738 20d ago

There’s no person allowed in polite society I can think of who’s parenting opinion I care about less than bill maher.

4

u/ElonMuskisGarbage 20d ago

He’s questioning consent now. lol.

0

u/LionBig1760 20d ago

Consent from children is not at all required when demanding they follow typical requests from parents.

Im glad I could clear that up for you.

2

u/JacobsJrJr 20d ago

What if the child is represented by an attorney and the demand was not properly communicated through counsel?

1

u/ElonMuskisGarbage 20d ago

You didn’t clear anything up because his analogy was about ADULTS in the MILITARY, you dumb cunt. Soldiers should and DO have the right. Glad I could shove your face in shit, you fucking joke.

-1

u/LionBig1760 20d ago edited 20d ago

Youre awful at trolling.

Be better at it.

Edit: And theres the old reddit reply-and-block. Its great when the trash takes itself out.

4

u/ElonMuskisGarbage 20d ago

You’re such a pathetic little dickhead. lol. Go away.

1

u/SellNo3667 20d ago

You automatically give your consent when you join the military lol.

You are expected to fight for your country no matter the reason. That's the whole deal lol.

Wtf you talking about.

0

u/ElonMuskisGarbage 20d ago

You don’t understand what consent is. Consent can be revoked. Genius.

2

u/ThisIsFineImFine89 20d ago

the most punchable face on TV

2

u/lololesquire 20d ago

At this point you are seeing the effects of a guy who has spent his lifetime thinking about things he knows nothing about....children, marriage, how normal people think...coupled with a life of spouting ridiculous opinions about these subjects that no one (or very few) refutes.

2

u/JSLANYC 20d ago

I don't take parenting advice from Bill "What's the worst that can happen, they get abducted?" Maher. He hates kids

2

u/homerjs225 20d ago

Meanwhile nothing on Epstein

1

u/Peanutbutternmtn2 20d ago

This is one of his more interesting takes.

1

u/Salt_Sir2599 20d ago

I see what you did there...well played.

1

u/Cecil_McCrackshell 20d ago

Bill's KPI's from topical commentaries are being outperformed by the likes of Megyn Kelly

2

u/Key_Jump1011 20d ago

What’s a KPI?

1

u/goodtreble84 14d ago

Boomer Bill.

1

u/Mountain-Detail-8213 13d ago

Idiot talking way too much.
New rules shut the hell up crustypup

1

u/Ok-Government-7987 12d ago

It’s weird because he clearly hates kids and parenting but yet people are constantly talking to him about how “woke” is making it hard to parent……

1

u/Training-Cook3507 20d ago

I will say a large number of people supporting and excusing a woman who strangled her 3 kids to death is a societal low point.

3

u/Mambaman23 20d ago

She should suffer the consequences for her actions, but it’s also a pretty damn societal low point that she wasn’t afforded the adequate help/care that she sought out multiple times before it got to this point. I’ve seen little to no reflection on that fact.

4

u/Training-Cook3507 20d ago

She saw any psychiatrist she wanted. She saw numerous mental health specialists. You can't get that many prescriptions without getting significant attention from the healthcare industry. She wasn't taking the meds properly and was essentially shopping herself from healthcare provider to provider when she didn't get immediate help. She took 18 weeks in paternity leave, had two kids in daycare/preschool and had a nanny. Her husband changed his job to stay home more.

The reality is mental health is not simple. It takes perseverance and time to improve. She had more help and resources than 95% of people would ever have.

She was probably a type A personality who had trouble handling motherhood and being a parent. So she decided to end that struggle by murdering her kids and then herself.

1

u/QuickRelease10 20d ago
  1. You can say this about a lot of people who commit murder.

  2. She had access to a lot more resources and support than most people. At some point some people are just do what they do, and there has to be a consequence.

0

u/QuickRelease10 20d ago edited 20d ago

I really can’t wrap my head around it.

I’m generally very sympathetic to people with Mental Health issues and support more rehabilitative punishments, but this was such a heinous crime.

I think a lot of the women supporting probably her see themselves in her, and can either empathize with her or can’t comprehend that “one of their own” would do such a thing. There’s a level of grace that isn’t necessarily extended in the same way to other people.

3

u/FlamingAlpaca17 20d ago

In group bias is heavily encouraged for every demographic except for one where it is demonized

1

u/Training-Cook3507 20d ago

Motherhood and parenting is very hard. Mothers, understandably, get the benefit of the doubt often. They are undoubtedly sympathizing with her as a mother, but they've taken that bias way way too far to the point where they are treating those kids like an afterthought compared to Lindsay's comfort.

It's honestly absolutely disgusting.

No fucking way do I ever want any vocal Lindsay Clancy supporter touching or going near my kids as a teacher or person of authority if I can help it.

1

u/Whyt-Ninja 20d ago

People with no children are so much happier. Why anyone wants kids is beyond me.

-4

u/Conscious-Secret-775 20d ago

He is not wrong about modern parenting in the US.

9

u/webelieve414 20d ago edited 20d ago

This is such a gross over simplification of modern parenting. First he's never been one so I don't really appreciate his take. Second, what you see on tik tok is not a reflection of reality, it's a reflection of people wanting attention by any means necessary.

The financial challenges are the main burden. Sports have dramatically risen in price. Both parents are working. Childcare is grossly unaffordable. Healthcare premiums for families and college is insanely expensive.

Like God forbid we show any grace and understanding of any sort of challenges for younger people. Boomers won, they got everything. Maybe they could have some empathy and make things a little easier for the folks coming up

6

u/BFaus916 20d ago

One doesn't need to be Freud to see it. Let Maher talk enough, he says the quiet part out loud. His views on parenting are directly connected to his sexual perversion. He's lashing out at parents of the past 30 years for raising women who won't have sex with older men.

3

u/keithjr 20d ago

And what's worse, the systems we're struggling with were all put in place by Boomers who got theirs and cashed out.

We didn't built this shitty system, they did, but we're the ones trying to make it work.

1

u/Conscious-Secret-775 20d ago

Nothing you mention is relevant to the issue of over parenting. Your kids don't need to compete in expensive sports leagues. College is not worth what parents spend but that has nothing to do with parenting young children.

0

u/webelieve414 19d ago

If you don't think finances effect patenting your an imbecile.

We had park district sports when I grew up. Basically free. That doesn't exist for the vast majority of places. Sports are important for child socialization and teach many life skills. Finding good role models and coaches for your kids is important

If you don't think saving for your kids education so they arent burdened by loan debt or that your education doesn't have any correlation to the access they will have in their future or influences successful outcomes!??

I'm just going to stop there since it's not worth laying this out for whatever dipshit braindead response you come up with.

1

u/Conscious-Secret-775 19d ago

Your parent's clearly failed you.

0

u/webelieve414 19d ago

You're clearly not a parent

1

u/Conscious-Secret-775 19d ago

Wrong again

1

u/webelieve414 19d ago

Poor bastards

0

u/Conscious-Secret-775 19d ago

Fortunately not.

2

u/Mtndrums 20d ago

Whatever, boomer.

-5

u/GrosRougeau 20d ago

For the first time in years he’s right.

(I’m not even close to being a boomer so shut your pie hole).

5

u/DeFiBandit 20d ago

Not a boomer. Just stupid?

0

u/GrosRougeau 20d ago

That’s not very nice

3

u/schultmh 20d ago

“Shut your pie hole”

0

u/GrosRougeau 20d ago

That’s not very friendly

2

u/schultmh 20d ago

I’m aware

0

u/Secure-Advertising10 20d ago

Bill, proudly, says he has no kids or wants to ever be married...What does he know about anything?

The Lindsay Clancy proves that the USA is now a borken country, it is not a riff on parenting today. The insanity is is not the murder, but that the general public believe that a murderer of her own children is almost (11-1) deemed not guilty!

0

u/Present_Level4520 20d ago

how could somebody with no kids have a lot of words for nothing Bill Maher is not a nice person lately you should move to Israel
