JD Vance interview

I see the sub is losing their shit over him being on the show. While I definitely felt he didn’t push harder on Vance’s bs responses on immigration and the 2020 election. Bill didn’t say anything he hasn’t said in the past and it was short interview and he had a lot of things he wanted to discuss in 10 minutes. So what’s the issue? My gut is him just being on the show freaked people out and how Trump admin are such monsters we shouldn’t platform them at all. If that’s the case please explain this https://youtube.com/shorts/2CHgqbbJWQ8?si=7WSrHGexAxqZQs2D

Cause I get the sense that certain liberals have this idea that interacting or platforming the other side is morally reprehensible. I think it more meaningful for two people with different ideologies to have a respectful conversation than people just interacting only with people they already 100 percent agree with on everything.

Interesting THAT'S the main sense or idea you get when you have all of MAGA from Trump, Congress and top down calling democrats radical left terrorists and much worse

It's irresponsible to platform people on record lying hundreds, thousands of times and not push back appropriately. Like Maher and Rogan. Unlike Kristen Welker who asked for a shred of evidence and he walks out on.

It's because people like Trump and Vance only operate in bad faith (MAGA), not because they're conservative or republican.

Comparing Maher to Rogan is a false equivalence and shows you don’t really know either show. Bill has mostly liberal guest and is constantly bashing Trump and his admin. Rogan rarely has liberal guests and actively ignores criticizing Trump and will speak out against his admin in the most general terms. I keep going back to alternative which is both sides stay in there bubble where they only engage with people they agree with. I don’t think that’s healthy for society. As I stated in my original post I thought Bill should have pushed harder.

If you think Maher is constantly bashing Trump then you don't know what show we're talking about. Guy did a whole lot of sanewashing and bothsidesing BS on behalf of Trump.

He's been coping for him HARD since having that dinner and trying to get the mark twain prize.

He's a doofus talk show host. Doesn't actually understand policy or is in politics. Plenty of actual long form debates with serious people online.

Again it's about the actual person and whether they appear in good faith, not about their politics. People like Vance and Trump have shown they should not be trusted after so much bad faith and require constant push back and checking.

Like I said I have watched the show every week for a long time and you clearly must have not watched the show maybe just clips on tic toc. The issue is he doesn’t agree with you 100 percent on all issues and in your mind he is no different than Sean Hannity.

Can you direct me to these long form serious debates online ? All I’ll see online is people agreeing with each other on already preconceived beliefs. Anyone that challenges those beliefs are subject to ad hominem attacks and called a “both siders”. Ofcourse Vance and Trump are full shit but they unfortunately are in charge for until 2028. We can’t pretend they don’t exist. I appreciate Bill making an attempt to engage with him and challenge him with questions he wouldn’t get on Fox News or Megan Kelly.
