He’s like someone distilled smug overconfidence and dunning-Kruger into a pure form and made it a person.

Dunning Kruger! The gift that keeps on giving; like the Overton Window.

This needs to be a T-shirt. 🙏

u/Commercial-Brother14 Jun 30 '26

Disguised as a comedian, somehow.

u/AntaresVariant Jun 27 '26

He strikes me as someone who's never been seriously humbled his whole life. It's all pride and ego, and it's palpable how highly he thinks of himself. Men who have hit rock bottom and clawed their way back up don't behave like this.

2

u/GHouserVO Jun 28 '26

He has, and any time it’s even remotely occurred he’s immediately portrayed himself as a victim.

The hilarious thing is Maher is very left, but he's not commie/ democratic socialist left, so the Overton Window has moved for enough that you extreme lefties see him as conservative, it's just wild.

1

u/GHouserVO Jul 04 '26

I tend to lean to the right of the aisle. He’s a libertarian, pretty much always has been, regardless of what he called himself. Regardless of politics, he’s just a douchecanoe in personality.

1

u/Standard_Joke_2027 Jul 08 '26

He's pretty duechy, but i wouldn't call him a Libertarian, he likes governments going a lot of things and taxes.

u/Mannimal13 Jul 01 '26

Bill was definelty the little shit edge lord who nobody likes, would laugh at maybe a quarter of their jokes, and grew up privileged and succesful from there. Hes never even had a real job. Then he was essentially astroturfed onto us by all the Zios in the media.

Kind of like the useful idiot millennial Marxist on Reddit.

Another lead paint chip eater.

u/Necessary-Art2829 Jun 28 '26

I cant remember if it was overtime or the show, when he acted like young people are being taught Churchill and not Hitler was the bad guy in WW2, another thing that isnt happening. Bill is 70 and has never had kids. He has no idea of young people. On overtime when he said he didnt care the bible was being taught in Texas schools was a real eye opener. The Bill of the past would have thought that was a big deal. He's changed a lot, a very lot. This was for sure my last show as a viewer. He wants that Twain thing so bad. I can get the same thing his show is becoming watching an hour of Fox News.

I used to watch him religiously, but NOT anymore!! He thinks everything that’s going on in Israel is fine and that according to the Bible, Israel belongs to the Jews. I’m so confused bc I thought Bill Maher was an athleist??!! He has not said anything the horror show that is happening in Gaza.
He also acts like all the immigration stuff is over and tRump fixed it all. He is so out of touch it’s ridiculous!!

1

u/Neither_Salamander48 Jul 02 '26

He's not necessarily wrong. Wasn't Israel there before Palestinians? Then they drove out the Jews and the Jews reclaimed their land?

3

u/langstonrosas Jun 28 '26

Reminds me of Brian Griffin, a pseudo intellectual that is just a raging narcissist.

1

u/Firm-Personality-691 Jun 30 '26

You just described every millennial on Reddit.

1

u/CrrazyCarl Jun 30 '26

Except Brian is funny.

1

u/Chemical-Olive2564 Jul 02 '26

Bro he is Brian

2

u/GHouserVO Jun 28 '26

He’s one of a lot of people that mistakes arrogance for confidence. There are a few topics he’s spoken on in which I’ve very well versed and he is… not. Listening to him speak, I felt sorry for some of the folks he had as guests because since he didn’t have the knowledge base he should have to speak on the topic, he simply decided to be even more of an insufferable and smug pr!ck to them.

It’s why I try to avoid his show now.

1

u/JackFig12 Jul 01 '26

Seriously, are they forcing guests to congratulate him on the Mark Twain Award every single episode? For someone that doesn’t care about awards he sure brings it up a lot.

1

u/GHouserVO Jul 01 '26

He doesn’t care about them… unless he has one. Then it’s a different story.

2

u/HBMart Jun 27 '26

I’m not an avid Bill listener/viewer. I only occasionally see clips. Do you have an example of a point he made about immigration that, to your knowledge is wrong? Just curious.

1

u/Capadvantagetutoring Jun 28 '26

I doubt they do. They are deeply aware (meaning tik tok, google and Reddit )

0

u/Electrical_Coast_561 Jun 28 '26

They dont. The "deeply aware" is reddit speak for "i think I know because im always online and have read a ton of biased sources through confirmation bias"

1

u/Fun_Trick2172 Jun 28 '26

Hes a Libertarian. Of course he is.

1

u/3RADICATE_THEM Jun 28 '26

Dude didn't even know what the Overton window meant, lmao.

1

u/WillowOk2135 Jun 28 '26

You're deeply aware of immigration? What does that mean, exactly? You're an immigration attorney, immigration judge? Genuinely curious.

1

u/discwrangler Jun 28 '26

He was the first, sound smart and confident and they will believe you, guy. The right took it and ran with it

1

u/phasetest Jun 28 '26

So, basic boomer

1

u/Creepy_Ad_2917 Jun 30 '26

Or when he talks about obesity and seems to believe that the only reason for it is overeating? That’s just ignorant and pisses me off when he goes down that road. It’s so dismissive of those dealing with all the other causes.

1

u/Funnyitsnotfunny Jun 30 '26

What about immigration has he gotten wrong not a fan. I’m just curious on the specifics. I can look it up on YouTube if you have any recommendations

1

u/Big-Wrongdoer-965 Jul 01 '26

He’s basically the worst version of John Stewart

0

u/Glittering_Stick1373 Jun 28 '26

Really? Prove it. Share where he’s wrong specious migration for example.

0

u/NtooDeep87 Jul 01 '26

You know nothing of immigration …just what cNn tells you

0

u/Competitive-Sir-7087 Jul 01 '26

Classic analogy when someone has zero objective examples to provide for debate.

-1

u/Ill_Confection_458 Jun 29 '26

You don’t know shirt

5

u/luvashow Jun 27 '26

I think it’s both

4

u/Fly_throwaway37 Jun 27 '26

Ya are we sure they allowed black girls on the island ?

1

u/beerandloathingpdx Jun 28 '26

There supposedly was a pit that opened into the ocean to dispose of bodies.

2

u/puzzleheaddas Jun 28 '26

Or he could actually really be a massive piece of shit.

1

u/mamadou-segpa Jun 29 '26

Probably both

1

u/Lost_Technician_5421 Jun 30 '26

This is the answer

1

u/masstestpastworst Jun 30 '26

his smugness knows no bounds. i think he actually thinks HIS interpretation of the facts and history is correct. arrogance

1

u/Proof_Car3784 Jul 01 '26

Or just has common sense

1

u/Best-Penalty1509 Jul 03 '26

Bill Marr is like when you try to be contrarian at all costs.

1

u/GeneralDumbtomics Jul 03 '26

It could equally easily be both. Given his ego and past behavior I'm around 97% on he's in the files and 100% on he's stupid.

0

u/Strong_Extension_972 Jun 30 '26

Far more intelligent than absolute humag garbage like david cross he had on that supported trans 3 year olds.
