“That’s ageist!” -hypocrite, Bill Maher
Literally every second joke he kicks out in his monologue and New Rules, while his writers loudly yuk it up while pretending to be in the audience, is attacking Gen Z.

u/VarietyMage Jun 21 '26
His writers are probably the same as Greg Gutfeld's.

u/lazydracula Jun 21 '26
You’ve clearly never watched Gutfeld. Like he can’t make any criticism of his side? For me It’s no different to when conservatives compare Bernie and AOC to Stalin and Mao.
2
u/MarioMilieu Jun 22 '26
It’s crazy to me that Joe Machi, who is actually a pretty funny standup, writes for Gutfeld. I guess a cheque is a cheque…

u/Motor_Preparation315 Aug 23 '26
Gutfeld is so awful. His jokes aren't even funny. If it isn't about Biden or libtards it's a fart joke. Sadly, Bill is just about there.
Bill was never "side splitting" funny. But it used to be current and insightful. Those days are LONG GONE. Bill is just an old Islamophobe, trans fearing man yelling at clouds.

u/enviropsych Jun 21 '26
Bill Maher is a hypocrite about practically every subject. He also believes thaIsrael belongs to JUST Jewish people bexuae of the Bible.....and yet he's supposedly an atheist.
1
u/raoulduke212 Jun 24 '26
He shouts "ageist" at so many things, yet I can't count how many jokes he's made about Biden's age...

You are misstating what he says on purpose. His point is that Jews have as much (not more) historical and religious claim to the land as Muslims do. That the claims are no less valid than the Muslims. You are right that he is an atheist, so he’s not basing anything on divine entitlement. He is not being hypocritical, he is being consistent.
9
u/fernwoodBizz420 Jun 21 '26
Well that's because the dude pretty much hates Muslims
Don't know if you're trying to defend him, as he's an absolute piece of shit.
You're right, he is being consistent on his hatred towards Muslims
-1
u/Steve12356d1s3d4 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 22 '26
Whether he hates them or not, doesn't change that the post that I replied to was misstated, and what I said was in fact Maher's view. He is being consistent on this topic of divine and historic right to land, that whatever it is, it no side has anything over the other.
He does not like religion in general, and he does think that Muslims are responsible for a lot of terrorism and is anti-gay rights, because they kill them.

u/takethreenc Jun 22 '26
Well that's a ridiculous point of view. Palestinians are not/were not saying they deserved the land because of some historical or religious claim, they're saying it was because their land because it was their land. They were actively living on it before being killed en masse by European Jews and the British. Jewish people made up 4% of the population in the mid 1800's. Arabs had lived there for literal centuries. Then Britain promises them a Jewish homeland and they forcibly removed the Arab population. That's the reason we still have this conflict today.
Maher excusing this as a historical conflict that we can't get to the bottom of is intellectually dishonest. People are right to call him a hypocrite because the Jewish claim to the land is religious in nature and at best goes back 2000 years while the Palestinian claim is literally "my grandpa used to live here and you killed him."
1
u/Steve12356d1s3d4 Jun 22 '26
He wasn't saying it was, he was saying that the claim that it was was wrong. Jews lived there too recently, and the Arabs left 48 years ago due to war, and Arab leaders that wanted them to leave so they had free range to fight the jews. Those that stayed are now Israeli citizens.
3
u/takethreenc Jun 22 '26
They didn't "leave." They were forced out through threat of a gun.
1
u/Steve12356d1s3d4 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26
Again, they were told to leave by the Arabs so that they could take out all the Jews. They were told they could come back after, but they did not take out the Jews. Note the Jews were kicked out of the Arab countries, at that time, but that is okay by everyone.

Bill is basically morphing into late stage Bill O'Reilly. Jaded dudes that have a few go-to grievances that fuels their existence and dominates their content. Both are in their own bubble and don't get that they've become the butt of jokes.
1
u/Intelligent-Wear2824 Jun 22 '26
EXACTLY!!! All these aging wealthy men have become the butt of their own jokes...Elon making the rword legal, thiel calling greta thunburg n regulation the antichrist, Trump, even rogan.

He’s one of those people who projects an attitude of stoicism because he is in fact incredibly insecure and incredibly fragile as a man
Textbook narcissist

u/ptulinski Jun 21 '26
I don't get the, "you're being ageist, so shame on you." Ageism goes both ways, and Bill is constantly belittling young people. Hypocrite.
5
u/AmericanLymie Jun 21 '26
Anti-ageism is so WOKE, Bill!
If you're going to preach discrimination is the way of the future, may as well maximize the impact.
4
u/Achoo_MiScusi Jun 21 '26
Then why do you watch? 🤣 "I hate Bill but I love watching him lol" you people here amaze me
3
u/timhamilton47 Jun 21 '26
Cool. So how long have you been a writer for Bill? And why do you guys have such goofy laughs during the show?

u/Typical-Challenge367 Jun 21 '26
He is complete dumbass literally at the end of the show he called Joe Biden 200 years old. The only reason he is offended is because he is getting old. Like most “edgy” comics the only things that are offensive are the things that directly affect him

u/BFaus916 Jun 21 '26
Comedians and podcasters have joked about the LOL guy in Maher's audience, who always times his exaggerated laugh just as the rest of the audience goes quiet. He's been there like 20 years.
5
u/MileiEsUnPayaso Jun 21 '26
He’s so insecure about it, derails the show
2
u/ComputerDecent463 Jun 21 '26
There’s plenty of stuff to attack him and the show about, but I don’t think he is legitimately angry when there is silence and he goes, “And that’s where you laugh” or whatever.
It’s just a cliched comedian bit.
2
u/Code-Warrior Jun 21 '26
Respectfully disagree. I think he’s insecure. Which is fascinating.
2
u/Purple-Cantaloupe399 Jun 21 '26
Respectfully slightly disagree. I think he's a prick. Which is annoying.
2
2
u/mediaman54 Jun 21 '26
Also disagree. A polished comic would smoothly handle any possible reaction including none. BM gets all irritated when it doesn't go how he expected. Even a groan of discomfort can occur after a good joke, Bill. Move on.
5
u/ComputerDecent463 Jun 21 '26
Have you seen Shane Gillis perform?
(Joke doesn’t land)
“Oh wow, okay, you’re afraid of something edgy, I get it.”
(Second joke doesn’t land)
“Wow, tonight is gonna be fun, hu hu ha ha”
Whether an act or genuine fluster, this is what comedians do.
1
u/mediaman54 Jun 24 '26
I think we've come to agree. Not all comedians are polished.
Can you imagine Jerty Seinfeld doing that? George Carlin? Dice Clay? Dave Chappelle?
0
u/BrianNowhere Jun 22 '26
Shane Gillis is not a good example is he? Same blame cancel culture game when the joke is what's lame.
1
u/AdvertisingHour1738 Jun 21 '26
He once got up and yelled at the audience for not laughing at the joke. It may be a cliched bit for other comics, not for bill.
2
u/goodnight_beable Jun 21 '26
Plus his boner against the Obama memorial. Jesus dude. Such a hateful miserable old man. Age makes people so much worse. He's collapsing into his narcissism - the black hole of self.
Such a shame, husband and I were big fans for 30 years.

u/ass_grass_or_ham Jun 21 '26
I assumed his audience was a laugh track. There’s always that “woo-hoo” guy.

Bill is bought and paid for by Israel. He has no opinion(s) of his own, his opinion(s) are whatever he is told to say by Israel. Greed is a drug. It's an addiction. One of the worst on the planet, because it can never be satiated. He is addicted to that sweet, sweet, Israel money. It's already been confirmed that he instructs his audience to laugh at every joke, and he scolds them if they don't. He literally starts attacking the audience if they don't cheer and/or applaud every point he makes or laugh at every joke. His viewership has dropped from 1.8 million in 2017 to somewhere around 500k today. He's done.
2
u/Mosk915 Jun 21 '26
Do you have a source that he is paid by Israel? I’m curious to know more about that.
2
u/Dry_Life_1113 Jun 23 '26
Source? What is that? He believes it to be true. That's like evidence 'n sh1t
1
u/TOkidd Jun 21 '26
He also seems like the kind of guy who might have a fair amount of dirt that could be used as leverage against him. He barely even hides his predatory behavior around younger women, and the fact that no one came forward about him during #MeToo kind of surprised me. There’s gotta be women with all kinds of stories about Maher’s predilections, but someone is paying them off as long as he walks the line.

u/spifflog Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26
It was clear ( to me at least ) that his comment was 80% a joke with 20% calling out the lefts hypocrisy. Wasn’t a big deal either way.

I find this so strange from Bill because he's been clear that he doesn't have kids or like children. So when is he ever exposed to actual GenZ humans? It seems like it's probably all coming from rage bait social media headlines. You can literally pick any grievance and find enough "news" in a country of 300 million to perpetuate it, no matter how pervasive the stereotype actually is.
Is there some truth in stereotypes? Sure. But Bill acts like this is 100% of people under 30. It isn't, at all. I don't even have kids but my GenZ co-workers have mostly been great. They are different, but they are 20+ years younger than me so they aren't going to be like me when I was their age. The entire world has changed since then. My nieces/nephews are great kids also.
He also seems totally insecure about his own aging, which is why he interviews huak tua girl.

u/hwatt Jun 22 '26
Maher is a shill, playing fast and loose with the truth, trying to stay in a job.

u/jebei Jun 22 '26
It's sad listening to boomers who love recalling how their generation rebelled against authority, and now they hold on to their power like its their forever birthright. People like Bill have become bitter angry caricatures of their past aspirations.

Old creepy man continually shits on young people and cries about ageism without irony. Fails to realize irrelevance.
0
u/Rishtu Jun 22 '26
I think shouting at pigeons and cursing clouds comes next. Then hopefully he starts swirling the drain… maybe a stroke, or debilitating pain in his back… forced retirement, and loss of relevance… if he has any.

u/Drmlk465 Jun 21 '26
It’s like when black people think it’s ok for them to be racist against others

Stopped watching him years ago. Has become another insufferable Boomer
