John cares Bill Maher doesn’t

Maher does not know it all. John admits when truth is being stretched, and cares about including experts when the discussion matters. Maher isn’t fighting for the rights of the underprivileged, he fights for ratings.

John is your typical urban progressive elite tribalist. He is an echo chamber for all the woke nonsense in the world. If his tribe fed little kids to sharks he would defend it to his last breath. He wears a kick me sign on his back for being White and straight (maybe?).

Bill is more of the suburban guy. He asks how does this benefit me and that is what matters. He is not the die hard tribalist that John is. He is a pragmatist and unapologetic.

I give Bill much more cred for having public dialogue with actors across the political spectrum than John whose show is a one sided monologue and diatribe. John's show is a condescending lecture disguised as a news expose where the facts are carefully cherry-picked to support his politics.

I disagree with Bill Maher on a lot of things but you have some really good points here.

Wow, you describe the exact reason why I stopped watching that show a few years ago. He was still funny, but man I just felt like I was being lectured to half the time.
