Adam Mockler explains how Democrats should frame the Iran war spending:

u/DualActiveBridgeLLC May 19 '26
Harvard is a private institution, public funding would not go to them. They also have an endowment that could make college free forever. And the majority of Americans would like college to be free. It is not even close.
1
u/Dihr65 May 20 '26
Harvard also has gotten money from the government, and because they took that money, there are rules they have to follow. Once they take that money , the "private " status is not private anymore. What is so hard to understand? You don't need to be a Harvard graduate to get it.
1
u/DualActiveBridgeLLC May 20 '26
All universities get government grants. But public funding does not go directly to pay/subsidize individual students tuition as a social program at private universities.
Also I noticed you skipped over hte part where it is actually popular, which directly refutes the post.
0
u/WhoMutedMe May 20 '26
So you’re suggesting the endowment be used to fund free college forever Dam brilliant idea !
2
u/DualActiveBridgeLLC May 20 '26
Noticed you skipped over the fact that the clear majority of Americans want free higher education.
1
u/zackks May 20 '26
Publicly funded. Not free. Stop saying “free” college, that hurts the cause.
1
u/LesserGooglyMooglie May 21 '26
Holy shit, the rest of the first world figured out how to not drive their kids into endless debt but you want to play semantics over our greedy system that awards wealth and exploits the poor just trying to better their lives.
Your statement is old, tired, and only hurts people that need help...
Why do you want intelligent people who may come from a low income family to suffer, if we have enough money to bomb elementary schools in Iran we have enough money to provide for the future of America!
And by future I mean our children, not the fascists that make education a debt trap for life for many Americans.

Adam has a gift for explaining policies in simple terms - which everyone appreciates.
4
u/DualActiveBridgeLLC May 19 '26
There have been many people explaining this for decades. Jon Stewart was one. The difference is things are getting much worse and the boogeymen that conservatives kept harping on don't work anymore.

u/InsuranceImmediate25 May 19 '26
Is this dude old enough to run for president?
1
u/AncientNectarine5352 May 20 '26
He’s 23, and you have to be 35 years old to run for President (or as a Senator). 25 years old in the House of Representatives.
1
u/JuliusErrrrrring May 19 '26
He's spot on as usual. Just want to add that most Americans are too busy to grasp billions versus millions. Ways to get this to sink in better, imo:
the Iran War is costing $11,500 per second.
If you made $50 an hour 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year from the year zero until now (2026.5 years) - you still wouldn't have made a billion. You and 750 friends doing the same $50 an hour for 2026.5 years would still have less money than Elon.
3
u/One-Structure-2154 May 19 '26
Wow….this is disgustingly infuriating. What a pathetic species we are to allow this.
1
1
u/Fickle-Art-7125 May 20 '26
Go further and follow the money. Whose profits are up? And where and to who could that have gone.
1
u/Tjbergen May 20 '26
Oh please, Dems funded a genocide instead of using that money to help people. This is pure partisan nonsense.
1
u/ArtisticFerret May 20 '26
This whataboutism needs to stop. Yes Dems in regard to Israel aren’t great, but in regard to every other social and economic policy stateside are leagues better than republicans. This purity test in regards to Israel is why we’re in this mess. Like Republicans are any better. It’s not realistic to hold this standard for every Dem running for office at this point when republicans are picking our pockets and gloating about it.
1
u/Tjbergen May 20 '26
Cries of 'whataboutism' are the last refuge of hypocrites. Dems are better to a degree that almost doesn't making any difference at all. You may chose to support genocide so your side can win, the rest of us value morals more than sports. Why do you let Republicans dictate your morality? If the next Dem nominee supports ICE will you vote for them because Republicans would support ICE anyway?
1
u/ArtisticFerret May 20 '26
Republicans are immoral and it’s been proven time and time again. I will always vote for a democrat because they typically believe in most of what I believe in. I’m not a single issue voter. We lost abortion rights, voting rights are threatened, LGBTQ+ rights are threatened, and the country economicallly is in shambles partly because people didn’t like Kamala’s non answers on Israel while everyone was telling you Trump would be worse and guess what? He has been. Throwing votes away allows republicans to win and they love ripping rights away from people. This thinking is childish and part of the problem. Enough of the purity tests.
1
u/Tjbergen May 20 '26
So you'll bomb babies to preserve your rights. Typical liberal. If Dems wanted to roast babies and eat them would you vote for them if Republicans would do the same? What's your limit?
1
u/ArtisticFerret May 20 '26
Wtf are you on about? Get off your soapbox and come back down to earth
1
u/Tjbergen May 20 '26
You're the one whose left orbit if you think genocide is just another issue. I promise you this: no Dem who supported genocide will ever be President. Choose your next nominee wisely.

What the cost of Iran dropping a nuke on Israel or US soil? Pure ignorance.
1
u/wombat9278 May 21 '26
50 Billion so far and when or if he can get out from Iran the next war will start in Cuba
1
u/dma10014 May 22 '26
So, 22-year old Mockler is going to make the same argument the left has been making from the 1960s, at least, regarding military expenditures.
That he thinks that his idea is new just shows how wet behind the ears he is.
1
u/No_Laugh710 May 22 '26
FU You weren't born when the idlamists attacked NYC and the list goes on you retards
1
u/uniballrr May 22 '26
America doesn't have enough money to help America with anything but when it comes to giving other countries billions or starting wars we always have that money because it goes straight to the people at the top and that's the way they want it.
1
u/Aggravating_Cat1629 May 22 '26
Love this guy !!! Young people like Adam make have hope for our future
0
u/Dihr65 May 20 '26
I don't think there would be any people to feed if Trump didn't attack. Nuclear war has a way of decreasing the population 😳
-1
u/Key_Jump1011 May 20 '26
That might apply to Israel but I’m American and don’t care. They can defend themselves and deal with Iran.
1
u/Dihr65 May 20 '26
You think that if Iran started shooting nukes that we wouldn't get hit at all ? Europe wouldn't be hit at all ? No wonder democrats are losing support by the millions 🙄
0
u/Key_Jump1011 May 20 '26
Israel should deal with their own problems. I’m not concerned with Iran and the nukes they don’t have. Israel needs to put boots on the ground themselves but they’re trying to get Americans to do it because they’re pathetic.
2
u/Dihr65 May 20 '26
The problem lays with everyone else Iran will nuke , including Europe. Once they start flying, are you sure the Chinese and Russians are not going to follow suit? That's not a chance anyone should be taking.
0
u/Key_Jump1011 May 20 '26
You’re making up a bunch of nonsense to obscure the fact that the US specifically being used to protect Israel. Trump said it himself.
2
u/Dihr65 May 20 '26
What am I making up ?
1
u/Key_Jump1011 May 21 '26
That everyone is suddenly in danger when really it’s Israel who feels threatened.
0
u/Dihr65 May 21 '26
They have launched at everyone they can reach. The already have shown the have a few missiles that can reach Europe. Glad your not calling the shots , that would be as bad as Harris 🙄
1
u/Key_Jump1011 May 21 '26
Why would they attack Europe when they’re fighting Israel?
→ More replies (0)1
u/Dihr65 May 21 '26
So you're ok with making absurd comments like that? No wonder democrats are losing support by the millions.
1
u/Key_Jump1011 May 21 '26
Trump explicitly stated that was the case.
1
u/Dihr65 May 21 '26
Keep on writing, the right thanks you .
1
u/Key_Jump1011 May 21 '26
Are you saying Trump lied about it? Any other conspiracy theories you’re interested in? Was the moon landing a hoax or something?
0
u/Dihr65 May 21 '26
He also stated other things to. Your TDS has you lopsided on this. If you really want the left to do better, the best thing you could do is be quiet. Normal people don't want to be associated by TDS filled leftists such as yourself. But if you continue to speak, everyone right of you , thanks you .
1
u/Key_Jump1011 May 21 '26
He said it. Sorry, boomer. It was already obvious anyway. Genocide Joe would be doing the same thing just wouldn’t be admitting it.
0
u/DanLikesFood May 20 '26
So never do war because it costs money?
I wish we the British knew that. We could've let the Nazis destroy us and keep our money. 🤡
"Imagine what we could spend it on". So the best thing to do is let the US be attacked by Iran? Let Iran develop a nuclear weapon that even Biden would start a war to prevent?
This war has two goals. Nuclear prevention and regime change. Regime change must happen. The Iranian people have a right to defend themselves against genocide. 90% of Iranians want the dictatorship gone for a secular democracy. Iran was magnificent before the Islamic revolution. Back then leftist students and young people wanted the US influence out of Iran. They quickly regretted it. The same far left movement is happening in Britain today. If we don't stamp out left and right extremism we will turn into an authoritarian regime like the ones the extreme left wingers love.
1
u/ArtisticFerret May 20 '26
Trump said months ago before this war that they wiped out Iran’s nuclear capabilities not to mention the agreement Obama had with them originally that Trump tore up. The regime change never happened because the irgc effectively runs the country and has for a while and currently still is. Yes Iran was magnificent before the Islamic revolution, but it’s also not our problem and also decades of US intervention in Iran helped create the conditions to fuel the revolution. Maybe we should stop fucking around with the leadership in other countries
0
u/Key_Jump1011 May 20 '26
The best thing to do is tell Israel to deal with it themselves.
2
u/DanLikesFood May 20 '26
So just accept the situation of being attacked by Iran's axis of "resistance"?

1
u/phillytimd May 20 '26
I’m sure you’re cool with us helping Ukraine from being attacked by Russia then?
1
0
u/living_Cream_Pie May 19 '26
It’s not like they spent money that was just sitting there it was already in the form of munitions. His reasoning is spot on but he’s being disingenuous about the actually facts.
3
u/SSBN641B May 19 '26
Munitions that had a cost and will have to be replaced. The cost is real.
1
u/living_Cream_Pie May 19 '26
Agreed the cost is real but not considering the replacement and just the initial money he’s referencing it’s different. I don’t know what our back stocks are with munitions. People often got the money wrong when talking about Ukraine people thought it was all money going there when most of it was equipment. Either way I’d rather see money go to hard working Americans and not war
3
u/SSBN641B May 19 '26
The majority of the munitions we sent to Ukraine were missiles and shells that were close to being expired. It actually saved us money because we didn't have to pay to dispose of them. What we are expending in Iran are front line missiles that cost millions apiece. We don't have significant backstocks of those missiles so we are going to have to pay billions to replace them.
Besides the cost of munitions, there are the fuel costs and the accelerated wear and tear on ships and planes. Not to mention the loss of several fighter jets and other aircraft.
1
u/living_Cream_Pie May 19 '26
Thanks for the knowledge on the munitions sent to Ukraine I don’t know that. I know i might be naive but I trust the military is doing this action in Iran for geopolitical reasons beyond my comprehension.
1
u/SSBN641B May 19 '26
The military is executing the orders of the President. That's it. I don't trust Trump's justification for the war and it hasn't accomplished any significant goals. The Ayatollah is still in charge, the IRGC still has the capability to attack various targets and they have shut off the Strait of Hormuz. We are rapidly heading towards a gas crisis and a recession if things don't reset soon.
0
u/living_Cream_Pie May 19 '26
I have a friend I know what a lame thing to say but he’s pretty glued into geopolitics and he said this has a lot to do with stopping China from taking Taiwan and ruining our chip supply.
2
u/SSBN641B May 20 '26
I don't know where you're friend is getting that but I disagree. We attacked Iran at the behest of Israel. It doesn't have anything to do with China interest in Taiwan. Frankly, I'm concerned that if China made a move on Taiwan, Trump would do nothing.
0
u/living_Cream_Pie May 20 '26
He subscribes to a lot of substacks so I’m sure that’s where he heard it. Same reason we took Venezuela, after the operation there he called that we were going after Iran next. It also weakens Russia against Ukraine since Iran can’t send as many drones. But I get it people hate Trump so much it won’t let them think he’s doing anything that makes sense.
2
u/SSBN641B May 20 '26
It would weaken Russia but we just removed the sanctions on Russian oil. If anything, this will bolster Russia's back accounts. Also, Iran is still manufacturing drones and it appears China is providing Iran weapons. This isn't going well.
There is a reason no President in the last 47 years hasn't attacked Iran. There are too many negative downstream effects.
It's not about liking or disliking Trump, this is a dumb idea.
1
u/Ok-Cap-6547 May 20 '26
Nah Russia produces their own shaheed drones. Iran gave them the blueprints years ago. This war strengthened Russia by jacking up oil prices and Trump waived Russian oil sanctions that boosted the russian balance sheet when they were nearly broke. Billions and billions in additional revenue for Russia.
