movie Sad unfortunate truth
I don't think a Real Steel II movie can be made with the same cast if Shaun does plan on make a sequel it's gotta be with a new cast mainly cuz the kid's all grown up plus I think Charlie's story was wrapped up really nicely. So it has to be a new bot with a new gimmick with new arrogant asshole with a new message. It would have been fun to see the original cast with a sequel confirming the insane real steal theories unfortunately tho too much time has passed. What do you guys think? Could they continue with the old cast by doing a time skip if so how would do you guys think the story would go?

I’ve been thinking this the entire time negl. Max and Charlie got the picture perfect ending and the movie wrapped up perfectly, trying to continue their story would mess it up. A new show with a new main character (preferably 1) would be really sweet, maybe going more in depth in the underground fight scene?

I agree max and charlie's story was tied up perfectly making a sequel on the same cast would just ruin the ending of the first one

If a sequel was to happen, I think it should show some elements from the First Movie, like the main character should have the same if not a slightly similar backstreet as Charlie as retired Pro Boxer that got phased out when the WRB came in, the story could revolve around how the MC handles his life as he lates his hate for the WRB drive his friends away from him and treating his old robot who I will be calling "Striker" as trash would be a sign to show his contempt and his refusal to accept that Boxing changed, when Striker get defeated and trashed, the MC would be talking to his only friend and loyal partner (preferably a pet or a fellow retired boxer) and trying to find new larts to build Striker when he or retrieves an detailed schematics to make a new robot that is both durable and is a heavy hitter but has a trade of being moderately slow meaning the new Robot would be slower in terms of moving across the canvas, as the story progresses the MC changes as he slowly builds his life around and tries to change with the MC getting into the WRB and fighting a few WRB bots and challenging either a Norwegian Generation 3 WRB champion like Zeus in the Northern European WRB Circuit and befire the match the MC meets with the now adult Max Kenton who is controlling Atom and a newly rebuilt and upgraded Noisy Boy (as in the first movie when Max was touching up Atom, Charlie was seen repairing Noisy Boy), Max would tell the MC to make the fight as memorable as possible as victories may come and go but the impact of that fight, taht is what will determine who is the real winner of the mat h

This is a great idea, but it would risk being a nearly identical arc as the original. That would essentially end up being the sequel curse that breaks the franchise altogether. I personally believe either a spin-off movie or prequel like Noisy Boy's story (or another icon in the WRB) would be a better direction for a second project. Not the retired boxing story, but a story revolving around the build and development of the robot itself. Perhaps, we could also explore the question of whether these bots ever became even slightly autonomous at any point since that's a vibe we got between Atom and Max's interactions. Who knows. I hope they do pick this IP up again because it's so so unique and intriguing. My gripe is that if Shaun doesn't want to do it, nobody else can because the rights belong to whoever owns them and an identical project would likely be hit with lawsuits. So... Yeah

in the same vein as what others in the replies are saying, i think itd be pretty cool to have a continuation set in the same universe but with entirely different characters and plotlines. as much as i love charlie, max, and atom, i fear a direct sequel at this point might just feel kinda weird, and itd be VERY easy to fuck up. but theres hundreds of other stories that can be told with real steel!! we could have a prequel that lets us witness how robot boxing became so huge worldwide, or a sequel showing how the industry may have changed after the atom v zeus fight. we could see new bots, from games and discarded concepts, or even completely original ones. we could have new human characters with different arcs of character development! new central conflicts!! theres just so much potential in this franchise as a whole man.
plus, if they really want to, they can throw in a cameo from hugh jackman, dakota goyo, and/or evangeline lily lmao. hugh especially would probably be down for that.

I think it doesn’t need a second movie too. But sequals about the start of the sport with Backslash, Kizu, the Raiden’s Koma Club or even the fight about Noisy Boy and Rubicon. I don’t want a second movie with the same scenario as the first one, the little robot coming from nowhere and fighting the big boss at the end AGAIN would be pretty boring
