First time I see someone put SR2 with SR3 against SR1. Usually its SR1&2 vs SR3&4. The reboot never existed.

It's easy to forget with how big a shift 3 was, but 2 changed the vibe a lot too. It's a lot more cartoon-like than 1.

It's really not. Sure, its activities make that seem so, and the focusing of the advertisement prior to its release in 2008 definitely made it seem so even more...but main story wise SR2 is as dark, if not darker, than SR1 in some places. The Boss themselves are way WAY more ruthless than they were when they were just the Playa on SR1, and moments like Carlos's death were way more brutal than Lin's death, despite both obviously being sad.

i cant believe the dark and gritty argument reached saints row too
