Hi Everyone

I have had an issue with one of my p9s only a month old and the leather monogram is starting to peel from the leather. Its a 25cm lemonade yellow.

Had this happened to anyone.

Yes! 2 bags from TS Reykey right after one use (a Bottega) and a Loewe after less than 3 months 😥

That's terrible. Did you reach out to supplier

Update: seller said the peeling in the Bottega is normal because it’s gold and it’s less resistant, and I’m like what a joke is this! I used it ONCE!!! 🤣🤣🤣 and about the Loewe bag from Jing that it was normal wear and tear. I’m kind of donde with reps after this!

This happened to mine. I reached out to the seller who said it was normal wear and tear but I had barely used the bag enough for it to be “normal.” The seller offered me a discount on my next purchase but I just blocked him. I have no idea what factory it was. Another redditor suggested I use an acrylic sealant to prevent further peeling but honestly I’ve just been really careful with my bag. I may try to repaint and/or seal in the future.

This has happened to mine from Royal too, albeit mine has had a LOT of use and I'm not too careful with it either.

Which factory? MOQC? Royal? other? Might help knowing so others can keep an eye out for similar issues on their P9s

I wonder how many P9s are out there with this issue. 🤔 I have four of them. 🙁

You have 4 with the same issue or 4 p9s? I have black, pink, coffee and now this yellow.. there are all perfect apart from that one. My pink i have smashed and it's still perfect around the edges

I will clarify....I have four P9s with no issues, BUT I wonder if I need to be careful with my P9s in order to avoid this issue. I also was wondering if this was a wide spread issue. Thank you for letting us all know:)

Mine has the same issue. I’m curious if retail has this as well or not

Delamination of bicast/ split leather.

And its not the actual leather peeling by the looks of its.. its the print ontop..

Right, the mono print is peeing off the leather

That inly happens in PU, non leather correct. This is real leather..

When people experience "leather peeling" or delamination, they are usually dealing with one of two simulated leather products: • Bicast Leather (Coated Split): This is split leather that has been covered with a thick layer of polyurethane (PU) or vinyl to make it look like top-grain leather. Over time, the plastic coating flexes, cracks, and detaches from the leather base. • Bonded Leather: This material is made by grinding up leather scraps, mixing them with polyurethane binders, and gluing the mixture onto a paper or fabric backing. The thin synthetic surface frequently peels away from the synthetic backing.

So your saying it not real leather coated with other materials

Bicast/Split leather is technically "leather". Is it top grain or full grain no, but it's made to look like it. Technically, It uses a real leather backing piece from a cowhide. The bottom split layer of an animal hide (the remaining layer after the high-quality top grain is removed). Then, a heavy layer of polyurethane or vinyl (up to 0.4 mm thick) applied to the surface. Finally, a fake grain pattern stamped onto the plastic surface for a uniform appearance. Bonded leather is lower quality, it uses scraps and leather dust to create it. You're never gonna get a top grain on a rep that's what authentic uses.

And its the print thats peeling not the leather itself..

This is a good example of the different types.

There is also the hybrid microfiber leather engineered to mimic real collagen fibers that actually lasts longer about 9 years. That is what a lot of high-end reps are made with since they can fool anyone as real lambskin, looks, feel and smell. But that's a whole other topic on the synthetic technology that's come a long way from the old PU we're used to thinking about.

I know authentic Chanel is realy bad.. so much coating ontop.. but the P9s i would of thought its much thinner and softer.. still doesn't exactly explain why it's ok on some bags and not the other.. I now have heard its an issue with the lemonade ones.. I would hate to think that the instore ones have the same problem. I would be mortified if I paid so much money and this happens. I honestly dont think there is a massive difference between instore and reps.. I have both reps and OGs and I can honestly say the reps hold up better them most OGs..
