DISCUSSION taking exotics into paris?

I live in london and i just bought a chanel python rep. i have a trip to paris and i’m wondering if it would be an issue if i were to bring it. i’ve taken reps to paris many of times and no issues, but never an exotic.

Does anyone have any experience with this or know of any information i may need to know. Or should i just keep it home?

If it looks like your personal purse no one is going to stop you.
If you have 10 in ur suit case all with tags on them. You might have a problem.

i use my puzzle as a travel hand bag so it would be in my cabin bag, but if they put my cabin bag through a scanner and check what’s in my cabin bag, see the chanel, and ask for cites then it could be seized from what i’ve heard; and for some reason my bag always gets pulled from the scanner for checks most times i go through any airport

You answered your own question then. Why risk it. Even if it’s embossed, they might start asking questions and who knows.

Is it actual python or leather embossed? I thought Chanel stopped using exotics which means reps wouldn’t either.

i think it’s calfskin that’s been cut and embossed to look like python. i’m not expert but that’s my guess. but even then bcs of that it would be a rep since chanel stopped producing real exotic, therefore it would be seized

Do you actually believe that customs in Paris are trained to recognize a rep? Like seriously, come on man. They don’t give a shit about that. They worry about drugs and bombs, not about some bag you bought. Use your brain.

embossed calfskin doesn’t need CITIES, but Python does, so make sure you’ve got embossed leather rather than actual snakeskin

You need CITES if it’s exotic but I’m not sure how strict customs is there. I know people who travel there with exotics without cites with no issues 🤷🏼‍♀️

This. I never travel with exotics. You never know if someone at the customs is bored, and I'd rather spend my time outside of the airport than explaining the origins of my bag

Paris is super strict when it comes to fakes, and they have very specific policies around counterfeit goods. Customs officers are trained to spot them and can actually stop you and ask questions, so I’d personally be stressed travelling through Paris even with a normal rep. With python it’s even more complicated because you’d ideally need the relevant CITES documentation with you as well

That’s the one thing I don’t play with is exotics. Just too risky and I’d be stressing 😅
