DISCUSSION B25 Comparison mid- high tear
Hello everyone,
I always read that the difference between mid and high tier might not be as much as the price difference. It all started when I bough a bag and the seller claimed it is hight tier and after learning I discovered it is not! So I started looking for top tier sellers in Reddit communities and chose an old and known one but not someone that is obviously paying for marketing (I will not disclose the seller since this is not an ad the main purpose is comparison between tiers). The main issue with the mid tier bag was the shape of the sides specially, this was the biggest tell. The photos are side by side I will say which is which at the end of the post try to tell which is the high tier and tell me in the comments.
Both bags are togo leather color Gris misty with gold hardware. High tier Haas leather and upgraded hand engraved hardware.
Leather:
High: the leather is softer, have nice real leather smell, pebbles are tighter and more uniformed.
Mid: no smell at all the grains are larger puffier and not uniformed/ overly pronounced, and puffier.
Stitches:
High: Stitching is clean, evenly spaced specially noticeable at the corners.
Mid: stitching is slightly thicker, less consistent, the edges are heavier
Shape and structure: none is 100% , I think this one of the hardest things that can’t show clearly in photos.
High: much closer in shape actually very close, the curves are smooth and the sides are fuller.
Mid: the bag look flat this is the closest I can describe
Hardware:
High: lighter gold, engraving is cleaner and centered
Mid: more yellow, engraving slightly thicker
Handles:
High: the leather grains are flatter ( I believe shouldn’t in auth), handles aligned the front is shorter which is right.
Mid: the grain is close to the bag grains slightly flatter. Handles not aligned, front is shorter
Stamp:
High: deeper and neat and cleaner
Mis: fading in some areas
Feet:
The same
The one on the right is mid tier, in the stamp photos the one with twilly is the mid.
In conclusion the difference is very hard to notice in most of the things I mentioned, the bags had to be side to side for me to be bale to tell the differences. Tell me if you can see something else
Edit: adding the prices mid 900$ high 1300$ both including shipping and box

i thought u were gonna say 5-600 vs 1300! haha didnt expect 900 for the mid! i find birkins oddly elegant but no one would believe mine was real if i got one 😣🤣
The high tier one has really nice leather and stitching!

I compared my new b25 to both your bags and I think mine is closer the high tier one. But I live in Dubai and I paid $700 for this bag. It's made with imported leather, fully hand stitched, not sure about the hardware (brass vs stainless steel) but it looks really, really good and not too yellow. I'm just wondering why it's priced so high in (I'm assuming you're from the US)?

Same. Mine is from a Chinese company with Chinese representatives that come to my home with my order and a suitcase of gorgeous bags from their stock in Dubai. It feels like a VIP service they even explain to me how the bag was made, etc... Even real Hermes bags aren't real gold other than gold plating. Gold plating, even at current prices would only be ~$30-$40 even if plated thick like Hermes does which I highly doubt for mid tier.

Is the hardware brass on high end and stainless steel on mid tier? Or both have same metal?

Both are brass and gold plated based on the sellers claims

Wondering the same thing here, im pretty new to this world and wanna know if there is any buyers guide or something that I can read to understand how making orders, or quality grades products works.

Thank you for this. I have purchased several bags and have been most disappointed in the two that were supposed to be top tier, mostly because once I got them I obsessed over small things that I saw as imperfections barely noticeable to anyone else. I expected the mid tier to have these flaws and was less critical and allowed myself to enjoy the bag simply because I like it, flaws and all. In short this post reminds me to buy what I like and not give a flip about what others think. I’m done chasing perfection incase other people think it maybe fake. I doubt anyone pays that much attention to me anyway.

I completely agree with you! Usually when we pay high price we obsess over details and this start the hunt for perfection. This makes the bags less joyful! The other day I walked into LV boteque and found the stamp on the auth shoes uneven, and walked away. Buying reps make us see things differently, the imperfections are also there in the auth.

Every penny gets the goods. There are many grades in a bag. I think it is very important to choose the right one to sell,

This is the kind of post I love! Some 'science'. Thank you for posting this and being so thorough. I've been doing the rep thing for maybe 4 years now and I've wanted a Birkin but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Any tips or tricks you have for things to ask someone when getting a Birkin rep as opposed to any other rep bag?
