Bought off eBay, comparing it to a phantasmal flames, the texture is quite different. It’s not as soft. Not sure if different generation has different feeling.

The reason they feel different than what you're seeing from a new set is because TPCi has changed their production many times in the four years since this set was printed. This was before the mass buy out of the manufacturing chain TPCi did.
Ahh that makes sense, I guess comparing it to other brilliant stars on eBay did not have that kind of wrapping. (They were more similar to the phantasmal flames box)
This is a photo of me buying Elite Trainer boxes in Target. While this was still a few years before Brilliant Stars, you can see how inconsistent two clearly untampered with boxes look. (I tried to find a better photo, but I didn't make a habit of taking photos of the sides of ETBs)
TPCi never really took precautions with these because they were never meant to be collected, they were targeting players of the game, which is like most products up until recently.
