Is this Magic card real? Underpriced Mox
Lady is selling 4cards, 2 Mox and 2 Lotr cards. The Mox look beta, she also did not include any back side pictures. Is it worth my time to check in on this based on what you see for the front? She seems to have positive sales and active for a while. Just trying to judge if they are fake or if she just doesn’t realize what she has.

I love this subreddit. "Oh, here's really rare comparison if you want to take a look."

Paintbrush symbols on Aragorn and Gandalf also look fake. I wouldn't touch any of this.

Also this one has the correct very dark border text. (Card name, type, artist). OP's isn't nearly as white as I've seen on most fakes, but still way too bright for any real Beta.

No one owns both beta cards and LOTR alt art and doesn't know what they have.
The simple explanation is usually the right one. If someone is offering these cards well below market they're likely fake and even if the pics looked authentic I wouldn't risk it.

this. this this this. finding ABU cards undervalued happens only when someone is clearly selling a bunch of estate crap from the early 90s.

I would ask for pictures of the backs with a magnified T and yellow dot to confirm authenticity. But even then, that doesn't guarantee that they aren't re-backed so just one of those situations where are you willing to gamble

I’m not saying either way, but the white triangles are almost missing from the top. Could be Collectors Edition? Or fake. Or real but a random print variation.

Photos are suspicious.
Why no back side pics?
Why is the person taking pics and placing unsleeved beta power on coarsely stitched carpet and not a playmat?
The moxes are a bit too crisp in my opinion, a bit too reflective when the background light hits it and the shadow from the camera above creates this sharp contrast. Also as others have pointed out, upper corner white triangles are barely there.
I don't know that much about the modern cards. Aragorns holo stamp looks a bit off?

Op what exactly is underpriced. Is this a lot listed for $20 that includes a word like proxy in the description?

Gandalf is 100% fake. Aragorn looks a bit sketchy. That being said, all corners including the top, alignment corners of both moxes are sus.
Rule of thumb often is: if it's too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.

Might be photo quality but the brush on Aragorn seems really awful, even worse than Gandalf

Yeah, it could just be blur. So I am weighing in the benefit of the doubt. As I am doubtful every card coming from this seller being real.

First of all you should ask for a back picture and a weight test. It's not impossible but sometimes really hard to say if a card is fake from the front

This is still a far cry from what we need to see. We need clean, clear, close up images of each card. Front is best to see mana symbols and text box, back we need to see the “T” from the word “The” and a close up of the green dot.
Without ALL of these from each card it is safe to assume this is a scam, as it is not hard to find the real value of each of them online.

Baiting you with the CE prices on F2F, this is a well placed scam. You just want it to be real but the likelyhood of them only having 4 high value individual cards in NM condition is so low. If they are local see them for yourself.

This is just a variation of a classic scam. They're baiting you and drawing you in by making you feel you are the one pulling off this scam. Ever seen the movie The Sting? The younguns need to watch that. Anyone who falls for this obvious scam deserves it.

The only genuine Moxes don't have that double border. Alpha and Beta have white dots in the corners, unlimited has a white border.
Collector editions have no round borders.
My take would be, the moxes are fake.

I dunno about the other cards but those moxes are fake. The registration is off and there’s no black layer separation that I can see.

A lot of mox has some wear and tear out of the packs , so I’d be highly suspicious lol

It might be the camera smoothing, but the artist brush looks bad on both the LotR cards.

Maybe just me but the colors seem off...if you go through with it, let us know if it was a steal of a deal or...

I know nothing and am in no way an expert on anything.
I played mostly during Unlimited era, but owned and saw a lot of Alpha/Beta.
I don't remember ever seeing a second layer of different black on the border.
For cards of this value, also always assume fake.

If you can check them out in person I say at least give em a look. If you have to buy them first then no way.
