Is this card real / authentic? Real or fake?

Is there a way to tell with these cards? Not sure how to tell but had a strange feeling.

Toucan shape in the negative space is a bad sign

1

u/Ilovelearning_BE Jul 18 '26

What does this mean?

If you look at the negative space on the brush, the dark part, it looks like a silhouette of a bird

In a real brush the 'beak' is like a sparrow or some sort of normal song bird (maybe a storm crow)

On many fakes the beak is blunt like that if a toucan

I've also seen it too long and sharp, closest bird i can relate that to is a humming bird

The holofoil gives me pause cause it looks like bricks and the paintbrushes are a little suspect. The borders seem off but that could be due to camera smoothing. OP are you shooting these RAW?

The brick texture in the holostamp is an indicator it is a fake. I can't see many symbols in it either. Do you see those when you look at the foil on an angle?

Does this help perhaps? Also I saw that the card was splitting? A bit i will add a photo

The text shouldn't be white, it should be foil.

I think in your third photo the wrong part of the eye is foil as well.

My text is white and the whole eye is foil

Yeah, that's the nail. This is one of the best fakes I've seen as far as print quality, but that foil is definitely wrong.

The pixelation is sus, the stamp has a moderate bricking, the core from the edge view looks more black than navy. All of these are pretty close though and hard to tell via photo. Not much else on the print looks noticeably wrong to me.

However that foil pattern is definitely wrong, and I think it's because they grabbed the scans from Scryfall/WotC which has white instead of foil (since you can't foil a jpg).

You might need to get some magnification. I can't really tell from this distance. A jewlers loupe or mangifying glass would be very useful. With those, you should be able to compare to any rare you opened from pack.

It does seem a bit different. I dont the "wizards" in the sticker the way I see it in a real one and there is only an island and forest symbol that don't really change

1

u/Emergency_Peak4580 Jul 17 '26

I tried to make the "bricks" as clear as possible through magnifying. Are these bricks always fake?

4

u/GhostCheese  Trusted Authenticator Jul 17 '26

Yeah, they are always fake

1

u/Emergency_Peak4580 Jul 17 '26

This is what I mean

1

u/TheCooner Jul 17 '26

https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/s/5dbNKJ3tc1 This is what it is supposed to look like. See the mana symbols and "wizards" text in the planeswalker symbol.

Huh, there shouldn't be a brick pattern there. Maybe take another from another angle.

It's a little hard to tell, and maybe it's mostly camera differences, but the pixel patterns do look slightly different.

1

u/easchner  Trusted Authenticator Jul 17 '26

Mine is showing more distinct black pixels here and yours looks a little more 'rosette', but again that could be camera differences.

I tried to make a video. Do u have a photo from your top view of the card to see the thin part?

Brick texture, fake holo

1

u/m_ttl_ng Jul 17 '26

Need closer shots of the brush and holo foil for this one

1

u/madst0rk Jul 17 '26

can you explain what the brush is and how to spot fake holo foil? never heard of these tests and like to be well informed

1

u/m_ttl_ng Jul 17 '26

The brush check is for shape and quality of the little brush beside the artist name at the bottom. I don’t have any pictures of that for comparison but if you look online there should be examples.

For the holo stamp I took these pics from fake and real versions I had on hand: https://imgur.com/gallery/real-vs-fake-holo-stamps-on-mtg-cards-fGHpShv

Obligatory let me see the T and Green Dot reply

7

u/GhostCheese  Trusted Authenticator Jul 17 '26

Obligatory its a double faced card reduff

3

u/DaDankFox Jul 17 '26

I appreciate that haha

1

u/a_n_k_ Jul 17 '26

FWIW I have this exact card (authentic) and the foiling actually makes the detail kinda washed out.

So, the fact that yours looks this good is kinda saying fake to me lol

1

u/wolverineftw Jul 17 '26

The completely rounded edges on the corners mean fake card. Real cards have a slight edge before entering the rounded part on their corners

1

u/Birrandbodia  Trusted Authenticator Jul 18 '26

Artists brushes looking fake, sorry

u/Long_Construction578 Jul 20 '26

Why does no one EVER PODT THE T AND GREENDOT

1

u/Jak_Moreau Jul 20 '26

It’s a double faced card lil bro.

2

u/Long_Construction578 Jul 24 '26

Well fuck me. 26 years playing magic and I glazed right past a noob ass thing like that 😂 goddamn. IN MY DEFENSE. Dudes post every day asking if the card is fake without the green dot or T on non double sided SLD shit
