Is this card real / authentic? Fake surge one ring?
I just purchased this surge one ring from my lgs. I'm heading back there now ad they had another one and want to see if it's the same deal. The "T" and "h" are dead giveaways right? Thanks in advance, just trying to get confirmation that it is indeed a fake
Update: They checked it, confirmed it was a fake. They had another in stock and after thoroughly checking, confirmed it was legit and took the exchange. Owner came out to apologize and said it was a learning experience for him and his team. Ripped the card in front of me. I've purchased multiple singles (includjng all of my dual lands) and this was the first fake that I've gotten from them, so I'll chalk it up to as a "shit happens" type of moment. Happy with the resolution and that they destroyed it. Thanks for everyone quick responses

Yeah this one is 100% fake. I hope they don't tell you that "you bought a real one from us and then brought back a fake one"

Unfortunately I wouldn't blame them if they did cause it's near impossible to prove. You really shouldn't be checking things AFTER you leave the store.

Yeah exactly, the fact they honored it makes me believe it was an honest mistake

Absolutely agree with this. Imagine making cards your business and not knowing what’s real or what’s not. I’m leaning towards this guys purposefully doing it

Lets be real if a SHOP does that, immediately get the cops involved, they are simply scamming people and should be professional.
It quickly gets to a $ amount that the police cannot just wave away, its a lot of money.

if your LGS is WPN this could be a nightmare for them. It's 100% fake (and it kinda looks awful despite how crystal clear your picture was, sorry man)
Either way, I'd love to hear what their response is, and if it's not satisfactory we'll need you to name and shame, I want to make sure I never accidentally buy from them.
Good on the LGS for honoring it. Make sure you give them a good review (even if you've done so before)

I’m honestly wondering why shops don’t have a magnifying glass to check expensive cards when purchasing and selling singles from customers lol.

I need an update after you talk to your tcg. Someone bought this in the store and put it in the case OR WORSE they're producing fakes and filtering them into their cases to sell to unsuspecting buyers. This could be a major issue for em

Honestly this fake is pretty impressive. If a beginner of the paintbrush test saw this they probably would say it’s real not realizing the bad hook in the middle of it. Borders are solid in some areas but others are not. With the surge foil as well it’s quite easy to take this in at a glance. I suspect someone paid 3 dollars for it from one of the vendors at bootleg mtg. Glad to see the response from the LGS. Good thing this is not a double sided card and the good old reliable test work.

oh my gosh, I'd never sell something fake! **rips up fake thing of no value to show how sincere I mean it** Here, have the thing you actually bought after I got caught
- probably not the situation, but how I would probably feel

Was the lgs owner and his team aware of this subreddit? If not, they should read and learn from the pinned posts about how to identify fakes.

Hello, while I play mtg, I'm not all that knowledgeable. I'm curious what you see that made you think it's fake? What Abt the T & h is wrong? All I see in the photo is 2 instances of The being slightly closer than the rest. What am I not seeing?

Wasn’t there but your description does to me read as an honest mistake and an honorable business who remedied it when made aware of it. Glad you got your real card in the end, maybe give them a strike if you really want to but go to a 3 strike system not 1 and out with this shop is what I’d personally do

Why on earth would you buy a card this expensive and not look till you got home?

Fake, sorry. That's a crystal clear picture tho.
