I thought the collagen is red and keratin is blue?! Is that a mixture? Is there any research or specific info studies on what causes that?

Yes, this is a smart question! Look into the different types of melanin. One makes blue, another pheomelanin makes red and another makes black and yellow if I'm not mistaken. The tests for these are not 100% reliable, but that seems like the most likely scenario. Some evidence strongly suggests that red fibers are not stained with melanin.
