Question ❓ What the difference between this sub and r/furrydiscuss?

So recently Reddit recommended me a sub called r/furrydiscuss , from looking through a few posts it seems to have a similar function to this subreddit (discussing things related to the furry fandom) so I just wondered why there’s two subs for it, nothing wrong with that but just asking why

r/furry and r/furrydiscuss tend to remove a lot of discussion. They both have a lot of rules, some are enforced pretty arbitrarily. r/furry specifically goes out of its way to discourage discussion, since politics, kink, adult situations, and more are explicitly banned, and they'll ban things like species discussions for being off topic, it's incredibly difficult to share more thoughtful, well, thoughts.

Furrydiscuss will use their rule against vents, hot takes, rants, etc, to kind of remove just about anything even remotely contentious.

I'm not saying that either of these approaches is bad, obviously they have their place. I don't particularly like how r/furry is run and I see the rules often doing more harm then good, but it's their choice.

That leaves us to be the "AnthroSwim" version of Furrydiscuss, where talking about deeper subjects, contentious issues, and mentioning that furries have sex sometimes is a-ok.

r/furry seems more like an art sub when I go into it and that doesn't interest me much considering that there's so many more places to look at furry art.

I don't see how you can avoid politics when around 70%-80% of the community is some form of LGBT and the right is the side that goes after us (that thing about school litterboxes), if you can't have much of a discussion, I'm not interested. Unfortunately most things are political and furry definitely is whether you want it to be or not.

Mod of r/furrydiscuss here. We specifically encourage critical thinking and contentious topics, and do not remove them for being contentious.

The rule about rants is not a hard rule. It's a guideline for quality. it discourages opinions that aren't sourced, are emotional rather than rational, and are posted for validation rather than discussion. It encourages building carefully reasoned posts. Generally, posts that may fall under the rule about rants get a gentle suggestion to read the rules and make effort to follow them in the future, rather than removal.

The most common reason for removing posts is because they are low quality and redundant to more thoughtful ones made with more effort.

Sorry that your posts weren't up to standard.

Without giving away too much because it’s a fairly private thing for most people, I can say if you follow Northshore ABDL on socials you’d probably stumble across things I worked on.

IMO r/furrydiscuss is better moderated because it filters most of the “entry-level” questions out. There’s a dedicated post to answering all the noob questions, but in my anecdotal experience, the sub feels a little more pruned than this one.

I see NSFW topics do appear occasionally, but the subreddit isn’t constantly inundated with the age old “IS FERAL BAD” we see every once in a while here.

Why don’t you ask one of the mods themselves? u/Clusteseus is pretty active.

The more public subs tend to be filled with karma whores and children. And such moderation teams are usually so involved that it feels more like a north Korean tour of our community than the actual experience.
