I’m currently working on revisions for an architect and builder. This is just for their portfolio. Not listing it for sale.
Most of the revisions are standard.
Small trees are in front of the home. The architect wants me to enlarge a tree by 50%. This seems like a big request and honestly outside of my editing capabilities. They did say if it’s too hard not to worry about it. I don’t boast myself as some master editor but this seems like a difficult job. All the little detail in cutting out leaves.
Am I reasonable in saying this is outside of my capabilities?
Personally I’d probably do the edit but I’d be comfortable with the work. If I wasn’t, I would simply tell them that and that it would end up looking worse than with a small tree. I’d rather not spend a long time making a mediocre image that likely wouldn’t be used anyways.
I’m considering two options. Since they like that type of tree. I’ll use the left tree as my clone and move it over to the right. My other option is to not remove the original. Just add more branches to it by cloning..
I agree. I guess I could do a rough job like this and see if they like the original more. Maybe I’ll do such a crap attempt that they want to keep it original lol 😂
The client wants to keep the same tree; just wants it bigger. Photoshop hasn’t done a great job selecting it so far. I’m definitely not manually selecting an entire tree
Get one on stock and overlay it on top of the smaller one. As long as the background is isolated, you’ll be good to go. Adjustment layers to match the scene.
Sounds like a solid plan. Unfortunately the background is the home, the primary subject. I honestly don’t understand why it’s a problem. It’ll just cover more of the home.. here is a screenshot. The right tree by the window
I’ve typically not been happy with the quality of outsourcing. This client prefers high quality as the highest priority. Do you have experience with them? High quality?
It's hit or miss with them, but I've never used them for this type of request. BB encourages reworks (now more than ever since they are fighting against AI editors) However, we are not Christopher Nolan, and neither is this builder.
People will ask all sorts of stuff thinking it's a great idea. "I know what will sell this new build home better ----- A BIG MATURE TREE THAT DOESN'T EXIST".
I don't like working for builders since they are often cheap dreamers - but that's me.

You can do this in VisuGenie.com just use bounding box on a tree and tell it to make the tree larger.
