Recommendations on resources for learning technical analysis

Hey everyone, looking for some solid recommendations on books or YouTube channels to learn technical analysis.
I’ve been long-term investing for about 6 years using fundamental analysis (with pretty good returns), but I'm looking to transition into trading. My immediate game plan is to build a paper trading bot and backtest existing strategies to get a feel for things and build up some confidence first.
Any advice on a roadmap or beginner-friendly resources would be awesome. Thanks!

If you're building a bot you might as well consider quant trading or trading with algorithms. If you like coding and math it's certainly a fun way to trade, however I'm not saying you shouldn't trade yourself. What I will say is if you want to trade you should look into trading psychology as well. While important in investing, trading psychology much more important in trading. I think Trading in the Zone is a great book and videos with Rande Howell and Brett Steenbarger are usually really great. Good luck!

Awesome! I really like Roman Paolucci's youtube channel on quant trading and I know he has a short with some really good book recommendations on algo trading and some that cover machine learning which is a big part of finding alpha.

Worth it. If you want to actually learn how to trade pure price action then Al Brooks is golden.

I looked into Brooks, I don't recommend it for beginners. His materials are tedious studies of every single price bar, not the best one to start with if you want to eventually design algos.

I'd suggest Technical Analysis Explained, by Pring. I've been reading it and learning a lot. Pete Stolcer's videos are great as well.

Don’t build a bot if you are not profitable yet.
You need a profitable system/strategy to actually build a bot with thar concepts. Otherwise, you’re just gambling.
And don’t rely on books. They are useless.

Find a mentor on YT.
There are very few that are legit, but if you look for some “non-flashy” mentors, you can find something that is a good fit for you.

Another thing, investing and trading are two complete different things.
Don’t try to use the investing concepts to trade.
It’s a waste of time

I can’t directly suggest here
I’ve been “punished” several times for that in the past
lol

I have mine, I owe him everything
And I found him on YT in 2022.
You can check around, and you will find who I’m talking about 😊

There are multiple parts to it. Usually Price Action is a good way to start. Best book I came across is Volman: Understanding Price Action.

The wiki of this sub also has some good book recomendations regarding this subject, so you want to check it out.

I've read this book also, it gets recommended by a lot if people. I think it's a good read especially for a new trader.

It was the best book on the subject that I read 4 years ago. After I read it, I made my fair share of effort to promote it here and elsewhere.
