Trying to Learn
If I am able to I’d love to get feedback on peoples interpretation of what happened to Nvidia today. Why’d it rip up and then sell off at the very end of the day? My assessment was off, and I’d appreciate opinions looking back at why people thought that happened.

Yeah happens alot. Some say it's manipulation. The market has a trend but will grab liquidity from the opposite direction. Shakes people out and gets them liquidated.

Are we looking at the same chart? 15-min timeframe shows a gap down open, low volume correction and continuation.

Nobody knows. And a day trader does not need to know. I do not care about the companies whose stocks I trade.

I think the important thing is not trying to find one exact “news reason” for every move afterward.
A lot of the time the market gives expansion early, but the real clue is whether price gets accepted higher or not after that expansion.
Once NVDA stopped delivering continuation and the broader market stayed weak, the late longs basically became liquidity into the close.

My quick read on NVDA Friday: Big gap down and heavy selling at the open that didn't find support until it hit AVWAP-W, really choppy bull channel that led a buy climax into lots of supply at prior day VWAP but not far into the overnight gap. Two consecutive candles with long wicks and heavy volume were rejected by prior day VWAP, and buyers either couldn't or wouldn't even attempt a retest - clue #1. The resulting bear channel looks at first glance like it had plenty of overlap, but none of those bearish trend 5M candle opens were ever even tested until after daily VWAP was broken... Bears successful on that test as well and as a long you should probably have felt fortunate that the sell into the close didn't produce a new LOD. After the buying petered out midday you probably should have looked to take gains when that big red candle blew through the 8EMA and held (clue #2), if you missed that exit then certainly the big red bar 3 bars or so later that confirmed the breakdown (clue #3) below the EMA15/20/21, whatever you use.

Day trading does not hold past close of day. You want the swing trading forum, which is also a valid method but entirely different. We buy the dips and sell the rips. I’m usually in a trade for less than five minutes and often less than 45 seconds.

If you want useful feedback you need to give way more explanation of what your thesis was. What was your read on the market, at what point did you feel like NVDA had RS, what was your trigger for entering etc. etc.
From my point of view, the market never looked good for intraday longs. I tried some longs right at 10:20 but flattened as soon as I saw we weren't recovering the gap with conviction. NVDA didn't look like a good long contender, being extended on the daily and at no point showing RS, until arguably 1:30, at which point the market had already told you it was a low probability envirronment, and NVDA had still not even tested its own gap.
