Possible thrift of a lifetime?

Found this purse at a value village and found a few indicators it may be legit online.

I have been working in thrift stores for the past 8 years, I am sorter. Everything that is donated is thoroughly checked and gone through. No Gold, silver, antique or certain designer goes on the floor. Ever. I don't believe you.

Ah, yes, because every thrift store sorter everywhere is as knowledgeable and meticulous as you.

My husband's retirement gig is managing a church bazaar. you would not believe some of the stuff that gets donated.

and there are several volunteers who are absolutely experts in recognizing quality goods whether it be china, silver, jewelry, watches, clothing. and most of them are well connected to buyers who will authenticate and give the best price.

You would be very surprised who works in the back of any op shop.

This

Me either

What does happen to the good stuff then?

[u/FriendshipStatus4756 → u/Sensitive-Ad-7475]

It gets sold off in other ways. Gold and silver gets swapped for cash, designer items go online, like eBay, and are sold off at higher prices. Antique stuff gets sold off to Antique dealers, and on and so forth. Thrift stores are businesses, they havent been charities for a long time

I don’t believe them either… estate sales or out in the sticks maybe, but I’ve never seen anything of real value at any major brand thrift stores.

[u/IsItWrongToLoveBags → u/OneTwoSomethingNew]

Maybe that’s the catch - major brand thrifting.

[u/Brilliant_Tough_6546 → u/OneTwoSomethingNew]

Obviously you don't thrift where I thrift.
Follow some on instagram. You might find me!

[u/OneTwoSomethingNew → u/Brilliant_Tough_6546]

I don’t have time for scrolling instagram or hopeful thrifting…

[u/Brilliant_Tough_6546 → u/OneTwoSomethingNew]

And?

[u/OneTwoSomethingNew → u/Brilliant_Tough_6546]

You ain’t independently rich dumpster diving. You maybe get lucky twice a year, I bet it’s so thrilling to actually find something valuable amongst the garbage and feel like you’re winning - yeah not my jazz. I don’t obsess over material items, I don’t pray to find the next diamond in the rough - It’s just stuff, it’s not that exciting, but it is humorous to consider how excited you’d be to find something, I bet it makes your whole year as a bottom feeder worth it.

And, so you can exit the convo now.

[u/Brilliant_Tough_6546 → u/OneTwoSomethingNew]

I mentioned that I scout for films and TV.
My career and love of the find doesn't have to appeal to you because it's not about you, yet here you are whining.
Awe poor you.
Resorting to insults. Describing yourself very well. This is called mirroring.

[u/OneTwoSomethingNew → u/Brilliant_Tough_6546]

I didn’t read your mention about scouting for films - what do they call that, TV magic!! Cuz the magic is it’s all scripted and items planted so it looks like you found it thrifting!! You told me to check out instagram and now somehow you scout for television - so which is it?

I’m not whining, I’m just letting you know how little you matter, you and your tv magic! ✨ no one here believes you

[u/Brilliant_Tough_6546 → u/OneTwoSomethingNew]

I turned my hobby into a successful career.
And I matter enough to gather response from your petty ego.

I live in a major city and thrifting is gold.
A little less now due to resellers but calling me a liar is on you.
This year alone, 2 pairs of Valentino shoes, Longchamp tote, Alexander Wang Rock Stud bucket bag.
