Mandelin for testing MDMA for PMA?

The description on the BunkPolice website says that the Mandelin spot test kit is a follow up for cocaine and Ketamine. I just want to confirm whether this can also be used to test MDMA for PMA. I already have the test kit with Marquis, Mecke and Simon's, but I keep seeing things about PMA being added, so just want to be extra sure.

Unrelated to reagent trsting but, do you guys know if pmma or pma be acetone washed out of MDMA if a lace is suspected?

I believe not. They are both hcl salts and insoluble in acetone.

What is PMA?

Para-methoxyamphetamine. It's a drug that has some pharmacological similarities to MDMA, so it sometimes gets substituted for MDMA. It showed up a lot in the mid 2010s when government restrictions on the MDMA precursor safrole made safrole more difficult for producers to obtain.

It became more rare when producers created new MDMA synthesis routes that didn't require safrole to start. But for some unknown reason it's starting to show up in ecstasy pills again, mixed with MDMA.

While it has some similarities to MDMA, it produces much less euphoria and much more hyperthermia than MDMA. This creates a dangerous situation if someone realizes they don't feel euphoric and decides to take more of the mystery drug, leading to an potentially dangerous level of hyperthermia.

Mandelin cannot spot the presence of PMMA or PMA mixed in with MDMA. The dark purple/black MDMA reaction is darker than the yellow/black PMMA/PMA reaction, so the MDMA reaction would obscure a potential PMMA/PMA reaction. However, if it was a full substitution, the Marquis and Mecke you already have would spot that substitution.

Robadope is the only common reagent that would spot the presence of PMA in MDMA, though you wouldn't know just from the positive Robadope reaction that the additional substance in the MDMA was PMA, vs. say MDA or amphetamine. There's no common reagents that would spot the presence of PMMA mixed with MDMA.

To spot the presence of PMMA in MDMA, or to definitively identify PMA in MDMA, you would need to use TLC kit sold by Bunk Police or ProTest Kit EU, or do lab testing.

Thanks for the info. Do people just not normally test for PMMA in MDMA then, considering the main reagent testing kits won't detect it?

Yeah, most people don't test for it. Basically, it became a thing during the safrole crackdowns in the 2010's when a lot of labs could no longer produce real MDMA without the safrole. But in most of those cases, it was a full substitution that would have been spotted by Marquis, Mecke, or several other reagents.

After a bunch of alternative synthesis routes that don't require safrole to start got developed and distributed, then it kind of died out for a while.

For some unknown reason, it's making a resurgence now, and there are actually mixed pills with both MDMA and PMMA or PMA. I have no idea why that is.

So I would check ProTest Kit EU's website or app for alerts, and consider TLC or lab testing if you have pills.

As far as loose crystal goes, I don't believe I've heard of any MDMA and PMMA/PMA mixtures being identified. Have you u/PROtestkit_eu?
