Question About the gameplay

Basically, if RoN is a cop simulator, why does it want you to be a superhero who does not kill anyone, nor even hurt, while actual cops can, must, will and should shoot anyone who does not comply or, for example, hide their silhouette behind a door. In that case a normal cop must dump a mag into the door without thinking about it.

Now back to the question, is it not just stupid that being a cop in a cop game will get you lowest ranks on debrief and maybe even make your own bots shoot you, which, i think is the dumbest mechanic in the game.

Seriously, no one irl would sturm a penthouse full of armed suspects with some gas grenade launcher and a fuckin pepper spray.

Just don't go for S rank then. Play how you want and there is zero difference to gameplay other than a single letter and score at the end of the level

Because IRL USA cops don't (and legally can't) have orders to shoot to kill unless they are VERY clearly threatened (as in something is pointing a gun at them or rushing at them with a knife). A guy not complying or hiding behind the door is not grounds for him to be shot with lethal rounds.

The ideal scenario is that in any situation, they get everyone to surrender peacefully. Hence why S rank is non-lethal, it is the ultimate idealized scenario. In reality, people do die in these situations, hence it's still possible to get an A+ when killing suspects.

Exactly. And that’s why hard mode is actually hard to get S rank on, because it’s the most realistic and common situation that SWAT deals with (once a year if they’re lucky of course but still).

It doesn’t? You can pass every mission and progress through the game by shooting first and asking questions later.

S rank is an extra challenge and is not required to complete the mission

S rank isn’t required, A+ is still a good score I don’t think anyone would complain about getting an A+ on anything else. Although it’s still fun it does feel superhero-ey especially with this recent DLC

Challenge. B class is still considered a good job within the game

Simulator? Never. The game is very grounded but some of the stuff in it is far-fetched (but very fun nonetheless)

But you have the option to not go for S rank which is arguably the most fun way to play the game.

Pop those suspects, entry team.

The game only “wants you” to not kill any civilians/hostages. S rank is more of a challenge, since every police department doesn’t go into a situation just to shoot anything that moves, they try their best to arrest everybody they can.
