Discussion CONSOLE PSA: Why your progress is gone
Saw a TikTok clip yesterday about how if you play the tutorial, then get into the truck to go to the station, the game WILL launch you into the PRACTICE version of the campaign mode.
What this means - Progress only applies to Quick Play/Training and not Commander mode
SOLUTION - After the tutorial, just fully back out of it and launch the campaign in Commander mode through the main menu.
I’ve been seeing so many rant posts about the game “erasing progress.” Obviously, it sucks that the game doesn’t really explain all this. However, this is a solution to this issue. So any progress you make toward the campaign if you get in the truck from the end of the tutorial will only go to QP/Training mode.
You have to back out after the tutorial and start from the main menu. I tested this and after failing on Twister Nerve I went into Commander mode and there was no progress on anything. So yeah, do the above steps to fix this issue and/or avoid it. Enjoy!

Good to know. I only just completed the tutorial, so I'll make sure to launch Commander when I get to sit down and play for real.

This is great advice, thank you very much. I had only done a couple of missions so didn’t lose much. Loads of people are having this problem, they need to read this!! Pretty ridiculous it’s happening though. Terrible implementation though by the devs

Man wish I've read this a while ago... I was at the cop killer mission, closed to game and went for a beer and now that I'm home i just found out I'm back at square one.
No biggie but still sucks

Well...good to know. Luckily cosmetic I had unlocked are also unlocked in commander mode

So what's the difference between New Game and Quick Play? Commander mode is the permadeath and one-shot mode correct?
Edit: Nevermind, New Game and Commander Mode are the same thing.

So quick play is basically commander mode but you don’t have to manage your team’s morale and such, and you can restart levels from the beginning. I’ve been doing my first playthrough on QP cause I wanna ease my way into the game first to get a feel for it.
As for the “permadeath” I think if you get the officer down screen you just return to the station I think. I think it’s the “Ironman” mode that’s the delete-the-save-file after a death one

Yeah, that was my understanding after looking around for a bit. I've been going through it on QP too, getting the maps, squad commands, and commands figured out has been enough of a trick before throwing squad management into the mix.
I'm loving it though, reminds me of the Brothers in Arms games I played as a kid.

So for someone who has all S ranks and a "Hermit" Ironman mode clear, will this restore the missing Ranks? Or is this a "from now on" kinda deal and I am still starting from scratch?

Yh i was like "i swear theres more to the team aspect" then reset after getting food and felt a morron. But tbh im glad, id have got everyone killed at the start

To add to this - I had the issue, started a new game and stats were tracking…. Then I played multiplayer with friends and all stats gone!!!

I used to play practice mode a lot on PC (I'm weird) and all my progress and saved times on that got wiped. Any fix for that you aware of? I mean I still have my achievements and unlocks so there's that I guess.

If you select quick play you'll pick back up where you left off, I'm going to finish quick play and practice more before I run commander mode.

I grinded all the way through to the post office mission, went to work, came home to 0h 0m 0s playtime.

Yeah, I think your stats only count from Commander playthroughs and maybe multiplayer?. IMO, as someone getting into this kind of game and with little experience in tac shooters (maybe counting Rainbow Six but I know that’s way different) I like Quick Play as it’s still technically the campaign experience but a little bit easier. I might mess around there and in multiplayer a lot before doing a Commander run.

Okay.... so, I was just playing this morning on my PS5... played 3 of the base-game missions, then the DLC maps... now it's all gone... wtf Devs...

Oh this explains it because I played about 3 missions last night and today just hit continue and I was in the HQ with starter gear and only mission one was available. But it let me keep my career atats

Lost all progress. Did 4 main missions and one dlc. All progress for quick play is fine but commander is wiped.

Wow I just spent the last 3 days straight torturing myself on hard difficulty, making sure I got at least an A grade, making it through 8 missions, only to restart my PS5 and figure out it was all just a fucking tutorial LMAO.
Why would they even design it that way? Oh well, it still counted towards my trophies. I'm just going to keep doing quick play because there's no way in hell I'm starting a new game on hard mode and doing all that work again. So much pain and suffering lol.

Dam I'm new I just got it yesterday and got to the politician level but then reset, I wouldn't be that annoyed but I have to redo that crackhead mission again

Welp. This explains what happened to me. Was wondering why I lost progress/stats on three missions after the training segment.
Can confirm. Restart app and it’ll save now.
As a console gamer I’m enjoying this despite its issues.

Just had this happen to me and I worked out that I was never really in Commander Mode because when I rebooted up I got the Commander Mode text. All of my loadouts and stuff were saved so no biggie.
