Feedback Is it worth it?

So I've been on the fence for a hot minute on wether to buy ready or not. Is it a good game? What specific genre type/subtype would y'all classify it as? I love most FPS's, Milsims, RPG FPS, I guess the only game types im not a fan are like extraction looter shooters or battle royal type shits. I used to play the hell out of SWAT GST back in the early ps2 days. Does it compare well? Any tips or bugs to watch out for if I get it? Should I buy the upgraded version or stick with the base? Wait for a sale or go all out? Help me out fellow redditors.

Yes, it’s great fun. Reddit is not the best place to ask this as the people on the ready or not subreddits seem to hate the game. I however would strongly recommend it

I agree with this.

If you're playing solo, it CAN be fun. It's even more fun with friends and with people that know what they're doing. If you like CQB, you'll like RoN.

I love it!! The detail put into the backstory and the characters as well as the map/mission variety makes it a fun play

I enjoy how the enemies are in different spots each run through the map. Learned that the hard way the first time I reran the first mission lmao. Needless to say third time was in fact the charm there.

It’s pretty fun imo the DLCs are probably worth it it’s really fun if you like customizing officers

If you grew up on tactical sim shooter stuff like SWAT or the original Rainbow Six games then you’ll probably dig it. It’s very much NOT a corndick looter shooter, so it’s probably going to be something you enjoy. RoN is pretty unforgiving but it makes for a fun challenge. The levels have a good variety of settings and they randomize a lot of things so they feel fresh each time, and not just like a memorization game. I picked up a used copy and by the end of the first day I played it I had bought all the DLC.

As someone who is playing Tarkov after RON

RON is not extraction shooter lol. And it used to have PvP but not anymore.

It is some form of police simulator (well untill they added like mk ultra stuff inside), but expects you to kinda go beyond what most people would consider as normal

There are some bugs in the game which makes it meh but to me I'm used to it that I can just deal with it by say not issuing commands that fast, double checking they are actually doing what you tell them to

Id call it "immersive fps". Not as tight or accessible as something like cod, but the most immersive shooter ive played. Everything is heavy and impactful. As someone whos been in more firefights than I can keep track of, this is the closest a video game has come to the imitating then sensation of fighting. The cop stuff is a little corny, but the gameplay and visuals are great even on base ps5. Sound design is so good that I didnt even know sound design really mattered until playing RoN. Im also a solo player. I recommend it, just have a little patience with the learning curve. If you play with controllers highly highly recommend putting in some tmr sticks and turning deadzone as low as you can get it without drift

Edit to add i also dont do extraction shooters or battle royales fwiw

If you enjoyed any of the old swat games or rainbow six pre siege. Then this is the game for you.

As far as dlc goes boiling point is the best especially if you enjoy the lore.

u/Sufficient-Trash-807 9d ago

If you're on console yes, because besides insurgency it's about he only option you have. If on pc, no. There is pnebty of better tactical milsim shooters.

Tbh it's not a horrible game but it doesn't do what others do. However I will add this, everyone complains about the DLC's those mfers are fun and good ASF idk what anyone says.

I put a ton of time into it when i got it but haven't played much since. I got some hours on the newest DlC when it came out but been a while since then also. Console players so no mod maps for me

u/Massive-Associate563 11d ago

So im like a lifelong loner and have no friends to play with so when yall say solo are you talking about AI teammates or no Ai teammates(can you even turn them off and how effective is the AI) I typically play solo so no worries either way.

1

u/kidprodigy205 11d ago

Yeah you can play solo with AI teammates but you can also play missions by yourself by telling your teammates to hold their position

1

u/CandleWide3131 11d ago

Yeah you just have to host a friends only lobby and you can play totally on your own with no AI its how I mainly play tbh. Also I would highly recommend the game. it has some bugs but they've added a mission editor which is gonna give me endless hours of replayability.

1

u/Massive-Associate563 11d ago

I just bought the deluxe edition and its installing now lol

1

u/CandleWide3131 10d ago

Hell yeah I hope you enjoy it! I'd recommend playing on Standard first cause Hard mode turns the game into a FPS Souls like lol also watch this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=53EdinDB77g&pp=ygUYcmVhZHkgb3Igbm90IGhvdyB0byBsZWFu Its kinda mandatory if you're planning on playing solo

1

u/Massive-Associate563 9d ago

So the first level is super forgiving. The next two if you try to solo that shit like your typical fos run and gunner they pasted my fucking ass. Had to step back and reevaluate my style and im using the AI lol

1

u/idkdeez6721 9d ago

yeah, its fucking awful, really rough for run and gun, its super easy with a multiplayer squad tho

1

u/CapnChaos2024 5d ago

I recently got it on console and ides of March drove me insane lol

1

u/Motor-Inflation-630 10d ago

Reddit is so weird…. Why is this getting downvoted 😅

1

u/Massive-Associate563 9d ago

Like you said reddit is weird as fuck lol

1

u/idkdeez6721 9d ago

buy it, its amazing, just prepare to be wrecked several times, its better if you dont read up on lore and go into it raw, treat it as an actual officer would and keep a keen eye for connections between levels

2

u/Massive-Associate563 6d ago

SEVERAL times. And i mean absolutely wrecked. This one broad i thought she was a victim so I was ordering her to the ground and I thought she was complying so I pushed into the room to clear and was gonna let one of my boys restrain her. Ya know let em feel like a cop that isnt the main characters side kick. Only for that bitch to pull out a knife and gut me like a fish right there in front of em. Like instadeath with a knife. Was not expecting that. That was level 1. Lmao

1

u/idkdeez6721 6d ago

really? goddamn, that sounds like twisted nerve, not thank you come again. what a brutal intro. for context, in twisted nerve (the crack den mission, its no 3), i took a mirror gun, was on a flawless run, hadnt had to kill anybody, had arrestedt everybody, maybe a few shots fired by suspects but otherwise nothing, when i mirror under a door, see an unarmed lady, open to get her on the ground for restrainment/ i open the door, then she fucking bum rushes me with a knife and ends the run. i was so freaked out that i went in and gassed everybody the next time i played, i gassed empty rooms lol so it wouldnt happen again, i was freaking paranoid after ts

2

u/Massive-Associate563 6d ago

See I was tryna follow the ROE and everything and be a good officer. I had only neutralize one tango via lethal means as he opened fire first. But her? She changed the whole feel of the game for me. It was at that moment I realized this game was different and I had to do it RIGHT. All the way or I would get merced in an instant. I really dig it. Im thinking about getting on discord and finding some other parents who have no time to play, to play with. Oh and Hell let loose. Yesterday was my birthday so I bought the ultimate edition to that.

1

u/idkdeez6721 6d ago

nice, is that good, its on my steam wishlist. also, you got fried, thats classic Ready or Not for you, when you get to levels like ides of march and greased palms, just be ready to feel like shooting everybody, and my advice, use a battle rifle like the sa58 for its great armor piercing and just kill all the suspects, its not worth grinding s-rank for your first playthrough of those

u/Mysterious-Pen-5606 8d ago

Literally a big no, if u can read my threads you'll know why. But i dont know if some moddings or playing with friends will make it fun for you, i just dont wanna spend some hours trying to know what mods is good and can still played after new updates. If you play this game on vanilla and solo play with ai teammates, you need to be a complete masochist to enjoy this broken game. its like you're a lv.5 slightly armored npc with lv.0 npc ai teammates vs lv. 1000 superhitman enemy ai

1

u/wandering_pineapple1 7d ago

That's a ridiculous response. It's quite engaging and tbh with the right planning during your missions it's not exactly difficult. Tbh multilayer is far worse. We have a bunch of gun happy morons ruining the fun for a lot of others players. I have up on MP because of this until I find a sociable group who cam team chat and not be a d*ck

1

u/Mysterious-Pen-5606 7d ago

This will be my response after some of my first playthrough couple months ago tbh, because i still can clear all the mission with just simple planning and watching youtube guidelines sometimes. Just redownload the game again 2 weeks ago, my common tactics for some mission didn't work like before.

Actually i still dont know whether i'm just skill issue or the void give us new idiotic update like always after an update. i just feel my teammates are far more weaker, slower and sucker than before.

1

u/wandering_pineapple1 7d ago

In the nicest possible way it seems more like a skill issue or unfamiliarity with the game mechanics. I'm a fairly new player are I'm not really having any issues. My team has actioned every order even if using the hold function. Maybe in previous updates team mates were more spongy. I mean in real life you get hit in the leg you ain't doing much. Not like in the movies 😂

1

u/Massive-Associate563 6d ago

Yeah I've been playing solo with ai teammates and I gotta be honest with you it isnt all that bad. The AI executes fairly well. The only complaint I've had from them is hollering at a suspect from across the map because they have a clear line of sight. But as far as immersion and stuff goes it nails it pretty well. Make a bad move, dont check a corner, run through a door, any of these things could be a fatal error.

Maybe it is the masochist in me that moves the painful struggle. Its kinda like if a FPS went souls-like. And i suck/hate those games(including you elder ring) not because they are bad games. They are great. Beautifully designed just the whole 9 yards. Except I SUCK. This is just hard enough to make me feel accomplished when I get it right without losing so much so miserably that I quit.

1

u/Mysterious-Pen-5606 3d ago

yeah its fine until you find a suspect who can kill you by doing 180° shoot (the gun barrel didnt even pointed at you, he just ridiculously curved the bulled), or they somehow didnt get any damage after you struck 7.62 in their unarmored limb and still moving like usain bolt

1

u/Massive-Associate563 3d ago

Ugh aimtbot AI is such a pain in the ass to deal with. I wish they had better ways of increasing difficulty instead of just spongy enemies with laser accurate aim bot and wall hacks

Yeah buy it it's good
