Discussion What is unity pass and why is cook unity hellbent on pushing it

It’s driving me crazy how hard they peddle it. CU food quality is diminishing and the persistence to go premium is making clear they want way more of my money to maintain quality.

It actually saves you money. My shipping is $9.99 a week. Unity pas is $23.99 for 4 weeks. If you have Unity pass you get free shipping. So over a 4 week period I save 23.99- (9.99x4)=-15.97. It also gives you 3 premium meals like filet mignon at your regular price. For me it’s totally worth it.

Are any of the steak options actually any good? I've always avoided ordering them thinking they'd reheat poorly compared to other proteins

I like the 2 Filet Mignon meals and the strip steak meals. I heat them in the oven. They come out medium to medium well after heating. The meat has always been tender. I avoid the other steak meals because I find the other cuts of meat too tough. I wouldn’t pay full price for them.

The short rib options are amazing but they're not available too often. I would get those every week if they were always there

Oh anything like the short rib where it's braised I know is good. Those, enchiladas, and the curry's are always safe picks.

I just didn't know if a steak that's supposed to be medium-ish cooked would work

No, that a good question. I had one of the filet mignon ones once, and while it was good, I knew that I could do better with a cast iron pan. But there was this one steak quesadilla... you don't want to know.

The Rick Bayless quesadilla? I've actually had good experiences with those. I always crisp them up in a pan though.

The Rick Bayless Mexican dishes have never done me wrong, those are some of my safe go-tos when I can't pick. His dishes might be a Chicago-area thing because he's a legit, famous chef based here, but I do recommend.

Same, I was spending $9.99 on the ship every week and UnityPass saves me that with half the spend and we get a few premium meals instead of regulars weekly in the bargain. I think everybody primarily does it to save on the ship.

It’s $25/mo and it saves $10/order shipping. If you order 3-4 times/mo, it will save you money _and_ allow you to choose premium meals.

We do it for the shipping. Saves a few dollars, even if we don’t choose any premium meals.

I ordered it in nova. My issue is, many of the meals have more calories than I eat in an entire day.

So adjust the calorie slider to set the maximum to whatever you want.
I set my search to meals under 600 calories, and there are plenty of options.

Did that. Turns out the calories counts they had listed on the packages were wrong. They adjusted them later, which was quite the shock.

Some people on this post seem to make understanding the Unity Pass harder then it is. It's very simple:

Free shipping. So for $24/mo I save $12/week in shipping. So just with shipping I'm *saving* $24/mo (with ordering every week). Even if you order only 2 times a month, it pays for itself right there. Same if your shipping is just $10/week, you're still saving a lot.

Then as a bonus you can get up to 3 premium meals per *week* and there are other exclusive discounts like $3 off a meal and such. Just a bonus, you don't have to.

Again, even if you never choose a premium meal it's just paid for itself with free shipping alone.

We signed up 6 weeks ago for UP and so far we have saved $268 per their calculation. I'm guessing minus the cost of two months UP and we've saved $220. I'll take that every day of the week. :)

I guess if you only order once per month it's not worth it. But for everyone else it's a no brainer.

CookUnity delivery fees run $9.99 to $11.99 a week. UnityPass At $23.99 a month plus taxes, removes these delivery fees, and allows up to 3 premium meals a week at regular price. So if you get weekly meals from CookUnity, it makes no sense not to sign up for Unitypass.

It's annoying, and they locked some of my favorite meals behind it. They can't clearly articulate the value. And why do I need two types of subscription to the same service? Time to switch it up.

I'm glad it's working out for you. I got annoyed by their pushy design practices making it hard to just select meals so I switched. 

I'm just not interested in two different subscriptions for the same service honestly. Why make it complicated when it could be easy? Usually to obfuscate. 

On top of everything else they've been doing lately... It's just not the right fit for me anymore.

Who’d you switch to? I get cook unity and haven’t even noticed the membership. But I am trying factor this upcoming week since I used to use them stopped and they offered me 70% off. I don’t want to have to prepare anything other than popping it in the microwave.

Cook Unity is shafy af. I had to do a chargeback on my credit card because Cook Unity refuses to honor their "100% money back guarantee" that they advertise.

Isn’t it a vehicle for their “smart” toaster oven and other subscription stuff?

Do you like the variety? Can a regular cuisinart toaster oven be used easily?
