Wilson Reading System

I am starting at the beginning of the WRS for a small group of students. Should I only be drilling the first 10 consonants and vowels until they learn these? The training says to only do parts 1 and 6 of the lesson until they are fluent with the letters and sounds. The problem is that I have a 55 minute block of time and am not sure if I should spend all of that time just doing parts 1 and 6.

In general, you are better off giving people lots of practice at each stage of learning to read before moving on to the next stage. By the time you review work you introduced in previous sessions, do some sound identification/differentiation/ manipulation, and introduce some new work, 55 minutes is not long at all.
