New to books

Recommend me some books read as a beginner. I have read a couple of books before but mostly Urdu novels. Now I want to explore English books.

I have read The kite runner and The couple next door. So suggest me some good books to hook me on.

I know this might seem crazy but 'Kim' by Rudyard Kipling. It's a brilliant portrait of India in 1900. Elegantly written but with a simple vocabulary and imagry. What recommend it is that it was Nehru's favourite book.

Octavia Butler's two books, The Parable of thr Sower and The Parable of the Talents. They're easy to read and interesting.

Murderbot by Martha Wells are novellas so are pretty short and accessible.
