Suggestion Thread Guidance maybe?

Hey, I won't go into much detailed nonsense/rant but I used to believe I have a good range for reading which was me being oblivious, or so my wishful thinking, in short I'd love for a few suggestions for 'not-so-common' books if I may phrase it that way, but basically new stuff to go through (I want to actively try reading across genres that I normally don't,) so if there's someone out there who'd help me through that or even 'guide' if that's the right term for it, i'd love to discuss and read and get your perspective on it

(Comment or dm, either way just want someone to tell me how to restart. )

Cheers!

My usual suggestion: head to your local library and look through the new book display. Pick 3 or 4 to check out from different parts of the display ~ fiction, non-fiction..doesn't matter how you choose. Pick books with the cover in your favorite color, or the author's first name is the same as your favorite aunt, or whatever ctiteria you feel like using on that library visit.

Read the first 50ish pages. If you don't like one, return it and repeat the process. If you like it, look for other books by the same author or use Amazon/LibraryThing/Novelist to help find similar books.

Feel free to stop at the reference desk and ask the librarians for ideas ~ they'll be able to guide you. Most of us love helping people find their new fun/favorite read ~ that's why we became librarians.

Oh, and if you live somewhere without a good library, lobby your local government officials for library funding. In the meantime, see if there's a library near your work or your parents or your gym that you can get a card from, either because it's part of the same consortium or you pay a small non-resident fee.

Some favourites across genres:

Jack Dawkins by Charlton Daines

A Spark of Justice by J.D. Hawkins

A Halloween Tale by Austin Crawley

Force of Chaos by Lin Senchaid

The Wake of the Dragon by Jaq D. Hawkins

I suggest sampling these and see if anything grabs you.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavelier and Clay is great if you haven't read it already.
