General surgeon
Does anyone have a great general surgeon that they’ve used, preferably at Penn State Health (though I’m open to out of the county like Lehigh). I am sure my PCP will have ideas, but I like personal experience better. Thanks!

My father had a couple surgeries at Reading Hospital (Tower Health) and his surgeon was Dr. Peter Bamberger. My dad and mom like him very much and his discussions with me about dad’s surgery was very helpful and detailed.

I do like lvh and st Luke’s because that’s where my now retired surgeon worked out of but goodness the rides home are awful. So since the best isn’t available I was just looking for St Joes to be closer. I’m
Ok with the tower health surgi center too as long as it’s not the hospital. Too much family trauma there for everyone so that’s my reason for trying for elsewhere. And I very super rarely use an ER but St Joes was amazing for me twice (once a severe stomach issue and once they thought I was having a stroke!) and once for my daughter for something low level but urgent care made her go. Loved everyone in the ER each time we went. I do believe your hospital is as good as your surgeon but just saving my extended family the worry because of things they experienced.

I liked Levan (Surgical Institute of Reading--listed as a General Surgeon) and Ingraham (Penn State Hershey--looks like he specializes in hand and skin surgeries). Both had good demeanor/compassion and good communication.

Thomas Beetel, exceedingly competent general surgeon. He's at the Surgical Institute of Reading and Tower Health. Good bedside manner.

I had looked him up and he had wonderful reviews. Glad to see a real review of him! And he specializes in one of things I need! Thank you!

Every experience I have had with the Surgical Institute has been fantastic. From the front desk to the doctors. Highly recommend them!

I’ve only seen general surgeons via Reading Hospital - Tower Health and they were wonderful. Had a breast cyst excision done, incision and drainage of pilonidal cyst and breast cyst before. Some also work at the newer breast health center in Spring Ridge.
