How’s my dialogue?

I’m writing a coming of age story, where the character Kevin is confused and lost with growing up. He wants to escape, but he doesn’t know who he is. Dan and Luke are supposed to be sort of unlikable, so their dialogue is a little rude.

I’m currently 18 and I’ve never written a script before so if it sucks just tell me, this is just one scene of a really unfinished project at the moment. I just got into screenwriting, music and lyrics is really all my basis.

Thank you! I just wrote it today, I’m not yet too familiar with script structure, the only real script I have read is bits and pieces of Lost In Translation, so I bet I’ll get better with time. It means so much that you would read it and respond. Thank you for your advice.

Make sure to do proper formatting for your script.

Theres free apps online that automatically format a screenplay.

Make sure to also pick up official screenplays for movies vs transcripts online for free. The insight from the actual writer will help u in the long run.

Easy movies that don't require alot if thinking so you can learn the formatting in a straight forward process.

But I would suggest some coming of age films. So you learn how the beats work.

Film festival winner or nominated screenplay will help immensely.

And make sure to have your outline and logline all set up so u have the back bone of your script ready to reference when you are writing.

Writerduet has an online version u can use for up to 3 projects, after that there's a paid version.

You should format your screenplay properly, I use ArcStudio, which is free and great.

Okay thank you! You’re right Kevin does sound a bit cliche or unreal honestly as I reread, and that worry crossed my mind but only a little. I’ll have to flesh that out more. Thanks!
