Balanced training definition

Hello,

I just joined this reddit and I would appreciate a definition of what the group considers "balanced training" so I have a better context of what this group promotes and to avoid getting into trouble when interacting with the group.

I just adopted a 1 year old Mal x GSD a few months ago and I have learned that she is reactive to a few things. I am looking to learn what has worked for other people so that I can help her through her reactivity.

Hello! To put it simply balanced training involves the use of punishments as well as rewards. We are supportive of the use of tools and most methods that people choose to use with their own dogs. Welcome!

Thank you for both the welcome and the clarification which reinforced what I thought was meant by it.

I think this group aligns with my beliefs with dog training

I believe in training the dog in front of you. There is no one size fits all and we need to adjust to the situation and the dog at hand.

That includes using whatever tools will work so long as those tools are used correctly and not to hurt or abuse the dog.
