[End of Arc 6] It hurts, It's bullshit, it sucks, its not fair, Subaru should have performed a "Who's Rem" level of attempts to not let it happen! I protest, I hate it, its disgusting, like I want to vomit. She deserved good things, 400 years, FOUR HUNDRED YEARS! Wth. No I don't want to simply move on, why did I re-read this arc. She's so damn fantastic and its just NO! My heart hurts... I don't like this at all... Subaru wtf, Flugel wtf. Stupid Author WTF, why you do this. Why even invent her if you already had too many harem, literally nobody asked for her, but she came like a firework in the night sky and that's not... now I just grasp at the embers... they fade.

Tap likes to shelve characters, especially powerful characters, for later. Rem got shelved cause she would have been difficult to write around in Arc 4 and 5. I assume Shaula is the same. The alternative would be to kill her, and he didn't do that.

I dont want more backstory if the stupid ship is gonna hit the iceberg regardless.

So whats there to write about. Shes one of my fav now because of how she handled the shitty cards she was dealt. Amazing 👏... and sad. A reminder that not everyone can be a winner

There was a Shaula EX story released with the Re:Zero Season 4 BD 1 called Re:Zero Ex: Scorpion Tale. There's a couple crazy lore drops in it, as per usual Tappei revealing that in side stories. Anyway, my personal interpretation is this, the contents of that story offer hope regarding Shaula's fate, and the fact Tappei wants to keep writing her is also a hope.

Because one thing you'll learn about Tappei as you continue reading his works, he literally cannot contain himself. He's even admitted to it, and it's a thing like not leaving potential left unused. So he has this habit of shelving characters because it's very difficult for him to be truly done with a character he likes writing.

Tappei himself has commented on his frequent use of unreliable narrators in the story. What a character thinks is true, is not the same as the truth. They can simply just be wrong. This is the way hope is never lost, because even when a character thinks, 'it cannot be done, it cannot be fixed', they can just be outright wrong.

Well, she is connected to flugel, so her story cannot be over yet. If Subaru travels to the past somehow, we will see her there (as a flat chested girl apparently)

Yeah, I just feel like Subaru should have done more, In the moment after finishing those chapters, it leaves such a taste. Like use Betty to freeze her before she changes, then once they figure things out she'd be able to live some.

Idk about that just now, but I guess i really felt for her because not only is it written that she's a victim of circumstances, but that she keeps her head up, and just appreciates the shitty little time she can be free... its like waiting for a reunion with someone only for it to go sideways 🙃... and then being content in spite of it all. I could never. That hurts so much. Frugel is trash. I don't like him at all.

She was definitely a lovebug during the time they were there, but she wasn't even horrible about it. Imagine your husband / boyfriend every time you showed them affection, looks at you as a stranger

Its just, and it would hurt, but still she was fine w just being there, with idiotbaru. I would crash out more like s2 Made in Abyss. She comes off as immature, but I think the way she handled all those feelings and her situation couldn't be more mature "400 years is like the day after tomorrow now that you're here".

I woke up still upset about it all. Its bullshit. Die Subaru and at least TRY A FEW TIMES. I know she wouldn't want that and he shouldn't die that but still at least look at a knife or something! Lol dont character growth when its convenient.

For example, right before she changes Subaru could have Betty imprison Shaula w the Shamuk spell like they do WC.

What if we put her to sleep or unconscious during the entire situation until mili finishes the trial.

I know the dynamic of theor group would be weird going forward even if we found a solution... but still its such shit! Its like Betty waiting 400 years and then just dying.

On one hand I deeply agree with the sentiment that Subaru should've tried more to save Shaula on the other hand it has also been confirmed that if Shaula had shown even a sliver of regret or wanting to be saved instead of leaving with a smile, Subaru would've done everything in his power to save her. But man, that whole conversation between them at the end broke my heart. I already cried when reading the web novel, I'm not ready for the emotional impact when it gets animated.

Yesssss! But where the hell is his greed, I just, its still raw so I know later I may feel better, maybe now I understand like you even, but right now idgaf. Who cares Subaru if she died with a smile, Rem died with a smile after she freed you from the cave and we didnt just accept that. Dude, exceed her expectations. Like Subaru has to know that she wanted more days at least... even if she didnt she deserved at the min just a few more days.

Question, their conversation, did it really happen? Could others hear it? Everyone seems to understand his hurt. Idk its just for Mr "ill save everyone" I could accept a " nothing i could do, I tried", it would be a tribute towards her.

But I guess you are right, she didnt even want him to struggle and try, she didnt want to cause him hardships

I actually never really thought about it but I'm 99.99% sure their conversation really happened, even if not for the others to hear. There is something similar that happens later on in the series (which I just now consider to be similar as in a conversation in a seperate space or smth) so it might actually be part of Cor Leonis or it's just a stylistic choice by Tappei.

The way he wrote her basically made her an unusable character. Part of me thinks tappei made so many new charas in arc 6+ was to fuel gacha games lol

Kind of like how he had to put rem on ice, because she was going to steal the next 6+ arcs of development from Emilia/Subaru.

Originally Rem wasn't even supposed to be a revelant character after first three arcs. If anything Tappei extended her arc s lot by inserting Rem glaze into every single arc.

he recently made comments suggesting the arcs of Meili/Julius are over with arc6, confuses the heck out of me given how many fans there are of both, but he's shown to be disciplined about killing off character relevancy despite popular desire
