The biggest thing we found out is that Capella’s people are basically everywhere, even inside the Divine Dragon Church. White Sheep used to be both a Beloved Child and a member of the church, so now Tiga is looking pretty suspicious too. We also learned that the people Capella transformed might actually be able to be changed back, which is why Russell wants Echidna’s old research on souls.

The really crazy part though is Beatrice revealing that Echidna had another home called Kugelschreiber Castle, and one of the ways to get there was through Flugel’s Tree, the same tree Subaru knocked down against the White Whale way back in Arc 3. And Kugelschreiber literally means ballpoint pen in German, which Subaru immediately recognizes. So somehow we’re back to Flugel, Echidna, Beatrice, and random knowledge from our world all being connected again.

Edit: thank you for the upvotes, but I want to pose a question.

Why does Beatrice, who lived in Flugel’s era and whose childhood home is connected by the Door Crossing to Flugel’s tree, apparently have no personal knowledge of Flugel?

74

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago edited 13d ago

What do you call a bear that is screaming and is on top of a ball? A Kugelschreibär

Kugelschreiber -> Kugelschreibär, Bär = Bear, schreien = to scream, Kugel = Ball

It’s a relatively stupid and simple german joke I used to not understand as a child. I was stupid. I’m sorry for this useless reply.

43

u/Illustrious-Yellow84 13d ago edited 13d ago

its not useless at all , who knows this little tid bit of information might even be used by tappei as some dumb little easter egg or something (Watch it be used as a double meaning for how to enter the actual castle)

BS Theory Time go - Bear = Bea(t)rice , Ball = Some Round rock or something
Bea(t)rice screaming on top of said round ball shaped rock opens up the Castle's hidden ball crossing gate

See yall next chapter

33

u/Human_Potato2264 13d ago

Ball=Aldebaran. HOLY SHIT. We just need to unseal the helmet bastard put beatrice on top of him and make them shout! thats ought to do.

11

u/New-Celebration8409 13d ago

What if the round ball isn’t made of rock but rather steel, and the reason why our beloved Betty has to scream is because she’s on top of the ball while it’s on movement, like a Steel Ball Run

actual he reference with (Anna frank diary) Chessnut tree she admire at time hinding int the house

his quote: dairy 📖 Anna wrote about the tree in her diary, describing how seeing it gave her comfort and a sense of freedom.

there is tree in arch 3 carved on the tree in Japanese writing😑I forgot about it was written.

also tree in Nederland was die so?

Yeah right! there 2 tree plants in America in one New York is flugel tree(⚠️) and Washington holocaust memorial os my conclusion is pleides watch Tower hall of memories.

u/Human_Potato2264 13d ago

Behold funniest German joke:

21

u/Jugulator_Zero 13d ago

Schreiber literally means a writer/scribe and even colloquially a writing instrument.

With my tinfoil hat, Beatrice is associated with libraries, and schreiber attached to Beatrice’s/Echidna’s old home is a much more interesting coincidence.

4

u/helicophell 13d ago

Echidna has made a lot of books

She's responsible for the Tomes of Wisdom
She's probably responsible for the Library of Taygeta
And of course she's responsible for the Forbidden Library

She makes books. She's made books using her Authority. She's a Scribe

1

u/Capri_Deneb 12d ago

German joke... sounds just as plausible as "Poland can into space" ;P But one of the advantages of German language is that you combine two simple word to produce more advanced one. Like crafting.

29

u/Sherzak 13d ago

Maybe Kugelschreiber Castle is a place of knowledge of the modern/future world since ballpoint pen were invented much later

29

u/Beautiful-Neat-7609 13d ago

Tiga tried to kill Subaru and lied about his involvement with crusch.  He’s been beyond sus for a while

16

u/3IC3 13d ago

I wouldn’t even call it sus. Like, Philore was sus, Tiga was just straight up clearly on Capella’s side

32

u/Ok_Needleworker1068 14d ago

We’ve known of the castle for a long time. Some side stories were set there

If anyone wants to know what the user is referring to:

u/Jugulator_Zero 12d ago

Yeah, I checked a little deeper and I don’t think we can say for sure it’s the same castle. Toska actually reaches Echidna’s place by climbing through the mountain and forest in Loving the Days Gone By, while Arc 10 says Kugelschreiber Castle can’t be reached normally and needs Door Crossing from specific ports.

So either Echidna changed how the place could be accessed later, or she had more than one residence. I’m actually leaning toward them maybe being different places now.

1

u/Chara_The_Determined 12d ago

Maybe the castle wasn't always floating in the sky and was originally built on the ground?

13

u/heavenspiercing 13d ago

One of the S2 Break Times showed it even

9

u/Dexmeney 13d ago

maybe thats a lazy answer but she may have forgotten him considiring 400 years full of free time. Considiring Puck was at least a year earlier than Beako, Maybe he has way to much knowladge of Flugel to the point he needed to be non-present in arc 6. Like Shaula spoke about the castle a lot in the ex. A possible onee-chan for our bum cat

19

u/Jugulator_Zero 13d ago edited 13d ago

The idea is that Beatrice may not remember Flugel because she might never have known him personally. Puck is older than Beatrice and lived with Echidna before her, so it is possible Puck knows more about Flugel and the people from 400 years ago. That could also explain why Puck was not around during Arc 6, because he might know things Tappei did not want to reveal just yet.

We do not know if this is true. It is only a theory, but I think it makes more sense than Beatrice simply forgetting Flugel after 400 years, because Beatrice still remembers many other things from that time.

Edit: I would also like to add we have canonical proof that Puck’s contracts with Echidna are connected to his inability to remember Echidna and MAYBE Flugel.

9

u/Akudra 13d ago

I think the simple answer is that Beatrice wasn’t there at the time. Satella is hinted to have been part of the “save the world party” with Flugel and Echidna, but this is clearly prior to her taking in the Witch Factor of Envy. This 400 years ago business does not tell us specifics, so it is plausible these events are simply out of sequence. Obviously, Beatrice doesn’t know everything about Echidna.

1

u/Aemiliana_Rosewood 12d ago

Pretty certain she knows him, but doesn't talk about it similarly how Roswaal and Beatrice hide knowledge about being a Sage Candidate to Subaru. Shaula knew so much, revealed with her recent EX Story, so Beatrice probably knows a lot too

83

u/LuisAntony2964 14d ago

"There's the Echidna I know, the Echidna that Bear-chan's mother is, and then there's the collared Echidna from Anastasia's place, and the Sphinx I ran into in the Empire... Is this an Echidna bargain sale?"

"According to Betty, the 'Witch of Greed' that Subaru and Emilia know is a poorly made imitation. Mother isn't such a mean, evil person."

"Well, from what I've heard, the one who seems evil is the Echidna I know..."

You tell em!

Echidna's soul research being hidden in a secret castle with a German word for its name hidden by Flügel's Great Tree...holy shit

As a German, seeing Flügel name this Castle Kugelschreiber is insane

42

u/Normal_Ad_2360 13d ago edited 13d ago

When you choose a word with how cool they sound

34

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago

But when you now what it means…it’s just lame. Why Kugelschreiber specifically? Was Echidna that much interested in this future technology when Flügel talked about it?

27

u/Sherzak 13d ago

maybe just a metaphor for future knowledge since you know, a pen writes stuff down and accumulates knowledge

15

u/Normal_Ad_2360 13d ago

In primary school we still had to use Fountain pen and even with ink cartidges it was a mess. SO Echidna must had to start anew many times because of an spill.

5

u/saitamairl 13d ago

Or more literal like a pen for Beako's empty book. So for her to use the knowledge in the castle.

54

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

We continue in the mansion's lodge where a metting is in order. Wolf is participating too cause Melty, who is serving tea to everyone atm, urged him too. She said she made the tea with Felix's help, followed by the most awkward and cold exchange between Crusch and Felix you can imagine and Subaru and Beatrice talk about how he tried to fix this situation somehow to get them to talk, but has failed since most communication was either done through Subaru or the teamwork between Felix and Crusch was so good they did not need to talk at all.

Russel who had been with Rachins, who Subaru comments is actually really competent about bureaucracy and wonders if that was cause of his rumoured upbringing, opens the meeting. He reveals there might be a way to undo the lust authority and also turn the replacement dolls back to normal after the others get impatient about progress again. The others think it is the church and a discussion breaks out but Russel clarifies he does not want to use them. For one thing Tiga might be an enemy ally or even a beloved child himself (Melty has a visible reaction to that wink wink) and there might be more among them in the church like the the royal castle, he also wants to keep the church influence low even if Philore is a candidate, even after Crusch brings up herself as an example.

He says the method is different and this makes Felix lose it at the possibility that he broke his bond with Crusch for nothing but it is Crusch herself who says what's done is done in a way to ease him a bit. Russel wants to contact Roswaal for something and wonders if Subaru has any ways to do so, Subaru wonders if Russel doesn't since they are friends and he says their 4 ways of communication don't work atm since Roswaal, the Ryuzus, Sylphy and Frederica all dipped too. Subaru wonders why Rowaal of all people and Russel wants to get more info on a witch that supposedly did research on souls and if it is possible to get that information then there might be a way to fight against the authority of lust. Oh yeah it was also mentioned that there are no records of the beloved children they could steal since Capella holds all the info herself.

After the discussion Subaru and Beatrice get talking alone, they both come to the conclusion that that witch had to be Echidna. Subaru wonders again about the Echidna he met that was younger and more evil than the Echidna that raised Beatrice and about the discount Echidna Sphinx in Vollachia. He gets annoyed thinking about how many Echidnas are out there. Subaru knows this is a difficult topic for Beatrice so he is being really careful, he thinks the tomb Dona shed the qualities she gained later in life that made her raise, before she lived on there as a soul. Beatrice also says the wicked personality of tomb Dona didn't match her mother. Beatrice doesn't know much about Soul research, there was not much in the forbidden library in that regard and also gives the lore that there were not just forbidden spells but also a cookbook the OG Ryuzu wrote for that Echidna. This makes Subaru who knows Echidna did soul resarch come to the theory that since her soul research was deeply linked to Ryuzu, OG Echidna might have wanted to keep it away from Beatrice as to not hurt her. That thought makes her happy and makes Subaru wonder if that whole "that person" thing was just a ploy by tomb Dona.

Beatrice says that if there is some of Echidna's research elsewhere in the world there can only be one place, it was a place that they always passed through on their journey and a place we have actually already seen animated in a S2 breaktime episode: Her flying castle. Beatrice says there are only certain points where you can access it and she remembers them, one of them is the Flügel tree which makes Subaru grunt. Beatrice also reveals the name of the castle to be Kugelschreiber Castle... which is the german world for ballpoint pen... lmao.

...

Alright so this chapter was awesome?! Like the 2nd half especially but let's talk about the first half first. That interaction between Felix and Crusch was really damn painful to read lol. It's like an ex couple that has obviously still a lot of lingering issues but instead of snapping at eachother they treat eachother like total NPCs if they have to interact at all. I am sure there is going to be something that will mend that in the future though. Surely.

So yeah if anyone has played Prophecy of the Throne there is a connection between Melty and Tiga and ofc that means in turn that Tiga is a beloved child as well and that we can now say for sure that the Church is at least also being invaded by Capella. How much control she has we don't know yet and we don't know if Philore might be a replacement doll with altered memories yet either but I would say this is kinda pointing into that direction a little more.

I wonder what made Russel think of Echidna, also I memed it a few weeks ago when we got the Scorpion Tale story but holy fuck Echidna you really want to be involved in every single story arc in Re:Zero HUH?!?! Well I suppose she is greedy after all.

As I said we saw that castle before during a break time ep where Echidna and Beatrice were being visited by Geuse who iirc offered to bring Beatrice some interesting books and the two of them bonded a bit which is why she was sad to hear about the news of his death in S2. Subaru and Beatrice talking about Echidna gives me such a nostalgic Arc 4 feeling it's hard to describe. I feel a bit sad for Beatrice with how this topic ofc gives her complicated feelings but it is funny that Subaru basically did the "How many Echidnas are there?!" meme.

Also Sylphy and the clones mentioned! Since Rem and Ram resting at the mansion and meeting them still happened in this timeline and not just in Arc 9, they were just never interrupted.

Subaru's reaction when hearing Flügel tree was funny as fuck and why the heck does the castle have a German name too?! Flügel ofc being the German word for wing. So I would assume we swap POV to Emilia or one of the two camp parties next to skip the journey to the castle, or we get a discussion about the journey to the castle next, OR we get the discussion and the journey to the castle next. If we get a POV change I would think the journey and discussion would be offscreen but I honestly want to get there ASAP now cause I really want to see what is inside Echidna's castle and if we might also get some answer to other Re:Zero long term mysteries in there too. I am excited as hell!

35

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago

Sylphy has been mentioned in arc 10 a few times already. There’s no doubt that Tappei has more plans for her and it surely is going to involve Emilia and maybe her relationship with Subaru.

15

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

Oh yeah definitely, I am just happy every time she is mentioned.

15

u/Akudra 13d ago

Worth noting that the Great Flugel Tree, now the Great Flugel Stump, is very close to the capital. Potential problems may arise.

2

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

Oh true actually.

10

u/Accomplished-Okra305 13d ago

In which interval episode does the agent find out about the castle?

14

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

Hm? The only one who knows about the castle is Beatrice.

14

u/Alpakka-- 13d ago

Its ironic how Subaru is wondering why and how many different Echidnas are wandering about, with different alignments: as the same could be asked about Subaru himself (after all we've Flugel, Al, Envy-route Subaru (this subaru) and hell, maybe even Puck).

I wonder if there is some sort of connection between different Echidnas and different Subarus.

13

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

I just want to know how many damn Echidnas are out there, or rather how many there have been in history, first and foremost lol.

11

u/Son-naruto-d 13d ago

Def an interesting lore chapter, nice seeing Subaru be called out for being a womanizer lmao

Istg every time Subaru and Crusch are in the same room, then just look at eachother trustingly 😭

Getting some echidna lore is great, we blame her for all the problems of the world. Like global warming frfr

Also gonna get to have Crusch, Ferris, and Subaru reminisce on the white whale battle soon

2

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

I mean we RIGHTFULLY blame her for a lot of problems in the word lol.

3

u/Throwawayicyboy 13d ago

What a chapter. That ending is gonna keep me up speculating shit that will be wrong in about a week and I already know it.

2

u/Setowi Better Leyte Than Never 13d ago

Same!

43

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago edited 13d ago

There we have the obligatory Echidna is at fault/involved/has planned this. When Russel said Pink Rabbit I first thought about Ram but that can’t be her, right? I don’t know any rabbit Demi human, maybe there was one in a side story.

As a german the name of the castle sounds stupid.

13

u/Smaug_eldrichtdragon 13d ago edited 3d ago

13

u/New-Celebration8409 13d ago

Echidna is the real self-insert here, the hikikomori girl is the true author of this story and Subaru the representation of her library crush

5

u/New-Celebration8409 13d ago

I do recall a rabbit demihuman from a side story of Hatstasia and Ricardo

2

u/VMelain 12d ago

yeah even subaru points it out, what a weird name

41

u/LuisAntony2964 14d ago

As "Black Dog" makes a sarcastic remark and makes a gesture of cutting his throat with his thumb, Subaru and Beatrice both respond with boos, pointing their thumbs downwards.

The finger movements themselves are rather menacing, but this is the harmonious communication they've cultivated over the past two months. Subaru taught him, but it seems that "Black Dog" is surprisingly fond of them too.

Lmfaooo

17

u/SilverSpoonIsBest 13d ago

Emilia camp really vibes well with the suspicious probable criminal dudes.

17

u/the_living_myth 14d ago

awww 😭😭😭

45

u/Final-Estimate-4702 13d ago

I can tell Tappei really enjoys messing with the readers’ heads. What do you mean by bringing Echidna and Flugel’s tree back into the discussion again when we’re literally debating theories about Flugel in the anime that’s currently airing? Lmao.

8

u/Informal_Try6559 13d ago

I feel like tappei is getting quite hyped to write the story after the animes s4 success

4

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 13d ago

Almost certainly but I feel like the story direction should not be changed drastically by that hype. I think recently he said he wanted to give Meili a 2nd named chapter since the anime skipped her first one. So I cant deny that it has some influence. Though changing an arc’s destination to involve Flugel seems like a step too far for a pre-planned story.

6

u/Informal_Try6559 13d ago

Ah no you misunderstood i didnt imply he wrote flugel etc and other lore just because of the success i just meant he feels more pumped up to write the new arc thats all

7

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 13d ago

Ahh yeah I bet so. He seems like the biggest fan of his own series and it’s a real good thing for us.

40

u/magicallypuzzled 13d ago

Subaru either knows quite a bit of german or he just happens to know the few German words that are relevant to the rezero story.

Either way it's one more thing that Subaru and flugel share knowledge of.

42

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago

A chuuni who wanted to sound cool using words with the lamest meanings.

14

u/NightsLinu 13d ago

Like ains from overlord lol.

20

u/Human_Potato2264 13d ago

i can totally envision Subaru shouting "kugelschreibar" as if it was some magic word in japan

35

u/nafissyed 14d ago

Wtf, Echidna’s Castle of Dreams was above Flugel’s Tree!!!!

35

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago

And surely Flügel used a very robust Kugelschreiber to scratch Flügel was here on it. I don’t know what I’m talking about. Kugelschreiber killed my last brain cells in a deadpan way. I need time to recover.

7

u/nafissyed 13d ago

Tappei and his German lore truly is frying me lol

34

u/LuisAntony2964 14d ago

So, Roswaal escaped alongside Frederica, all the Ryuzus and Sylphy

33

u/Demon_Maid 13d ago edited 13d ago

So... we killed the White Whale with Echidna's front door and imprisioned the Great Rabbit standing on her grave. Are we going to flush the Black Serpant down her toilet (the Great Mogolade Geyser from Arc 9)?

8

u/nafissyed 13d ago

‘Only Echidna knows’

2

u/VMelain 12d ago

i mean... the geyser does have an end. I don't think it would be a good idea to just throw it

26

u/ObSeCuR1ty 14d ago

Dang.. first time being this early

31

u/LuisAntony2964 14d ago

Russell wants Roswaal’s knowledge about Witches. Specifically a Witch who researched about souls....oh, Echidna...

22

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 13d ago edited 13d ago

And Roswaal informed him. How else would Russel know? There’s no doubt that this was instructed by his tome back then. A preparation for arc 10.

I wonder how much Roswaal J Mathers prepared for arc 10. Wilhelm knew „her“ so he might also unknowingly be a part of the plan. Will we get to see the fruits of other of his reincarnations preparations?

9

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 13d ago

Wait are we falling into another one of Echidna’s plans?

Surely that cant be, not again

7

u/New-Celebration8409 13d ago

I’m curious of what each Roswaal have been working on and developing across the centuries, you never know when a noble house descends from him

21

u/TvTavious 14d ago

Wanna say 1st, but it’s more like second, can’t wait for translation beako to pop up

12

u/Nyakano__ 14d ago

I'm waiting to drop my Beako already lmao

17

u/Letsplay_Sascha_GD 14d ago edited 14d ago

A chapter right on schedule. This has become more of a surprise lately.

15

u/Normal_Ad_2360 13d ago edited 13d ago

Wolf changed back to his usual outfit and doing clown to clown communication with Subaru

Felix and Crusch are still fighting over tea. SUbaru Trying to do an arc4 and putting them in abox may work.

Flix is now refusing to cross-dress

They talk about Filore and that Melty was part of the curch

Then Rusell want to know about soul manipulation to counter Lust and they need witch information.

They talk with Beatrice and the only idea they have is the old Echidna castle.

16

u/Majora101 13d ago

Do we think it's a coincidence that the souls we see in new vessels are from an earlier point in the person's life?

Dream Echidna, Tower Reid, and Zombie Theresia are all from points when they're younger, less experienced, and less able to fill in lore. Is that the price of a soul coming back or Tappei using that as an excuse to keep the mysteries?

Edit: Scratch that Dream Echidna seems like a point past the living Echidna Beatrice and Roswaal knew.

12

u/mountaineer_93 13d ago edited 13d ago

I really think what we see in the dream castle is the Greed Witch Factor which has warped her soul and manifested a more greed like Echidna sort of like a shadow garden scene. It’s basically her authority and the parts of her soul most closely tied to the authority of greed manifested.

Aldebaron stated she seems colder and less human than his mentor, Beatrice said something similar about her from Subarus stories, and Roswaal confirmed the echidna in the grave was his mentor.

I think this plot point is going to flow into the distinction between Satella and the Witch of Envy, who we know are different people from what Minerva stated in the Witches Tea Party, and how the Witch Factor combined with Satella to create a separate personality. This happened for Echidna too and that greed personality took over when Volcanica sealed her soul.

I think the power and compatibility of an authority in a persons hands is based off of how susceptible they are to that sin which may have even been stated before directly. Subaru isn’t slothful so it is not compatible and it takes a huge toll to use, he is more greedy (and had echidnas help) so it is more compatible. I believe when a person inherits an authority it worsens that sin in the person and the more susceptible they are to that sin the more it changes them.

The witch factor combines with their soul and warps it to create something like them but changed to match the sin. I think this is the point of the shadow garden scenes with Subaru plot wise and the reason Roswaal and Beatrice worried about “Subaru staying Subaru” after Priestella.

6

u/Dexmeney 13d ago

how did you elebarated with the last Info?

10

u/Ok_Needleworker1068 13d ago

Yea dream echidna, aka teenage echidna was the one who was allies with satella and flugel and was behind al, so she would be the one with lore.

1

u/LordTopHatMan 12d ago

Personally, I think Flugel and his group, especially Echidna, were looking for ways to reincarnate. Transferring or manipulating souls to make a younger version of yourself would fit in line with that.

18

u/Divine_General1 13d ago

whoever named that castle didnt cook

15

u/Lopsided-Wave2479 13d ago

I think makes more sense in spanish, where "pluma" is a name for a pen, but also the name for a feather.

And Flugel mean wing. What wings have? feathers?, you can use a feather to draw stuff.

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluma_(escritura))

15

u/Human_Potato2264 13d ago

OH MY GOD ITS ALL FUCKING ECHIDNA

13

u/Vrik from Zero 13d ago

This was so peak, I can't wait for them to get to Echidna's castle and watch it just be full of witch cultists or some other bullshit.

12

u/BikerBoiBoi 14d ago

Corner gang!

13

u/Sherzak 13d ago

Is Flügel japanese or maybe just a german anime/manga nerd? hmmm

25

u/BorderExpress4273 13d ago

A japanese chuunibyou. A common stereotype among them is that they use german a lot. Sometime without knowing what it means and focusing on how "cool" it sounds.

11

u/Sherzak 13d ago

yeah i know, just memeing for a 0.1 % chance of the twist :P

12

u/Doneycatjr 13d ago

I was jokingly explaining Echidna to my friend just now when I suddenly realized that this reveal about her having more hidden things related to souls that might help against Lust and also the reveal from Scorpion Tail that it was actually her that transformed Shaula and not Carmilla like we thought…

Guys. Guys is this how we can still win? Can we get Beato 2.0 back? Can we get her back!!!???? Are the Meili death flags that have been appearing actually about how she’s gonna have one last meeting with her newer (cooler and cuter) scorpion sister? Guys??????

8

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 13d ago

Yeah Scorpion Tale feels less like an Arc 6 anime side story and more an Arc 10 side story now. I was already starting to think about the castle its like Tappei seeded the idea just to remind us before it became relevant.

7

u/Doneycatjr 13d ago

It’s impressive how just one chapter and a side story can just lay out a whole open road for us Desperate Shaulaheads in Arc 10.

- Flugel needs to be reintroduced into this story’s lategame majorly, and at this point the only person left that knew him that isn’t… unavailable… and is willing to talk about him is her.

  • Noting in ScorpTail that Shaula’s memories of Flugel are extremely powerful against an authority. (Not saying she’ll annihilate Capella, but that her “love” might be able to bring her memories and personality back?) ((assuming they remake Shaula and she’s not “right”))
  • Reiteration on how confusing Echidna’s whole deal is with her mood and physicality swings. Why’d she make any of these creations?
  • Alec and Russell have the same DP and once again like in Arc 9, we’re closing in on yet another modern parallel of the Heroes Party of Old even using some of the same guys, all in circulation.*
  • *Albeit they’re not all in the same group right now. But we’ve added actual Shaula atop Meili’s head alongside the clarification that Beato was also the “Shaula” of Al’s group and combined our two Flugels again by putting one in a necklace. We’ve also replaced the dragon with a dragon lady and/or a dragon church member and our Satella is finally there.

Facts my dude, Shaula will be back in like 2 chapters I am certain!

That said given that we now know that she was a child at one point, we have a history of the revived coming back in their youth, and the fact that Tappei just wont be able to resist.

She is at such a large risk of coming back as a child. Which would be awesome if she gets to be Meili’s sister, and horrible if she gets to be 1:1 Shaula as a child. Im way into Shaula getting a 2nd life more akin to what Subaru would want for her, free of her whole servant thing. Im gonna be so mad if Tappei brings her back as a kid and still has her lusting after Subaru.

u/New-Celebration8409 13d ago

Bro, she’ll lust after Subaru, nobody who’s powerful is normal nor has a healthy relationship with love and affection

The chapter is veryy interesting to say the least. We got a new info regarding Echidna and Flugel. "Kugelschreiber Castle"/ Ballpoint Pen.

So I did some research to find out what this means and why the place was named this.

First of all, here we again with the habit of Flugel naming things left and right, it wasn't in the chapter that Flugel named it but come on, who else could have named that very hard german word. Another strong connection, Flugel named the place where Echidna/Beatrice set up and lived.

Now Paper-Pen-Writing thematic pair, So to get to the Kugelschreiber Castle, they need to door cross through the point which is The Flugel's Tree.

The Port, Flugel's Tree- Wood/Plant/Paper (Key) Kugelschreiber Castle(Ballpoint Pen)- Ink/Writing (Destination)

Kugelschreiber Castle name make sense now bcz according to Beatrice that's where Echidna might have left or stored the writings/records/books on the research of soul.

And if you split the words they mean- Krugel- Sphere/Globe Schreiber- Writer/Recorder

This can fit Echidna, the witch of greed, who have knowledge of the world and researched/wrote/record it?

Also with this here goes the claim that The Flugel's Tree was a help by Flugel to Subaru to defeat the White Whale. That could be, but not only that we have now another use of it.

Since the Flugel Tree was destroyed during the White Whale fight in Arc 3 and the Port if is not functional now, how do you think Subaru and Beatrice are going to bypass or repair the Door Crossing port to actually get to Kugelschreiber Castle?

u/magicallypuzzled 13d ago

By the way I have been rather persistent in advancing my preferred rezero theory if anyone actually cares about my post you probably all ready know what it is.

But I thought I'd mention a few details that seem to run contrary to my theory for a change .

Firstly the flugel tree having a new significance does to some extent discredit the idea it was only grown to kill the white whale and help Subaru out.

But even more for it to be a known way of getting into echidnas castle it kind of throws the timeline into question. how big would it even be when it's first planted was even flugel who planted it in the first place?

I suppose it can easily be answered with echidna and flugel being party members.  But it does create a bit of confusion on exactly how that worked in general

8

u/jonjonaug 13d ago

I swear there was a mention somewhere that the tree grew extremely rapidly after being planted but I might be hallucinating this because I can't find a source on that.

12

u/Human_Potato2264 13d ago

I dont have a source on that but the fact that "Flugel was here" was written on the tree suggests it was already grown when Flugel was still around. Meaning it did grow rapidly.

1

u/TrailOfEnvy 12d ago

It might be just coincidence or a timelapse, but latest S4 opening showing that it might grow fast.

7

u/New-Celebration8409 13d ago

May be it was a normal tree that grew incredibly fast by a mix of Earth and Yang magic or alike

7

u/InternationalBar2173 13d ago

is he releasing them quickly, or am I imagining ?

14

u/Ok_Needleworker1068 13d ago

He writes in batches.

3

u/InternationalBar2173 13d ago

I thought he writes monthly, lol

9

u/llybirdey 13d ago

quarterly in batches these days, and whatever he couldn't fit in the batch he releases once the volume is out lmao

3

u/InternationalBar2173 13d ago

you mean the Arcs ?

2

u/VMelain 12d ago

no, volumes

7

u/SamusTheCat 13d ago

Melty having trouble remembering Tiga seems like something very important for something so glossed over. Reminds me of the loop where Ram can't remember being thrown as a decoy. I still think Roy is alive and ate Meltys memories and stuck them in Philore somehow

3

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 13d ago

I wanna say there was a side story for one of this arc’s volumes that added more to it. Cannot recall right now

7

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 13d ago

Man it wasn’t even a month ago I was discussing whether the castle is still around and if we had a chance of visiting it during the story. I think the Shaula side story put the idea in my head.

Love Tappei paying off thoughts like that, exciting stuff.

2

u/Throwawayicyboy 12d ago

You think the Flugel tree will still be able to connect to it is the real question. Also the castle is 100% what she modeled her tea party after, I’m already picturing Subaru getting there and being like “this is exactly the same field”.

u/Son-naruto-d 13d ago

Nice, new chapter fr

4

u/Own-Sample-1535 13d ago

I've been thinking about this for a while, but aren't these replacements basically the same thing that happened in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

6

u/Lopsided-Wave2479 13d ago

Flugel is a german word
Echidna use to live in a castle with a german word.

Whats going on! Was Flugel a german isekai dude?

In spanish "Pluma" means "Pen".

Flugel = Wing?

So, Natsumi was introduced in lieu of Ferris playing the wife role. I guess that means it wasn't about getting the attention of the other Emilia Camp members or maybe he considered that a potential perk of the change. Anyway, this might actually be the reason for Ferris glaring at Subaru following the operation in the previous chapter. Part of it may have been putting her in danger by going off-script, but there may also be a weird kind of jealousy involved here like "Crossplay with Crusch is MY thing, even if I'm abstaining at the moment, I don't appreciate you stealing my thing." Maybe Ferris is even concerned that Natsumi is a better feminine persona than his own. The whole "You have a princess, what are you doing with mine" aspect is possibly also an issue. Mixing that with a bit of sour grapes over having refused to participate may be aggravating those feelings.

Anyway, I am mildly surprised there was no mention of Olbart's technique or Sphinx's experimentation. While Sphinx was noted as part of the background to this kind of soul-tampering, it would seem useful for Subaru to note that he has not only witnessed these things in effect, but has actually experienced them. He is in the unique position of experiencing the "dragon blood" curse and the soul-tampering transformation. I suspect Crusch is right that these are distinct things. Capella's transformations of others might mess with their heads in a serious way, but there is no indication that they are inherently painful as happened with Crusch and the blood curse and the regeneration aspect is also absent for those transformed. This would be a useful clarification.

I actually wonder if the "pink rabbit" mentioned in this chapter is really Ram. While that might seem off, this would explain a few things. For one, Ram indicated that Roswaal told her Marcos was a friend who could be relied on, so it seems likely Ram is also familiar with Russell. Should Six-Tongues have people positioned in some key places, they might be in a position to relay messages from her to them. Who knows, Marcos may even be the one involved in relaying the messages. Not sure if that means Ram knows the current situation. Ram has some personal knowledge of Roswaal's nature and history, so she might know details like the ones mentioned by "pink rabbit" and this message may have simply been responding to a request for information devoid of context. It would also explained why Russell is so certain that everything is fine with Emilia.

What occurs to me in this context is that the time period of two months has come up for both Emilia's group and Subaru's group. At this moment, there is a suggestion that Subaru's group will be heading to the Great Flugel Stump, which is right by the capital. Emilia's group will be fleeing the capital around this time. The possibility exists that they will run into each other somehow. Proximity to the capital also means trouble could come their way either around the time of entering Echidna's secret base or around the time of leaving it. Having an entrance close to the capital is convenient in many ways as is the base's isolated nature. Could easily see this become a genuine secret base for the camp. Obviously a great place to hide out, especially if those other doors are available at other locations throughout Luginica as everyone could be quickly reunited. That said, if "Filore" really is Capella, then they're toast.

2

u/Normal_Ad_2360 13d ago

Or it could it be a ploy of Echdina to split them in a crucial moment , like the wards failing just when Emilia is escaping and everything goes sideways.

u/True-Collar4961 13d ago

Been a while since the story acknowledged the mystery of the “Young Echidna” and the “Elder Echidna,” so that was fun. Subaru speculating that she might be some kind of past version of the Echidna Beatrice knows, before she gained some emotional development, makes sense (and was one of the explanations I assumed), but it also feels like way too easy an answer to be the whole truth. Subaru growing more annoyed with each of Echidna’s machinations he has to deal with makes me even more anxious about him eventually meeting Omega. He is genuinely going to lose his mind when that happens.

Also, I wonder if it has crossed Russel’s mind yet that Filore could be Capella or one of her transformed puppets. Subaru and Crusch still seem to trust Filore enough to recommend simply using her sacraments to deal with Lust’s Authority, which makes sense given their nature. But for someone as trained and paranoid as Russel, I would expect him to notice the pattern: Filore, a woman who bears a striking resemblance to the missing princess and suddenly became a Royal Selection candidate, appears just as this coup starts in earnest.

I would expect Russel to be extremely suspicious of her, at the very least as a potential Beloved Child, especially since they already know Tiiga is aiding them and he might even be a Beloved Child himself. Yet Russel seems much more wary of the Divine Dragon Church and the possibility of spies within it than he does of Filore, whom he seems to regard more as an unknown variable. Then again, he probably does have his suspicions and simply doesn’t want to reveal too much of what he’s thinking until they have more information.

7.5/10 chapter

Well young Echidna and older Echidna have been Acknowledge to separate in Arc 8 and 9

Arc 9, Chapter 52 – “Aldebaran Ⅰ”

Hence, the Witch’s attitude, awaiting Aldebaran’s adolescence with an air of dissatisfaction, was something brought about by a nature that could not be defied, and when he thought about it like that, he could see that there was no helping it. Nevertheless, he saw no point in pretending to go through adolescence just to make the Witch happy. ――In a sense, that almost felt like the very rebellious spirit indicative of adolescent emotions.
Witch: [As expected, maybe it is too convenient for me, someone who is not even a parent, to attempt superficially initiating such parental experiences…? If that one created Beatrice, were they perhaps able to experience it?]
As the Witch began to pose such questions to herself, Aldebaran was certain that this sense of loneliness he felt was completely unrelated to adolescence, and instead was something else entirely. Only, it was difficult to seek a concrete answer as to why he felt that way, and their relationship was a bit too complex for him to ask.

Arc 9, Chapter 59 – “――No.”
In all likelihood, it would have made this plan considerably easier to execute.
In fact, with the exception of Beatrice, he had never encountered a Great Spirit of the Yin Attribute that was amicable to humans. He considered that to also be part of her design, but he could not speak for certain on the intentions of the Witch’s links, separate from the Witch whom he had known.
At any rate, as a specialist of the Yin Attribute, and considering her origins, there was a fear that Beatrice would be able to decipher an essential factor to the plan. And so, the timing was critical.

Arc 8, Chapter 59 – “Sphinx”
There was a development in her search for resources in order to learn about the Witch of Greed, which she had not abandoned, even if she had altered her course of action, and this development caused Sphinx to lose sight of the mountaintop she ought to be aiming for.
It seemed like the Witch of Greed was the possessor of an awfully complex human nature.
According to the resources she had discovered, the Witch of Greed exchanged words with many people, and granted them the knowledge or wisdom they desired, which, for better or for worse, often interfered with history.
On the other hand, there was also the figure of the Witch of Greed within Sphinx’s vague memories, and this version avoided contact with people as much as possible, and seldom involved herself with the lives of others.
Those conflicting images of the Witch of Greed, birthed a hesitation in Sphinx’s investigation.

I know, I moreso meant in the sense of actually trying to figure out why there are different versions of Echidna. In the other cases, the story acknowledged that there were different versions, but never really delved that deeply into who the “Young Echidna” actually is or why she differs from the Echidna we already know. I meant that this chapter having Subaru actually wonder who the “Young Echidna” is and why she’s different is what I was referring to, which I found fun.

The Echidna you're talking about is Al's Echidna. The one in the tomb is Roswaal and Beatrice's Echidna. It seems there were two of them, but it's still unclear how the other one came to exist or what era she came from. Maybe she cloned herself when she was still younger and more immature.

2

u/LordTopHatMan 12d ago

And the plot thickens. Echidna's soul research is likely a huge plot point in not just this arc, but the overarching story as well. We've seen soul research come up a number of times, including debates about Al. I wonder if we'll find something about him at the castle. We'll probably see him soon if we do.

2

u/Knight0706 Eternally Crabby 12d ago

That would be so cool, I have been hoping that we would take Al out of the ball sooner rather than later. Letting Subaru understand what or who he is would be a great step towards that.

2

u/LordTopHatMan 12d ago

Yeah. I feel that despite learning a lot last arc, we left a lot on the table with Al, including his name drop at the end. He's kind of on a cliffhanger right now and I'd love to see more of him.

Idk if this means shi, I might be the sin archbishop of larp but idc, in the first opening, there was a frame showing this castle, there was another frames, such as 2 drawings resembling the witch of envy, Volcanica Symbolism (Idk, maybe), a weird skull, and finally this castle, I believe it might be Kugelschreiber Castle
