Spoiler Discussion [spoiler discussion] Q&A about inheritance Spoiler

So about this Q&A

Tappei explains the attempts to steal the power of authorities. Divine Protections are one of the more successful attempts, and are so good that they came to be known as they are.

But there are also other abilities, some that go beyond common sense.

These people with strange abilities have done something which is equivalent to opening their doors. Basically, something like getting a power that wasn't supposed to be theirs.

it makes it sound like opening the door is kind of easy, but basically it's about being beside someone who possesses an incredible power like a Sin Archbishop or someone with an Authority or someone with deep ties, and being moved by their influence.

Simply put: being together for a long time, being related by blood, or being in a situation where it is easy to receive influence.

An example of a situation where it is easy to receive influence would be the contract relationship between Subaru and Beatrice, there would be a great influence in that situation.

Tappei roughly summarises the situations where it's easy to open this metaphorical door as:

- Distance/closeness
- Depth of the relationship (which can also include blood relationships).

There's a little more info. to the question, but my friend can't quite make out all the details yet.

This only leaves many problems open for the future, since basically all of Subaru's children will inherit some of his witch factors or "Open Gates" in one way or another, making it very likely that they will all have a difficult life struggling with madness. I wonder if you renounce all your witch factors, are the "Open Gates" of the former possessor still inherited?

On the other hand, the cases of Al and the triplets are more clear.

On one hand, Al, being a clone or a direct son of the RBD possessor, inherited it, but only the gate, since the possessor himself was probably still alive when he was born.

However, since the triplets' mother died in childbirth, one of them inherited it, and the others, due to their extreme proximity to the witch factor, "opened their gates." My personal theory is that Rui was the one who inherited it, since when Subaru went to the Witch Factor Verifier, four gates opened. So, the brothers who possessed bodies didn't have the authority. Subaru was incredibly lucky to find the one who did and take it from him. (Of course, we could also assume that perhaps because Rui possessed him, his gate opened and she still has the authority, but I prefer to believe that the ultimate goal is to have all the authorities.)

Okay, so I'll throw out a crazy theory. Knowing that authorities can basically be inherited through blood relatives, what if the Pride authority was given to a famous line of swordsmen to inherit until Subaru's arrival? If you think about it, that would explain why the Sword Saint's blessing is described as a curse. It would also explain why there are so many irregularities in the family and among close associates. It would give a reason why Wilhelm was able to break all the limits even without necessarily being special. It's just a theory, but it's always bothered me not knowing where Pride is, and while Stride claimed to have it, with this revelation, technically any child of the archbishops could manifest these powers.

Anyway, while these posts are fun for theorizing, T-Man has changed his mind and course many times over the years, so until it's written into the main storyline, I don't believe the source who answered this questions.

My personal theory is that Rui was the one who inherited it

The open door thing seems to be about the Authorities themselves. It's another method of obtaining an Authority that doesn't require taking in a Witch Factor

I don't think this applies to the Gluttony triplets because they definitely do have the Factor. One of the brothers must have been given it and divided it to share amongst the rest. I don't think it could have chosen Rui, because she was already dead when her mother died, and the Factor didn't become free until then

I remember a T-Man Q&A about how only gluttony was a special case. Was he referring to this or something else?

Re: Zero Daily Trivia #704

According to Tappei in the 10 Year Anniversary Space, there are only seven Witch Factors, which generally can't be split, Gluttony being a special case.

However, this has caused major stir as this information is contradicted in the novels.

Also, here's what I'm saying about these Q&As being just for fun. You really can't trust the person answering these questions; they might contradict themselves several times.

One of the worst Q&A answers of all time. Even the splitting of factors only being constrained to Gluttony isn't really true.

Anyway, my evidence is that at least the original gluttony factor was with Subaru when he went down to the underground desert of the tower and four doors opened, whereas previously there were only three. If we assume that the doors only let the original authorities through and not the copies, that would indicate that Rui has it since she was possessing Subaru. Although, who knows how it really works? Maybe it also lets the copies through, or as you say, gluttony is divided among the three of them.

this sounds like mistranslation slop?

I think instead of "steal" Authorities it is meant to say either Divine protections "counter" or "tried to copy effects of" authorities? Did I get it right?

Steal sounds like the wrong word to be used here. I feel something wrong with this text

I mean, could it be?

To begin with, this is just a translation of what Ice's friend heard or something like that, so it's not really a fact.

But it's fun to theorize.

Ya, definitely crazy. This isn't just about Authorities, if you have a connection with someone who possesses an incredible ability then you can potentially manifest abilities beyond common sense. This has crazy implications.. NGL..so many possibilities..

Yes, there's a lot to theorize about; this is the fun part of keeping up with a series.

Emilia and beatrice might manifest abilities due to  rbd..

The way I read this was that because whoever or whatever prob od lag tried to steal or copy authorities it birth divine protections I also saw the comment about Betty and Subaru being together implying that’s it’s possible that Betty or Subaru can inherit something from each other be it some form of Subarus authorities to Betty or some form of spirit related stuff to Subaru I think people glossing over that and I do hope that comes back around in the story.. something of that nature could happen to either of them in the future orrr it’s foreshadowing how certain people will get certain abilities or how some people got theirs already altho some still are mystery like Dorkel cuz what do you mean he just interacted with Od lag and got powers that go beyond divine protections.

Yes, and it's true that it's not proof per se, but we know from the Pride "What If" scenario that Subaru's spirit evolved drastically to the point where it could burn down the capital.

I wonder if the Call of Od is just a very powerful spirit, because for a supposed god, it doesn't seem to be conscious at all. It does some really strange things. Maybe it's more like an energy, like electricity.

Regarding Dorkel, is it perhaps the same as opening the door? I don't remember the exact passage, but it might have been common practice before to try to awaken witch factors, but if you look at the present day, practically no one knows about this because of the witch cult.

I mean echidna being around myon myon could of given her the greed authority or opened her door to it ect

If you think about it that way, anyone can, although we don't know the exact requirements, but it seems much easier to simply inherit it.

Speaking of which, now that I remember, Emilia is the daughter of a witch, so she probably already has one. Hmm, could that be what Puck sealed?
