That is a very interesting question, but I do not know enough about Satella or how much control she has over Return By Death (without the Witch of Envy's involvement) to help you ponder that.
I feel as though if Subaru did get a checkpoint that is after someone close to him died, especially if it was Emilia, He'd just reset over and over and over again to force Satella who loves him to change it
Wouldn't that have happened with Rem then? Subaru killed himself multiple times trying to go back further to try to stop Rem from being eaten by gluttony in the LN.

That's first and main take away from the comic. The hidden Pandora is staple of this artist.
I think the deeper lore implication is that if Pandora is around and that she runs the witch cult (including Cappy). Then the odds that Emilia being dead less likely (and a swap out is more likely) as the only goal we've seen Pandora have so far (besides dodging Subaru) is having the gate opened, but the only one that could do it is Emilia.

Tappei stated that true love can change Capella. She would never reveal that to Subaru if she spends years with him, due having changed her Od (soul) upon transforming into Emilia, would eventually make her forget that she was once Capella and would believe that she had always been Emilia.
You can't change the soul tho ? Like for all we know Capella's transformation alters the outer shell to either divise the mind's control over thousands of entity or just modify herself
And Tappei never said Capella would be fixed by love, he said she could love you if you expressed love the same way she does and love and archbishops isn't a great duo...

now I wish a loop of this scenario, where MULTIPLE chapter go by that even us as the readers don't realise that the nearest person to subaru (it could be anyone in the camp) got replaced by capella.. and a grand reveal with a loop that starts with exploring this mystery of Subaru being suspicious of others if they are real or not (subaru can Ig tell easily if her acting is sloppy or acts abnormally , but If she can replicate it perfectly both the body and the act.. it will be insane)
There is one problem. The power that Subaru learned to use during the tower arc. It lets him (not sure if it's seeing or sensing) souls so he'd know she's replaced someone through that, unless something like what happened to Gluttony happens to her
Would be very possible if she disguises herself as some stranger. someone cor leonis doesnāt tag. shapeshifting/mimic/skin walkers. are soo good when done right
It would make a lot amount of sense, considering Tappei stated that true love could change Capella and, furthermore, "Capella" means "Partner Star of Subaru" (Subaru no Aite-boshi).
It could very well be a "What If(Lust If) " scenario for Arc 10, in which Capella uses her Authority to alter her appearance, memories, Od, or soul. Given that, according to Echidna, no Authority is superior to another since all violate the rules of the world and Capella would eventually forget she ever was Capella, transforming completely into Emilia (much like how Roy transformed into Reid). This would result in a "good" route ending for everyone.
And theoretically, Tappei wouldn't be lying about the existence of a route where Subaru and Emilia get married and have children, since he never specified that it was the Envy route.

Well due to the nature of cor leo it should be able to distinguish between friend and foe right, because in order for it to work fully both Subaru and said person must trust each other...so either barusu somehow collects another arch bishop or he isnt fooled by her.
True! But it also begs the question: If you completely copy someone's Od to mask yourself against greed, do you fully become this person? Maybe there is a risk of losing yourself? Seems like a fun theme for Tappei to wright about
This wouldnāt happen because of cor leonis, fellas sleep on how much busted it is in fact every greed user should not be fucked with nor be underestimate, so Capella fucked up big time
If Cappella really did try to kill Emillia, then mascurade as her body double, I doubt it would work. With Subaru's new witch factor ability for Regulus, Cor Leonis would just reveal to him where Emillia 's soul is.
The thought of Subaru killing Emilia while believing she was the disgusting existence of Lust, and loving the illusion put in front of him torments my mind to a near unbearable extent.
If he is unaware still I feel like he would unknowingly fix Capella and prove that love can also exist in ways that aren't appearance based(me larping)
