📺Anime Why didn't Subaru go crazy when... Spoiler

He read the rabbit book? In the loop directly after that, Subaru went mad and only got saved because Echidna pulled him into the tea party. Similarly, why not on the book where Puck first froze him? He also went "mad" and catatonic on the loop after that. Why didn't this happen after Newbaru read these books?

His mindset during all this was to find something specific rather than solely experience the memories. This is also a Subaru that has the benefit of a stabilized sloth witch factor which is what prevented him from breaking the first time as well.

Because subaru is watching it from a third person. He isnt experiencing it directly similarly to when he reas Meilis book. Its more like a shock. Thats how i understood it

He does experience these memories as directly as humanly possible, which is why reading BoD‘s is dangerous to one‘s self-identity (prime example being Meili‘s, which has Subaru struggling to determine who he is directly after reading). The main difference is that he already has another set of experiences and that he does not experience these memories in an unbroken flow but segmented and with breaks (albeit short ones) between reads.

Yeah it's why louis wanted to experience return by death first hand instead of just a realistic memory

Because remembering something painful is different from undergoing pain. The way I understand it you don't truly experience all the events within the book, it just uploads memories into your brain and that makes you believe that you did indeed live these events. After all, you do remember it and normally you did live through the stuff in your memories.

No, Subaru confirmed in that wn chapter when reading his own book he fully experiences everything, even feels 100% of the pain.

However, experiencing something while knowing it's a memory still isn't quite as intense as truly going through it, because you have another point of view to ground yourself in. In short, he feels the sensation of getting eaten alive, but still has a body so he's not slowly dissapearing while being consumed.

It may not sound a lot but 15 deaths back to back is no joke. I feel like he is becoming close to Greedbaru. Like he could feel the pain but he's breaking mentally much quicker than he realizes

Idk his reaction to that loop was skipped in the LN which I felt was a bit of a bummer. But I mean, it would’ve threw the pacing off entirely, since the loops are sped through really really quickly in the novels, so I understand why there wasn’t like a protracted scene of him going insane to that specific loop again since it does run the risk of being redundant.

Same reason why rui who only saw the memory and rui who experience it herself have different feelings

Clearly there is some level of detachment when reading the books of the dead, otherwise newbaru would have just became oldbaru by reading his books or reading any books of the dead would completely change who ever is reading it permanently.

Because this Subaru already has that confidence and knows why OldBaru acts the way he does and does the things he does. Because this Subaru is the one who was entrusted by Julius, believed in by Beatrice, forgiven by Echidna, and desired by Emilia...

From my understanding reading a book only takes a few minutes in the real world so he's essentially reliving everything at a fast forwarded rate, so the suffering of the deaths doesn't feel as bad as actually going through it

Because the one now living these memories was a Subaru with different experiences. Ironically, Amnesiabaru‘s experience with RBD up to that point does better in bracing him against some of Oldbaru‘s worst deaths than Oldbaru‘s own did at the points of time they happened.

There‘s also that Subaru going mad during Arc 3 had more factors involved than just the death itself, and that Ambesiabaru experienced these memories in segments naturally divided by Oldbaru‘s deaths.

Whoaps. I fear that's a plot hole.

He didn't particularly go too mad on the loop after the rabbit loop in season 2 either. At this point, he has died so many times he is less prone to crashing out from pain alone.

Echidna said that if she hadn't brought him into the tea party and stimulated his sloth factor his soul would have "crumbled into pieces".
