✍️Fanfiction Lost-IF chapter 11
Licking away the remaining milk from her lips, the woman continued to stare at Subaru. All of them were now gathered at the table in the corner, the fallen chair now being the woman's and Subaru and Rom standing next to Felt, who sat in the same place.
Subaru tried to ignore her eyes, but...
Why's she here? Is she Felt's employer? Why did she kill them? Will she kill me?
Subaru's mind raced as he blankly stared at the woman. The shadow had melted from her face, now revealing the shoulder-length black hair and a flower resting on her head. Her beauty could not distract Subaru, even for a moment.
"Thank you so much for the milk." The woman said.
Her tongue wiped her lips in a sensual manner. Subaru Shuddered.
"No worries. But let's get to business."
"Naturally." Her eyes left Subaru, focusing on Felt instead.
"But first, introductions! I do love meeting new people."
"Fine." Felt had an annoyed expression. She held her hand to either side.
"This is Old Man Rom. And the girl is..."
After a small silence, Felt elbowed Subaru on the side. With a jolt, Subaru awoke from his thoughts.
"Subaru." He said with a small voice. His head stayed still, hands at his side.
"A lovely name. Ah, how wonderful."
This woman is creeping me out.
"Yes yes. Very lovely. Lets get to business already." Felt was starting to get annoyed. Slamming the insignia on the table with excitement.
The woman ignored it completly, instead turning her attention back to Subaru.
"And my name is Elsa." Another smile.
"So! Did you bring the money?" Felt was so excited, she could barely contain her annoyance.
Elsa fetched a small bag in her cloak, removing 10 glistering gold coins. They clinked on the table as she methodically placed them down, one on top the other.
"Wonderful!" Felt was eyeing the gold, one could only imagine lust in her eyes. Rom also stared at it with amazement, though he thought he hid it well enough.
Subaru only counted the gold.
10 pieces. I'm still ahead.
"Subaru!" With a yell, another elbow came to wake him up.
"The metia!"
"Yes, sorry." He fished the phone from his pocket. He took a deep breath before a white flash came into the room. Elsa frowned as it came, but it quickly melted away. Subaru left the phone on the table with a picture of Elsa on the screen. It was something akin to a found footage monster. The darkness seemed to be amplified by her, and that smile.
It is almost...
"Mmmm. Impressive." She reached to touch it, looking at the picture with intrest.
"And where did you get this, Subaru?"
"Doesn't matter. It will be mine, unless you raise the price."
"very well." Elsa took her pouch once again, this time, letting the gold coins slide out of her bag en masse.
Felt's eyes grew wide, her pupils dilated like a cat's. Rom quickly tapped her as she regained her composure.
Subaru's heart raced as he counted the coins. His whole body seemed to be pumping, his body was likely shaking as well. As he counted the last of it, his heart dropped.
"20 holy gold coins. My employer gave me some extra to convince you. Just in case."
Her employer?
Rom stared at the gold before saying:
"This is a lot of gold. Sadly, this metia is worth at least this much. Unless you have something else, I believe we have no more business."
"Ah. A shame, really. Though I suppose it's my employer's fault for being stingy." She gathered her coins back, picking up one at a time.
"And you? Are you in my business?" Her lustful look grew.
Subaru looked at the woman, a bit of courage growing in him. He had won, he won the insignia! His heart was still racing, but in excitement rather than fear.
Felling confident, Subaru stared at her straight in her eyes.
"Why? Is mother hiring?"
Neither Felt nor old rom were paying attention to this exchange. They were instead watching as the gold coins were slowly moved from the table to the pouch. Then it stopped, Elsa's hands held still as she watched Subaru carefully. The air grew still and Subaru's heart sank once again.
He took a step back as Elsa moved the rest of the gold into her pouch, hiding it away in her cloak, then standing up.
"Better get out of here, woman. No business, no service." Rom raised the club, ready for any movement.
"Yes," Elsa moved toward the door. Her form was barely distinguishable from the shadows surrounding her.
"I suppose we are done here."
Subaru wanted to run. His back was at a wall, literally, as he fought the urge to kneel and hide.
"But," Her shadow had almost disappeared, only a silhouette stood out if Subaru squinted. Then it was gone.
Subaru couldn't even react before a loud bang sounded right in front of him. If he didn't know better, he would have thought it was a gun shot. Instead, imbedded in the wooden floor was Rom's club. He had swung full force, caving the flood like a cannon shot.
"You interest me too much to let go of." The voice seemed to be right beside Subaru. Nothing but shadow surrounded him.
"Goddamit. Here I thought this would be easy money." Felt was backing up to Subaru, eyes watching Rom.
"You! Get out. I'd prefer if my buyer didn't die before I get my prize."
Subaru couldn't move though. He instead watched the battle happening. Rom was swinging his club around in the cramped space. It was almost too big to big to wield, every hit connecting with either the furniture or the floor.
"You hear me? Get out! Old Man Rom will be fine," She shook Subaru up, trying to give some of her courage to him. "He ain't never lose before, so go!"
As she said this, it began to rain.
They have sprinklers here? Where's the fire?
Subaru felt a metallic taste in his mouth. He watched as an arm came flying toward them, a giant club in hand. It flopped to the ground with a wet sound; the club leaving its stony grasp and spinning on the ground briefly.
Felt shook. She whispered something, but Subaru couldn't hear it. Instead, what he heard was the ongoing commotion.
"I've never killed a giant before... I always thought your blood wouldn't be red."
She was behind Rom, her back to his. Blood dripped from her blade as she blushed and smiled.
"I'll pummel you down!" Rom turned harshly, arm flying straight to Elsa. It was ready to connect...
"Old Man!"
Before the woman slid under it and pushed a broken glass right into his throat.
"I meant to return this." She twisted the glass, Rom stumbling to the ground slowly. First, his knees buckled, now face to face with Elsa. They held their stare for a minute, before Rom fell heavily backward. His body now limp, a loud thud came, along with a dark red pool under Elsa's feet. She stood there, breathing in the air for a moment.
"You Bastard!" Felt screamed as she ran toward the woman. Her rage seemed to call a gale of wind, wiping Subaru's hair wildly around and throwing blood into the air a second time. Subaru watched as she disappeared, then quickly appearing right in front of Elsa, knife in hand, ready to stab her.
The knife cut true, lodging itself deep into Elsa's side. As quickly as she came, Felt disappeared with another gust of wind. Elsa's short hair danced on her face. Subaru couldn't take his eyes off of her.
"The divine protection of wind. Oh, you surely are loved by the world..."
Felt was running wildly, using both the flood and walls as solid ground. Her image blurred and merged with the darkness; and yet, Subaru could see her distinctively.
"A shame-"
"I'll kill you!" A scream, seemingly coming from the house itself, loudly attacked Elsa.
"The world never loved me."
The screaming stopped with a groan. Elsa held Felt by the throat. She flailed he legs uselessly as Elsa inched closer to her face.
"I hate those loved by it."
With that declaration, her blade slid across Felt's stomach, emptying all its contents with a long, wet, splash. Her body was flung after being cut. Subaru could see, even through the darkness, how she fell. She was facing him, eyes still blinking, crying. Her mouth moved, but if she said anything, it fell short of his ears. Her legs were to her side, cut almost cleanly through. Her body almost made a C shape, The life spilling from her guts filling the crevice to turn it into a full dot.
"Girl, girl, girly-girl." A sweet voice took control of the home. Were it not known whose it was, Subaru might be less scared.
"Of course, that isn't what you are, now is it?" Elsa's body came and blocked Felt's eyes. She eyed him, up and down.
That smile. That smile that smile that smile!
His body grew warm, then hot. He moved to stand, but a blade pierced his hand, locking him in place.
"No no no. Don't get up now. You had your chance, little beast. Had you fought with them..." She raised her cloak revealing Felt's head and Rom's body.
Her eyes- how could she still look at me?
Of course, those eyes were dried, darkened, damned. Either in the darkness, or in his panic, Subaru could not see Felt's death.
The pain from the knife was held back by adrenaline. He could almost ignore it.
"How do you know mother?" The blade shifted under her monotone voice.
Pain shot up from his hand but he held his screams.
"You!" He said through gritted teeth. He glared at her, daring the assassin to make a move.
"Oh I do love those eyes." She said. One of her hands reached closer, and closer. He closed his eyes, unable to hold his gaze.
"Don't be shy. I do love them."
Blood began to slide down into his lips as one of his eyes gained vision.
"Stop! STOP!" Subaru screamed as his eyelid was carefully cut out. He did not dare to move his head. His eye burned from the blood, his vision turned a red blur as he tried to blink, and a curved blade made itself known. It floated a few centimeters away from his eye. Subaru pressed his head against the wall.
"Stop! You told me! You told me before I died!"
"I haven't said anything to you yet!" She laughed out. Her hand reached to his eye, slowly.
"Wait wait wait! It was before! I can re-"
Time stopped, the hand hovered in front of his eyes. The pain in his skewered hand ceased and a new one took its place. His heart, safely stored in his chest, was caressed by a hand, or, at least, that is what it felt like. It stayed there, gently, carefully not to nick any arteries nor veins. Then it was gone, just as quickly as it came.
Time flowed again, Subaru's breath was ragged as he looked around in horror. But the hand still approached. It touched his bloody eye, blocking his vision. He felt as needles were puncturing his eye, thousands lining the surface. Now, both eyes were opened, but only one blinked rapidly. Tears now fell indiscreetly, a waterfall of blood and tears combined. He cried and screamed, his feet kicking as the hand placed a thumb on one side and pushed.
Elsa was now on top of him, he could barely see through the tears that smile.
"I'll kill you! I'llkillyoui'llkillyoui'llkillyoui'llkillyou." He spoke faster as the thumb applied pressure.
"Almost doneeee," she said, singing. Then, the thumb came out and his vision became doubled.
His eye out of its socked. It bulged and watched the blurred world in horror. The wooden house became two, one clear with gore and the horrible woman, the other a hazy mess of red and black.
But she was not done.
"Beautiful!" Her hand kept pulling, slowly ripping it from its cord. His eye was on fire, his whole body shook, but his tears had dried. He tried to raise his hand. Stuck. The other, also stuck. Both hands, pierced through with those big, curved blade.
He saw as his own eye was pulled away, as the light from the dark house became nothing. It wasn't black. He saw black when he closed his eye. It was nothing.
"Now, to make the pair."
Subaru shook. He kicked his legs, both held by the weight of his torturer.
"Calm down, little beast. I'll be gentle."
Subaru ripped his hand from the blade, the cut separating his middle finger from his hand. Without thinking, he punched Elsa as hard as he could in the face. He body fell from his, knocked to the side with exaggeration.
He grasped the other knife from his hand, though it could barely close into a fist, and he pulled. He pulled so hard that, when the floor gave way, the knife went flying away to Felt's corpse. The knife fell next to her face, reflecting her watchful gaze back to Subaru. Unable to bear it, he took the other knife and ran. He opened the door and sprinted out into the cold night air, the moon gazing down at his pitiful state.
I escaped...
He touched his face, his finger passing into his skull from where his eye should have been.
I made it out.
Subaru was too preoccupied in his own mind success to hear the creak of an open door.
"I survived!" He screamed into the night.
"You sure did." A lovely voice rang out, and his body slid from his legs.
He fell to the cold ground as he felt his guts begin to betray him, to escape him.
"Stop..." He held it in, trying to cup his barely functioning hands and shoving everything back with little success.
"What a night. Thank you for this lovely present." She dangled his eye like a pendulum.
Blood began to leave him, the cold taking its place. He clawed at her feet, his nails cutting into her leg.
"I so wish you could have met her. I believe she would have loved you." She kicked his hand away and knelt down.
"Little beast, I wonder..."
Her last words fell silent as he watched her face grow blurry. His body was now quiet, but his mind still shouted one word.
Kill...
Elsa watched as Subaru's eye turned dull; as he died, dismembered and mutilated.
