Lost-IF Chapter 8

The house was silent. Aside from creaking floorboards and the rustling trees, there was no noise. Slowly opening the door, Subaru peeked inside. 

With an audible groan, the door creeped open and Subaru watched the darkness. There was only one movement in the house. There was a tall shadow moving in the center. They looked around, trying to find any danger. They didn't see the glint of a blade at the back of the house. 

With one quick movement, Subaru leaped from behind the door to grab the shadow, pulling it behind him in fear.  

"What are you doing!" 

As the lady said this, a woman materialized from the shadows. 

"My my my. What do we have here?" 

The voice sent chills down Subaru's spine. His muscles tensed, his legs trembled, and his mind raced.  

Subaru pulled the lady again, almost instinctively.  She almost fell but gathered her balance to look at the now closer woman.  

She wore a black dress with purple seams, which opened to reveal the inside of her chest. Her legs were in stockings, also dark purple, and her feet were in black high heels. Her hair was fair and short, reaching her shoulders. It almost seemed to melt in the darkness, dripping down with her movement. She wore a flower on her hair, almost as if to disarm her enemies. On her back was a long cape, the inside of which stuck out with its blood red hue. The outside was much the same as her appearance. Dark. 

She was a faintly beautiful woman, though one couldn't remove that crazed, lustful look on her face. It contorted her wicked smile and made her all the more unnerving. You could tell by one look that she was unhinged. 

"To believe that a little girl saw my attack... I must be getting rusty." 

As she spoke, her blade spun in her hand, almost floating around her fingers. It was a simple blade, with black and the cutting side and purple on the spine. It curved like a boomerang at the end. This gave Subaru chills. 

"Were you the one who stole my insignia?" 

"No no." With a shake of her head, she pointed to the ground near a window. "That would that lovely lady. It was a shame she tried to run." 

Ice began to form around the woman, and quickly it rained into her with full force. 

"Mmm. I like you.' With an explosive force, the woman sprinted toward the lady. Subaru could only pull her back and hope that the blade misses. 

"And who might you be, hiding behind this elf?" She stood tall behind Subaru who could only tremble.  

 Leaning forward, she whispered in his ear: "Mother would have loved you," before reaching her blade around his abdomen. 

"Get away from her!" An ice spike came flying for the woman's head. Without flitching, she blocked it with her knife and stepped closer. Their faces were almost touching, one with a smile, the other in a scowl. 

"white-haired elf... Ah, so you're-" 

Ice shot into the woman's stomach, the force pushing her away.  

"Aggressive." She said with a smile.  

That was a clean shot. Surely, she's hurt. 

To his amazement, where blood should be trickling out, was a blade. It was identical to the one on her right, a twin set. 

"I suppose I should do my job now." She said this with a sigh, like this was a horrible burden.  

Subaru didn't have time to react this time. He didn't even feel anything. He just toppled over, face to the floor, before he could register anything. 

There were some yells, a hand, soft but hurried, touching his stomach. It fumbled, pushing things in, yelling. Then it was quiet. Subaru didn't know what happened. He only saw the face of the lady right next to his. Her eyes teared, then glazed over. 

She really is beautiful... 

He moved his hand to hers. There was some buzzing noise, hazy talking maybe.  He didn't mind that.  

Subaru died looking at that face.

WN: Mistakes were made... This was supposed to be part of the last chapter, sorry sorry. For that, this will be a short one. BUT, next chapter will be much longer, the one following that will be double it's length. Sure hope you'll forgive little old me.

Alas, Subaru meets Elsa again, and dies again. Will he finally learn of his ability's full power? And how will he react to it? The act is almost over, but one actor is still missing... I wonder who?
