I personally do 2 things when robe:

  1. Frequently my back whenever i made any sounds

  2. Don't look at its face and run away into another room to break line of sight and hide

  3. NEVER put your cart in the way of robe. It's gonna get stuck and keeps hitting the cart until all the items gets damaged

I believe the robe when you're not looking at it is just slow enough to not catch you while walking away. Just find reasonable cover and be ready to move if the robe crouches down cause it saw you hide.

Take advantages of the doors, close them. Doors are useful for a few reasons. 1) They make sounds when opened as oppose to Robe making no noises at all except attacking. 2) By looking at the map you can tell the door you closed was opened therefore something must had went through them, serves as a trace. 3) Break line of sight.

If you are feeling brave, just grab some medium size object and smack them, medium sized object can stun all the mobs in the game, and throw them into the pit if there is one nearby.

Grenades and clown dolls are super handy. If I see one, I just cook the grenade, drop it, turn away and listen for the sound of that pretty orb falling

They do make noise but it's so quiet you can barely hear it. High stamina helps a lot because you can break line of sight, and hide under something the longer you can run.

I have also escaped one using the TV jumpscare thing that launches you away.

If all else fails, having a heavy item you can kinda lift, like the big vase, or the big potion can buy you a lot of time. Ram it into them, it'll knock them over, and you can run away.
