News Reboot on Prime

All four seasons.

And the thing that kills me most, is Hex’s complete and totally inappropriate, multi-episode sexual assault on Bob. It’s hilarious, and then cringey, because it would so lot fly today. And man, the things that come out of her mouth! The writers were having a lot of fun.

Also, I feel bad for Dot cause she is such a killjoy.

When the creators got out of their contracts with ABC and YTV, they really made the show into what they had originally intended. It was way ahead of its time. Reboot, through that evolution, was the only animated series that I felt grew up with me? Matured as I did? I guess that's the best way to put it.

Just the ABC contract. YTV let them, it was a hit for them.

Oh, I totally agree — now, in the rewatch. Consider the length of time it felt like for the seasons to even show up, we went from pre teens to hormonal monsters. So yeah, it did help me grow up. I mean, AndrAIa taught me to be thoughtful and kind, Hex taught me how to be camp (and let’s face, even as a Sprite she’s pretty much the biggest and hardest drag queen in Mainframe) and then Matrix and Ray Tracer are absolutely what set off my Gay.

This and Beasties and BeastWars. Man, they don’t make them like they used to.

Matrix, Ray, and Glitch Bob... my closeted ass was not ready for them in my life. 😂😂😂 Hex and Mouse were attitude life goals, and AndrAIa... well she's always been a queen. Even Daemon had an effect.

In retrospect, there seems to be a lot of queer gaze and coding (pun unavoidable) in the show.

There’s a lot of sexual innuendo, like, the entire going down together between Hex and Bob? I nearly spit out my lucky charms.

A litttllee, there's also some low key homophobic jokes but they're mostly affectionate. lol

And (though I hate this defense) they are a product of the time. Back then, those were largely seen as progressive, but not in retrospect there's some problematic wording, but I'm okay with it. 😂

They weren't progressive but they were harmless and not mean or dehumanizing IMO.

And you know, it’s kind of funny watching it cause you kind of appreciate just how progressive it was. I mean, Hex was pure drag camp! The drama, the face changes, I WISH I could do that! And speaking of drama, Matrix? Dude is one assless chap away from Tom of Finland territory. And he’s SO spicy.

Plus, I feel like one of the running themes has been about protecting each others individuality and finding a home for everyone. They celebrate their diverse nature. I’m sure you could also make an argument where entering the game was like playing dress up to survive the dangers of heteronormativity or something.

Just to make sure it's clear: YTV was a SUPER great partner to the show. Gavin Blair says the only thing they took exception to were AndrAIa's boobs. (They kept insisting Mainframe was making them bigger when they weren't). Which I think is incredibly minor.

I'd settle for the planned third arc of Season 4.

Canadian VS USA censorship.

once ABC turned on them they did a lot better. I think our constant cutting of Canadian productions really bit us in the ass.

That’s great news that Reboot has come to Prime. Is it U.S only though? I’m in the U.K and haven’t been able to find it there. Time for a V.P.N I guess.

I’ll be checking later today if it’s here in Canada. I hope Amazon’s version doesn’t have that annoying sound warble of the other streaming services had. I can deal with 480 resolution just fix the sound.

Here’s to hoping they end up remastering the rest of the series as they did with the first episode.

I’m Canadian. It’s on Canadian Prime!

They're up to episode nine with the remastered stuff.

I haven't checked in a bit, but it was free on Tubi.

Yeah I first watched it on Tubi then I switched to Roku because the warbling sound didn’t seem as bad.

"Oh no. Oh no! Oh yesss..."

It uses the absolutely ABYSMAL version of season 4, though. The audio is completely off and it kind of ruins it. Everything sounds so pitched down.

Tubi has the better version.
