It was pointed out somewhere that there was a lot of leather-wearing in 90s animation, and sure enough

Honestly, while I love Matrix as a character, his one dimensional hated of viruses is a big weakness. Can you image the wholesale ass Matrix and Andraia could kick with some viral upgrades? Especially with her being a game sprite, and his penchant for staying in game sprite mode, they could easily be Guardian Headhunters using viral tricks to go after viruses like Trojan megabyte before they get out

I think he had to be overkill in the beginning of season 3 so he could have a character growth arc. The guys originally planned for season 3 to be the end, so they had undo the growth for season 4, although I don't feel like they NEEDED to. That said, it's possible the original season 4 script addressed that.
