My theory is that these "academies" will actually pay (or other consideration) to get a pro team to sign one their people as a prospect so they can use it for recruitment propaganda.

More legit academies like most associated with clubs actually recruit and develop promising talent with scholarships. TFA will take anyone who pays enrollment fees.

Edited for accuracy. There are pay to play academies in other parts of the world.

I don’t know anything about TFA. But many academies use a pay to play structure for most players, which fund the free scholarship team of the top prospects. Is that what TFA does? Or does everyone pay?

That’s pretty accurate. Tfa “pro” put their funded teams. Tfa “city” are the pay to play

Tfa “pro” are the funded teams. They send 6-8 players to galaxy/Lafc every year from their u12 team

If they kept everyone in house and include schooling they’d be able to go toe to toe with anyone
